mining person has indicated that he /she was invited, I guess it means that only Mech guys have been invited for now . All the departments will move into the Academy at the same time as one batch( As GETS2016 BATCH 6) after all the interview.

Didn't you get the SMS message? Peradventure any person got the SMS message and couldn't get the email message , just call the number attached to sms test invite and confirm your email address, the woman will resend it to your mail.

There are currently in the process of selecting .....There are finalising the process.....The people selected will be informed to come for the interview. Once they are ready ,we will hear from them. For sure everything will finish this year(I mean GETS2016 recruitment). Commencement of the training should kick off towards the end of the year around December. Interview should be within next month around November.

Yes ,the training is done according to your departments. The last batch that just graduated (batch 5) last July 29 had a total of 34 successful graduants broken into this number according to their departments:

MECHANICAL......................................21
CHEMICAL............................................7
ELECTRICAL........................................ 4
INSTRUMENTATION & CONTROL........2
TOTAL.................................................... 34
This time around with Mining and Automobile included the number is likely going to increase.

As for your last question , the chances are high.Mining is part of Geology, school like UniJos does the course as Geology & Mining. You know most schools in Nigeria do only the drilling aspects of Geology because Nigeria has much interest in Petroleum industry because it's a money spinning business leaving the Mining aspects of the course. But in all, drilling & mining use almost the same principle in operations the only different between both is that in drilling you go deeper in depth in searching for crude oil and natural gas while in Mining you don't go that deep in searching for coal, Limestone, gypsum and laterite. Also in drilling, the natural resources you drill are in liquid or gaseous state while the natural resources you mine are in solid form.

The new test invitation slated on the 15th of October is for the Refinery ,it's different from GETS. In future they want to transform the Academy into Technology and Management Institute(by 2018) and finally into a University of Technology & Management (by 2020).

THE DANGOTE INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT AND TECHNOLOGY WILL HAVE FOUR (4) SCHOOLS COVERING ALL DANGOTE SUBSIDIARIES VIZ:

1. School Of Cement Technology (SCT) covering Cement & Construction Technologies.
2. School of Fertilizer&Petroleum Technologies (SFPT) covering Fertilizer, Petroleum, Refinery & Petrochemicals.
3.School of Food Technology (SFT) covering Sugar, Salt, Rice etc.
4.School of Management Education (SME) covering Leadership & Management training.

In summary ,for now those that are invited for the Refinery test, if they scale through the test,group discussion and the oral interview they will be taken to India to learn Refinery Operations. In future, they will no longer be trained abroad but here in Nigeria at the DANGOTE UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY & MANAGEMENT, OBAJANA KOGI STATE. First batch is currently in India for the Refinery operations training.

Hope my explanation is elaborate enough and educating.

For the rest of us who have since written our test- my dear agwuabia, wapadunk, ukeachu, and all others, my wish is that the November mentioned by the HR people becomes the time that has been scheduled for our resumption-that interview comes up this month. Can't wait to finally get to be trained together with you guys.

Thanks my brother, has been busy lately. Very soon everything will be over, the reason why this year's GETS has taken time is as a result of logistics issue. Everything will be over towards the end of the year as the last set has written their test today at Obajana.
What we should be expecting now is interview invite ,once they fix the date for the interview,expectedly from now till the middle of November. Moving into the Academy is likely going to be in December,as all the departments (Mech, Mining, Elect, & Chem) will move into the Academy at the same time as GETS BATCH 6.

patience is what GETS2016 has taught me. Though the wait is worth it considering the technical and managerial skills and other benefits one stands to gain if one is eventually selected. To be honest with you the training is by far worth more than Masters degree especially for young Engineers like us.

At last the series of GETS2016 tests will finally come to an end by October 7th and for sure the interview will come up by November for those that will scale through the test hurdle.

@awesomeJ,you're welcome, with regard to your post, the resumption time for the training programme can't exceed this year. It is most likely going to happen before the year runs out,probably by December.

They are going to conduct one more test at Obajana soon. After that,once they fix up the date for the interview, you will be informed if you are selected to come for the interview. The interview is most likely going to hold in two months time(November).

Why nobody has come out to share the outcome of the test? Could it be as a result of the toughness of the questions? You guys were given tips on what to prepare with unlike the Mech guys that wrote in may.
Well, the truth is that one cannot easily pass the test unless one has prepared well before the test using the right material, in this case GMAT as earlier said ,because the formulars required to solve those calculations cannot easily be remembered under examination condition.

All the same I wish you guys all the best, although I am sure those of you who prepared well will still come out gallantly.

Some guys like emmabod,Gnen, Kecy19 & Eckzavia sent me private messages (PM). I guess it's in connection with GETS test. Network was bad so I couldn't access the messages.
To that effect, here are the tips to help you guys pass the test: prepare with GMAT especially the field based aspect and also read some psychometric charts (abstract reasoning).

Try and ace the test, those who wrote in May(mech,mining, Automobile plus chemical & electrical guys that gatecrashed at Obajana test centre) didn't do quite well in the test according to information from an inside source, though the overall best did excellently well.He scored 73%, right now he is on the merit list, the interview will just be a formality for him.
You guys should try and do well in the test because they aggregate the test and interview scores in order to determine the overall baseline score to use in determining those who will be selected for the trainee programme.

Hopefully, two weeks after you guys's test(elect & Chem guys) all the departments (mech,mining, elect & Chem) will be invited for the oral interview at the same time.

