Since I've been going for interviews all my life, I've never come across what I witnessed today @ Dangote, Ikeja.
it's so unfortunate and quite disheartening that a conglomerate like Dangote Industries Ltd lack organizational and planning skills. Right from the begining of the recruitment process, it's been an unsual spontaneous way of communication - sending invite 2days before test, sending invite in the eevening on a weekend...such an incompetent and insolent way of operation!!!
Dangote refused to hold interviews for the electrical guys, claiming the interviewers for electrical ain't around even when the list was on the desk- our names against our dept, phone numbers, emails and scores column (but scores were not input) and no able Dangote Rep could even tell us something meaningful about the development.
At first, One confused dude came out to tell us that the vacancies for electrical which is 5 has been filled up already that he's very sorry but there's nothing he could do about it.
After waiting for hours till 2.30pm, i summoned courage to meet one other staff that we need to speak to an important personel to address the issue. after the hassle and buzzle, story remained the same - that things happen, we are in Nigeria!
All attempt to get across to the HR via calls and sms via the phone No proved abortive and unreplied.
And this is my ordeal today ....life goes on!!!

I am really surprised that such a thing happened. Why did they send the message if they have taken the number of Electrical guys they need? They should have at least addressed you guys diplomatically. I can't really believe that you guys were treated that way, it is not fair.
You Electrical guys can go to Obajana on the 3/11/2016 by 9:am to take your own interview since they said that they don't have Electrical interviewer at Lagos. Just go to Obajana with that SMS interview invite and see what will come out of it.
I can't explain why everything turned out like this.

He wrote his test at Obajana by October. Those that wrote their test at Obajana and scaled through the test got the invite. Elect guys interview holds on 3rd Nov. 2016 while Chem guys interview holds on the 9th Nov.2016 all at Obajana.

I don't have an idea for the case of those that wrote theirs at Lagos around September.

His course is Geology (Mining) , the interview venue is at Obajana and it's coming up by next week Thursday(3/11/2016). I later found out that they decided to conduct some interviews at Obajana.

The essence of this thread is to share information wholeheartedly with no strings attached. I don't know why people like hoarding information or sometime giving half information .

When they might have finalised the GETS2016 recruitment. But definitely, it won't exceed this year,no one knows the exact time that they will get back to us to resume for the training ,for those that will scale through the interview.

OK, maybe I mistook you for another person because when I came out from the interview room , I met another interviewee who has already been interviewed and we spoke,thereafter we went back to the reception room to enquire about the next move, the HR woman told us that they will mail us. I thought you were the person.

It is only for the interview done on the 24th October and this set of people wrote their test on May 6th.

If you go through the paper, you will see where it was boldly quoted like this....."CONSEQUENTLY, THE INDUSTRIALIST, ACCORDING TO SOURCES HAS DECIDED TO REPLACE THE EXPATRIATES WITH NIGERIANS, WHO HAVE ACQUIRED THE REQUISITE EXPERIENCE ON THE JOB, AS PAYING THEM WILL BE LESS PROBLEMATIC".
People didn't notice this little blessing. Or maybe they are turning blind eyes. The sacking is good for Nigerians and the company itself. After all, we have capable hands that are Nigerians.

So the essence of GETS is to train the engineers the company will need in the future, not just in Nigeria but across Africa, instead of permanently relying on the expatriates who can leave the country at anytime.

The year one graduated didn't play major role in the interview selection process but the score one made and the course you studied and also the role one applied for.The 5 Automobile guys invited, none of them scored up to 50% but they were invited because they applied for Automobile engineering against Mechanical engineering even though they studied mechanical engineering as a course in school. Had they applied for mechanical engineering position ,none of them would have been invited because mech guys scored very high in the test.

Also some of the 13 guys invited for Mining engineering graduated in the year 2012 but because they studied pure Mining engineering they were invited even though their scores were not that high. If they had applied for mechanical engineering role they wouldn't have been selected as well because mechanical engineering cut -off mark will be above mining engineering cut-off mark.

Agwuabia the way u took time to attend to questions here is rare. Any company u work with will experience ur impact for sure. Guess u r a super LION which yr plz.

I have no idea about the scores for both September and October 7th test but the overall highest score for the whole test is 73% from Mechanical.
With regards to your second post, yes I am a super Lion class of 2014.

