If you read the book very well, you'd know that Hagrid told Harry what happens when people mentioned his name.
Somebody at 16 who has started doing strange kinds of magic that adults can't even do. And you're saying it doesn't mean anything.
Even Dumbledore admitted he made a mistake bring him out of that orphanage.

Dumbledore has been known to make so many mistakes. Nothing there.

Hagrid only said bad things happen to people who say the name. He never gave any example or made mention of anyone who experienced something bad as a result of saying the name. Period.

It was not a gimmick. Man's name inspired so much terror, only Dumbledore and a few brave wizards could say it. Hermione and Harry didn't grow up in the wizarding world, which is why it's easier for the to gather morale and say Voldemort's name with Dumbledore. Even the Minister of Magic and most of The Order of The Phoenix don't say Voldemort's name. And you think it was just a gimmick.

actually, a few members of the order of Phoenix say the name. Sirius Black did as well as Nymphadora Tonks.

I never said he didn't have it. I said he didn't acquire it. He didn't dispossess the previous legitimate owner of The Wand (I think that was Draco Malfoy) before Harry did. So while he wielded the Elder Wand, he was not its owner or better yawa for dey

bottom line is, if Dumbledore can defeat Grindelwald when he was master of the wand, I see no reason whatsoever why Grindelwald can't defeat Voldemort, Elder wand or not. Remember Voldemort never sought a direct fight with Dumbledore, except for the battle at the ministry of magic in Order of the Phoenix. Even Dumbledore said he was a shade more skillful than Grindelward. Emphasis on a shade more skillful.

Doesn't mean anything? Dude was near immortal. Do you think it was easy to discover the fact that he had created a horcrux, let alone 7? Then decipher their vessels and destroy them? You're seriously undermining Voldemort.

what's so special about being immortal? It was really easy for any wizard to know about Voldemort's horcruxes if they put their mind to it. After all, Regulus Black did, even before Dumbledore and Regulus wasn't that talented a wizard.

Nobody's disputing the fact that Grindelwald was powerful but Voldemort was some next level sh1t.

some next level sh1t who couldn't muster the balls to face Dumbledore. Don't forget, Amelia Bones faced Voldemort and almost defeated him.

I tell you, if Voldemort had been around during Grindelwald's time, he would never sought a fight with him. He's that much a coward and a bully.

That was actually what saved him from death when he tried to murder Harry from the rebound of the killing curse. Someone who started killing and murdering before he turned 16. Someone who had control of his magic without a wand even as a child.

nope. You're wrong. Mentioning his name didn't instantly bring his death eaters to anybody when Dumbledore was alive. That was something he did after Dumbledore's death. And it happened in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Beside, it wasn't the death eaters who came when Voldemort's name was mentioned, it was a group dedicated in hunting down people who didn't have fear of the Voldemort's name.

Voldemort never dared tried making a bold move to take over the ministry when Dumbledore was alive. He only did that after Dumbledore's death.

The fact he started killing before 16 doesn't mean anything. It only mean he was doomed right from the start. The mistakes Voldemort made is something Grindelwald will never make. Dumbledore even told him he was ignorant when it comes to some things and Dumbledore was right.

So you see, you're the one who didn't read the book. Perhaps it you watched the movies... Lol.

I don't think you know who Voldemort is. Man was so powerful, even his own followers were afraid to speak his name. Split his soul into 7 making killing him extra difficult. Most of Grindelwald's power stemmed from the fact that he wielded the Elder Wand. And yet Dumbledore defeated him.

dude, I know exactly who Voldemort is. There's nothing absolutely wrong with speaking his name. People like Harry, Hermione, Dumbledore speak his name. It was just a gimmick he use to scare people, making them believe the name is jinxed.

You obviously don't know what you're saying about the elder wand. Voldemort had the elder wand when he duelled Harry Potter but the wand didn't recognize him as his true wielder.

Also, splitting his soul into 7 pieces doesn't mean anything. Anybody who knew about his horcruxes could have gone after them, like Regulus Black did.

Grindelwald was very powerful. He's just as talented as Dumbledore. Even Dumbledore acknowledge that fact because they trained together and went on adventures together before grindelwald went bad. But Dumbledore was just a bit powbmerful.

I'm sure you didn't read the Harry Potter books.

The movie is dull and mediocre. Surprising that they introduced a new character in the person of Aurelius Dumbledore. How will they balance that with the events in Harry Potter?

Grindelwald was bad ass , Johnny Depp always delivers.

Just when I thought inception and shutter Island were intellectually tasking.
Unlike predestination, this movie gave absolutely nothing away, nobody could have predicted the concluding twist.

This is the first movie to ever infuse profound confusing confusion into my preexisting pool of fused confusion to make a logical fusion of complicated confusion.

It is pretty obvious the judge collected bribe. If not, I don't see any reason why the driver will walk away from this. Someone who drove without a licence and was clearly under the influence of alcohol would have been trialed for manslaughter.