Good news, It has happened, I told the house that they will soon invite other departments for their own aptitude test before we will have a combined interview for all the departments (mech, mining, electrical & chemical).

So they have finally started inviting electrical technical people for their own aptitude test. Good news, those of us who wrote since May can now start expecting interview invite soon. I told them that they will soon invite other departments for their own test, it has happened.

@awesome rightly said but the Academy operates on its own budget from the fund given to them by the group on annual basis. They is a specific number of trainee they have to take per year. The issue here is that they wanted to run two batches this year, which their budget cannot carry. So they have to get financial approval from the group to enable them run that two batches .No one knows whether they will eventually run the two batches or stick to one batch.

For sure if you can score up to 60% in the test, you are already on the way to the Academy and your name will be on the merit list by now.The interview will just be a formality for you.

Within the next 16 days or one month ,you will get to know if you are selected. By that time they would have called for the interview.

Dear colleagues, let us continue to be patient and hopeful in this GETS 2016 recruitment. Even though the process has lingered beyond our expectations, we will laugh at last. Very soon they will call for interview.

I personally know that it was not their intention to prolong this recruitment this far. The reason why it has taken time is because of the ECONOMIC SITUATION in the country. It costs almost #3million to train each person so they have to get financial approval from the group before sending trainees into the Academy.

The bottomline of everything is that they will soon call for interview. The reason why they have not called is because of the economic crises in the country. Hopefully, from now till November everything will be over.

Finally, as much as possible let us keep this thread alive, whatever will be, will be. The thread will only close by the time we would have gotten the trainee job and moved into the Academy. I personally hope to see all the nairalanders in this thread at the Academy at last. Cheers.

OND(Technical people) is for their Vocational Training Scheme (VTS) ,it's different from GETS but the Academy also runs that programme at the same time with GETS. With regards to your second question,what I mean is this all the departments (Mech, mining,elect & chemical) will be invited for the interview almost at the same time by the time the elect & chemical guys will have written their test and their scores known.

For now the test scores for Mech & mining guys are already known. Those who passed, their scores, e-mail address & their phone numbers have already been sent to those who will conduct the interview. They want to get the test results for elect & chemical guys before sending general interview invite for all the departments.

Hello guys!! Latest GETS news update!!!

Aftermath of the test we had in May,they slowed down the GETS 2016 recruitment process for some reasons (probably because of inviting some discipline and not inviting others).There were still finalising on what to do next with regards to that issue, that was why the process got delayed up till now.

The cheering news is that they have reactivated the recruitment process which will take another one month or more to conclude. The reason being that, they want to invite Electrical ,Chemical and technical (OND) people for their own aptitude test.
Then after the aptitude test by elect & chemical guys, those who scale through the test will be invited for the interview together with the Mech & mining guys who passed their own test.
They want to have a combined and uniform list containing Mech,mining, elect & chemical for the interview.

In summary, elect & chemical guys should start preparing for their own aptitude test. They will soon receive their test invite in no distance time.

I will not hesitate to update us with the latest news as regards GETS2016 as soon as I get any info in connection with that.

@carmal90, you called the number that was attached to the test invite sent to you and you were told that there are done with GETS 2016 right? That is a typical response to a question like this from an applicant whenever it is thrown to HR people. They can't be direct with you unless you have a personal relationship with them.

The truth is that no one has been called. As a matter of fact both test scores from Lagos and Obajana centres have been collated, unified and put in one database at the headquarters Lagos.

Those who are to conduct the interview requested that the test scores be sent to them to enable them know the cut off mark to use.They also want to do the interview by themselves unlike in the past where the HR's play crucial role in the interview process.

Don't also forget that the Academy is headed by an Indian and the recruitment process is transparent. So if you pass the test, you will be invited for an interview. There is no man know man thing here,it is strictly on merit.

The reliable source through which I got to know the info that I have been posting here is very authentic,there are somethings they need to put in place before calling people.

In conclusion, for sure they will definitely invite people for the interview but no one knows when. Anyone telling you that they have concluded the recruitment process for GETS 2016 is just losing, disregard such info.

Dear GETS 2016/2017 hopefuls, disregard any info telling you that some people have been called or shortlisted for an interview. Some people like giving false info based on assumption.

As it is now, they have collated and compiled the list of the candidates who scaled through the test and sent it to the people who will do the oral interview. Immediately there are ready, they will start contacting people.
Nobody knows when they will call for an interview even the highly placed HR's in Lagos and Obajana don't even know when they will invite people for interview.

Finally, there is no way an interview invite will be sent and no nairalander in this group will not be invited. I advise that we should stop spreading false info in this forum. once again, disregard any info being posted here telling you that people have been called that is a fat lie.

You failed your ex test but this will definitely make his cousin not to trust you fully even though you are so pretty.

@josephjuwon75, the info I gave is genuine ,my friend got to know his score from an insider. He scored well above the cut off mark.
So if the said interview mail sent is real, he should be among the people to be invited, unless there are sending the invites in batches based on location like Lagos centre or Obajana centre.
To give you more info, those currently in the academy will pass out next week Friday July 29.There had there own interview 2 weeks ago @ Obajana.
Hope the above stated info is enough to let you know how authentic my info is.
If you know of any person who has gotten the interview invite, you can as well help share the content of the message.

I doubt the info @colossus12, but if it is true that means it is going to be in batches. A friend i know who scored high in the test above the cut off mark has not received any message.
Those who have got the message should as well display the content of the message. For those who think they did well in the test, relax you will definitely receive an interview invite. My thought thooo......
