Keep your fingers crossed. Puting place of birth as UK rings lots of alarm. They will be thinking if you have family there that you didn't declare etc. Let's hope for the best anyways.

Like I said earlier, Till date I never claimed born in UK in any of my applications. I always put my naija birth certificate. I've lived here all my life and I don't intend migrating to the UK, to do what nkwa?

lloyd1000:
@salsa. I actually said post 1983. My Nigerian passport has always said born in the UK and I've used those details to travel to a few other country's. Even though I have both my birth cerificates, I've never been crazy about relocating from Nigeria. Am a proud Nigerian and am quite comfortable here. It would be pathetic if being born in thr UK would reduce my chances for a visa. I just never saw any reason why I should lie about my place of birth and am only applying for a UK visa now because its work related.
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by aibisoye: 9:45am On Nov 26, 2015
It is not mandatory for them to contact the company that invited you. If they have any doubts regarding your true intentions to the UK, then they can contact. I was also born in the UK after '83. I have always claimed born and bred in Lagos. I hope you didnt include your UK birth certificates because that one na gbese. They will just refuse you.

lloyd1000:
Hello Everyone,

Myself and a colleague at work recently applied for a business visitor visa to attend a 5 day training using my employers' details as they are sponsoring the trip. We filled separate forms but submitted together.

My colleague actually travelled to the UK last year on a business visit and stayed at a friends place during the trip. He did not overstay or have any complications.

I on the other hand have not applied for a UK visa before. However, the twist is I was actually born in the UK after 1983 and I've never applied for any visa or document since leaving the UK at just a few months old.

So to the point now. We received emails at the same time yesterday that a decision has been made and we should expect our passports in 3-5 days. We decided to contact the training company to find out if they were contacted by the home office and the said they were not contacted. My colleague also called his friend that he stayed with the last time and he told him he was not contacted.

My question is if it is possible for the visa to be issued without contacting the inviter? My colleague believes this is the case since his friend was already contacted the last time. Pls advice

Dear VO,

i intend visiting the US from the Uk next year. I just plan to spend 5 days in the US the remainder of my holiday in the Uk. Is 5 days too small to fill on my DS160 form?

did you use booking.com?

when you book an hotel on-line you receive a notification in your mail box. Just print that notification out and include it.

Dear @lagosNIV

I just recently filled my online application for US visa. And I saw 12th December available to schedule an appointment. That day is a Saturday and as a newbie. Never applied for US visa, I picked the date. Now I'm hearing the embassy doesn't open on Saturdays.
How can this be rectified please?

TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by aibisoye: 4:24pm On Sep 11, 2015
So I have to get a new passport,
Vicjustice:
Your passport must have the minimum validity period of 6 months in order to use it for visa application.
Note: it is allowed to apply for a 10 years visa with a passport that has 6 months validity as it is tender-able and legitimate to have a valid visa on expired passport.

Pleasee stick to your original story. At poe those guys have a computer with all the details you filled. They are just testing you, when they ask you questions. Stick to your hotel when you have checked in your brother can take you anywhere you want to go. Then come back to check out. Don't make mention of any brother at all at Poe....
hercules906:
hey guys, morning all, you have no idea how many problems get solved here, i got my visa reading and following advices given on this forum. keep up the good job.

i have a concern, in my visa application i stated that i knew no one in the UK, but the truth is i have two brothers, both british citizens. the reason i denied knowing anyone was because we were not in good terms and i went through the application process without involving them.

After getting the visa, my brother called and we kinda settled after some family meetings etc..

problem now is, one of my brothers insists i stay with him for a couple of days and offered to pick me up at the airport.
i should also add that i changed my travel plans as i initially planned to stay for 6 days, but now will be staying for a month.

told him about the issue of not knowing anyone in the UK, but he said it doesnt matter and that i should tell them at the POE that i have 2 brothers.

please guys, what do you think as i initially insisted on sticking with my initial hotel reservation, but its starting to look like i still have grudges and that is why i dont want to stay with him and i dont want to start another family fight....lol

i know there's so much "unnecessary" personal information here, but i just thought i should make you understand my situation.

my question ia would it affect me if i state at the POE that i have brothers having earlier stated in my application form that i dont,
is it true that it doesnt matter as my brother said?

please i need your urgent responses..justwise, vicjustice, worry, everybody..

thanks a lot

Hello Justwise and all, Its a great job you all are doing here.
I have gone through this thread but i'll still like you to help me out.
I am planning to apply for a UK 6 month tourist visa on a virgin passport to London for a 10 day Vac.
I will declare that i have been refused a student visa in 2006 for using my dads company account.
Right now i work with an Oil servicing coy for 8 months and due for leave in august and would like to go on holidays.
I earn 203k after tax. My account balance is about 1.2 mill. I am 24, still live with my parents and have no major expenses as they cover all.
MY concern now would be should I book a hotel and flight ticket. How do i convince the ECO i wont go broke after this. Then ill just list my family and friends in the UK i plan to visit.
Or should i get one of them to invite me and attach supporting documents. (Even if i may stay with one of them I dont like this route) Which gives me a better chance of getting the visa though. I dont want a refusal, I plan to apply on the 1st of May. When is the best time to print my bank statement too.
What can i declare as my strong ties to return to nigeria apart from my job. Is it Ok to attach a cover letter.
I plan to spend about 500 - 600k, How do i explain this.
So many questions, Please help me> Thank you.

Just put it along with your employment letter. Pay Slips, id card photocopy, they will provide their own postal bags.
hercules906:
thanks a lot, one final question oh... the letter of introduction from my employer, should it be in a sealed envelope or i can just attach it without an envelope...i know my questions are becoming too much.. lol, thanks a lot
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by aibisoye: 10:06am On Apr 04, 2015
But you quoted the last refusal reference?
Vanillasky:
No I had no records of it. But I stated in d additional info page that I had a previous passport. It had been retrieved nd that I had used it in applying almost 10 yrs ago.
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by aibisoye: 9:57am On Apr 04, 2015
Did you quote the old passport number in your form?
Vanillasky:
I just realized I made a stupid mistake on my application. I had a passport I never travelled with b4 d e passport only have a rejection for uk visa on it. I though it was retrieved by nis in exchange for my e passport. Just found it today, while my hubby was searching for something else. I even wrote an explanation in d form that I had a passport but didnt have d records cos it had been retrieved.i really believed this story. I have absolutely nohing to hide on d passport nd already filled in details of my previous rejectn but stated i cldnt remember d details nd d date but only d year.nw my issue is I must have sent it in with my visa dt was approved in 2010. Nd I knw hw quick they r in assuming an applicant has lied.
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by aibisoye: 9:56am On Apr 04, 2015
No It didnt,But to be safe try looking for that form.

mrflow1:
And hope it didnt affect your chances?
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by aibisoye: 5:56pm On Apr 03, 2015
It may be overlooked. Same thing happened to me. But try to find the form.
mrflow1:
Gd mrg my ogas,

Pls i need an urgent advice on an issue. My family and i were given a 6 months tourist visa that expired in dec. We travelled to london during the period for a few weeks. I am about to apply for a 2 year visa renewal but there is a challenge. On d previous application we used random date of birth of her father and mum for my wife's application. She doesnt have record of thier dob. We did not make photocopy of d application and dont know what to put on dis new application.

If there is a discrepancy is dere a possibility dat dis will b overlooked and is dere a probability dat d former application wldnt be checked.

Kindly advise
