EducationRe: I Hate Being Smart! by agentofchange1(m): 11:23pm On Jan 03, 2016
IT happens
MathsChic:
Sometimes I just hate being smart. Being smart, getting A's in school will make you top your class and later provide you with a decent to very lucrative job that's just going to assure your future. You won't be poor and you'll live a comfortable life. But sometimes, I just can't help but wonder at how boring and mundane everything eventually becomes. sad sad angry

On the other hand, not getting all the A's and not topping your class will throw you out there, challenge you to dream big and force you to come up with a living that could probably break bounds, making you into a household name. Linda Ikeji, Toke Makinwa, Folorunsho Alakija, Oprah, these are people who certainly didn't get the best grades in school or studied the best courses at university, yet they shape and influence the polity more than the best graduating student in Electrical Engineering from the set 1985 in Unilag would ever do. And who's that best graduating student anways? I bet no one knows today! sad sad

I so hate being smart! I wish I was a regular one that would have had to create something for herself. sad angry

if u have a^(1/2) /a , what does it simplifies to ?
ayokunlei:
pls cld you show the workings?
EducationRe: Nairaland Mathematics Clinic by agentofchange1(m): 10:44pm On Jan 03, 2016
OK , That simplify to 1/sqrt(1-x^2) dx =arcsin(x) +c
ayokunlei:
No, the closed bracket is not included.
Sqrt of (1-x^2) is at the top of the former....
EducationRe: Nairaland Mathematics Clinic by agentofchange1(m): 3:07pm On Jan 03, 2016
ok ,try use the parenthesis properly,

is it integral 1/[(1-x^2)sqrt(1-x^2)]dx ?
ayokunlei:
boss, i cant snap with my phone. Pls note: Multiplied by means 'dot', sqrt means square root, 1-x^2 means, 1-xsquared.
EducationRe: Nairaland Mathematics Clinic by agentofchange1(m): 1:27pm On Jan 03, 2016
ok bro make ur question clear or upload a pix
ayokunlei:
Pls help - integral 1/1-x^2 multiplied by sqrt(1-x^2)dx. Agentofchange1,Thankyoujesus and others

Pls help out

EducationRe: Nairaland Mathematics Clinic by agentofchange1(m):
you are correct bro,
GreatYinkus:
@Timothy, thankyouJesus has done primarily all the work, but in case you need answers to cross check:

1. xSin-1x + √(1-x2) + c

2. 1/8[(5/2)x-Sin4x+(3/16)Sin8x+(1/12)Sin34x] + c

3. -√(1-x2) + c
.
I just hope I've not made any mistake undecided

EducationRe: Nairaland Mathematics Clinic by agentofchange1(m): 9:03am On Jan 01, 2016
yes sir , off-course 2k is always even for all non-zero k

i will post an alternative proof Asap
DatechMan:
I must mention that some of this your questions, especially 1 - 3 need not be proved using Mathematical inductions because they are self sufficient.
Meanwhile check out agentofchange1 solutions. Ask questions if you are not clear

Q1
Agent of Change has tried to adapt the proof to Mathematical Induction.

Full proofs here. Check it out

Q2
agentofchange1 can you tell us why you think it is you have sufficiently proved the expression when the terms in the bracket cannot be said to be integers or Rational number to say the least.
Kindly expatiate. Because 2y is always even if only y is a non-zero integer.

Thanks

Please someone should help solve this:

SOLVE BY LAPLACE TRANSFORM, THE EQUATION

d^2 X/dt^2 +10(cos5t - 2sin5t) given that at t=0, X=1 and dx/dt = 2.

At the end, the final answer should be this: (2t + 1) cos5t + tsin5t. I have not been able to arrive at this answer. this question is in page 91 of Advanced Engineering maths fourth Edition.