For Mechanical, 30 people were shortlisted for this year's GETS interview , the best 5 candidates had their interview today ,the remaining 25 will have theirs next week. So if you are of the mechanical and you have not gotten interview invite up till now, just take it as you were not invited.

Abaaaaah. 31 for mining and I wasn't invited... I could remember mining questions were 40 dat day. And I answered over 30 correctly, cos was really cheap for me being from geology background, so i had time to cross check and was just a few, perhaps less than 10 I wasn't sure. Lets say for the benefit of doubt i got 25/40 there, for which i know i got way more than that. Then the general questions, i can't say I did dat well. That was the tough for everybody. Buh even at that there were some of the question there that I got straight up, my summarized count gives atleast 20 sure ones like dat. There were verbal and other non engineerin related questions na. So lowest i feel i should have scored wld be 45. Thats why hearing a 31 was invited is weird. Meaning I scored less than 30. It twas school i cld boldly contest that result. Buh yet again. For the benefit of doubt I'll just assume they used negative marking or perhaps they removed people that didn't study exactly mining engineering therefore ruling out doz that studied geology. Well anyhow, i have alreadt let go, just dat hearing dis 31 gettin an invited is really makin it kinda strange. Congrats u all who will make it. See u at d top

Well bro I really don't know the criteria they adopted in selecting people for the interview invite. To the best of my knowledge, they have been transparent in the selection process so far unless they change in the final stage of the recruitment process. The five people that were invited for Automobile studied Mechanical engineering but they chose Automobile during the application, had they chosen Mechanical engineering none of them would have been invited for the interview because their scores were below the cut off mark for Mechanical. Though almost all the 13 people invited for Mining studied pure Mining Engineering from FUTA Akure. In everything just keep the hope alive, God has bigger things waiting for you in a different place.

They gatecrashed but they could not scale through the cutoff mark set for chemical department. The chemical guys that wrote on September & October respectively if they beat the cut off, they will be invited for their own interview.

We were interviewed by two Indians, one took on Mechanical & Electrical guys while the other took on Automobile & Mining guys. They asked technical questions based on your field and little about Dangote products. Just be yourself and confident you will be fine.

The interview was very cool, it went well. I am very optimistic for a place in the Academy.

It's only Obajana centre, maybe those that gatecrashed on May 6th test at Obajana.
The number of people invited for today's interview is 28 broken as follows:
Mechanical........ 5
Electrical............ 5
Automobile........5
Mining................13
Total....................28
Other people will still do their interview next week but today's candidates are the people the scored the highest in the May 6th test.

I am currently at the interview venue. From the list of the invited candidates , those that scored the highest are having their interview today. The list of invited candidates ,their scores and their departments is distributed as follows:

1. Mechanical..... five(5) people were invite. Their scores are as follows: one(1) person scored the overall highest --73,three (3) people scored the same mark each --67 , the fifth person scored 62.
2.Electrical.... five(5) people were invite. Their scores are as follows: 1st person scored--52, 2nd person scored----50, 3rd person scored---45,4th person--43,5th person---40.
3.Automobile.... 1st person scored---47, 2nd person--40, 2 peoplescored 39 each, 5th person---32.
4.Mining...... 13 people were invited from mining. The highest score from mining is 55 while the lowest score is 31.

No Chemical person was invited for the interview.
It therefore means that all departments have invited for today's interview except chemical guys. I don't why chemical people were not invited for today's interview maybe theirs will come up later.

From the posts so far it seems like it is only mechanical people that have been invited. It therefore means that elect,chem & mining people should expect their interview invite soon as all the departments will move into the ACADEMY at the same time after the oral interviews.
I wrote my test at Obajana by May 6th . All the interviews will be conducted at Lagos because of the urgency of this year's GETS recruitment. It has already taken time, so they want to finish everything in time before the year runs out.

Surprisingly, I've just confirmed that I didn't make the list. I didn't think I could fail the test, perhaps I thought wrong, or perhaps my 2012 degree isn't what they are looking for. congrats to my wonderful peeps- agwuabia and all, who made it thus far. Hope we get to meet some other time. Now I'll swap engineering for business. Surely, we'll all meet at the top.

My dear awesomej ,don't worry brother ,God knows the reason why you didn't make the list, perhaps your career path lies elsewhere. Always keep the hope alive, I think God has better things in store for you somewhere else.
