Nigeria is facing a fresh spike in egg prices, with a crate now selling as high as N8,500 in some retail outlets, driven largely by a shortage of day-old chicks (DOCs) that has constrained poultry production and tightened supply across the country.

Findings show that farm gate prices have risen to about N5,500 per crate, up from N5,000 in January 2026.

Retailers now sell between N6,000 and N6,500 depending on egg size, while supermarkets and large grocery stores price crates between N7,000 and N8,500, reflecting rising distribution and operating costs, News Agency of Nigeria reported.

A Nigerian pastor and founder of Omega Power Ministries, Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinyere, has apologised following public backlash over a viral video in which he sought a wife for an autistic man under his care.

The post, shared on Chinyere’s Facebook page on Friday, sparked widespread criticism, with many viewers saying the proposal was inappropriate and demeaning to women.

The proposal offered financial incentives, including accommodation, salary, and other benefits, to any woman willing to marry the man.

In response, the cleric issued a direct apology on Saturday, saying: “I want to apologise to all the ladies who watched the video. I can never degrade any woman… if my comments were seen as degrading, I apologise openly. I am very, very sorry.”

The Federal Government has terminated the contract for Section 1 of the Kano-Maiduguri road project due to prolonged delays.

The decision was announced by the Minister of Works, Sen. David Umahi, in a statement on Saturday issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Uchenna Orji.

The contract, awarded to Dantata & Sawoe Ltd in 2007, has faced repeated setbacks, leading the Minister to describe it as the “effluxion of time.”

The termination of the contract comes amidst concerns over the delayed delivery of critical infrastructure projects across the country.

Senator Philip Tanimu Aduda, who served as Senate Minority Leader during the 9th Senate of the National Assembly representing the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, on Tuesday joined the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The Confédération Africaine de Football (“CAF”) Appeal Board decided today that in application of Article 84 of the Regulations of the CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), the Senegal National Team is declared to have forfeited the Final Match of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025 (“the Match”), with the result of the Match being recorded as 3–0 in favour of the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football (FRMF).

On the appeal by the FRMF regarding the application of Articles 82 and 84 of the Regulations of the CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), the CAF Appeal Board made the following rulings:

- “The appeal lodged by the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football (FRMF) is declared admissible in form and the appeal is upheld.

- The CAF Disciplinary Board decision is set aside.

- The CAF Appeal Board further finds that the conduct of the Senegal team falls within the scope of Articles 82 and 84 of the Regulations of the Africa Cup of Nations.

- The protest lodged by the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football (FRMF) is upheld.

- It is declared that the Fédération Sénégalaise de Football (FSF), through the conduct of its team, infringed Article 82 of the Regulations of the Africa Cup of Nations.

- In application of Article 84 of the Regulations of the Africa Cup of Nations, the Senegal team is declared to have forfeited the match, with the result recorded as 3–0 in favour of the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football (FRMF).

Good morning I recently replaced the battery civic 010 vehicle with 62ah. I connected the negative terminal first, followed by the positive terminal, and while connecting the positive, the horn started to sound continuously, prompting me to disconnect that terminal. I reconnected the horn still sounding, I unlock the car with remote, lock it back still sounding, I kept doing unlocking and locking both with key till it stopped. Since then the horn sound sometimes while driving without pressing it, it also sound continuously when I park the car at noon and midnight. Pls what could be the solution.

The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, on Friday restricted the operation of mobile banking applications (apps) to one device.

This means that a customer cannot operate the same bank mobile application on two different devices simultaneously in Nigeria.

This was contained in a circular to all banks and other financial institutions and payment service providers (PSP) announcing additional guidance for the operations of instant payments (IP) in Nigeria.

The circular signed by the CBN’s Director of Payments System Policy Department, Musa Jimoh, read: “The Central CBN in line with its mandate of promoting financial system stability hereby issues additional guidance for the operations of Instant Payments in Nigeria:

“All Financial Institutions (FIs) offering Instant Payment (IP) shall provide the following additional functionalities: Mandatory device binding: Mobile financial services applications (apps) shall only be enabled on one device at a time, and customers cannot operate the apps concurrently on multiple devices.

“Migration to another device shall trigger automatic re-activation and authentication.

“Customers shall have the option to opt-out of opt-in to IP service at any time and for any given period. This process shall be subject to Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) control. Default setting shall be Opt-in upon on-boarding a new customer.

“In the opt-out mode, a customer shall not be able to carry out online instant transfer of funds (intra or inter) from his/her account to another customer.

“However, customers can physically visit the financial institution to effect transfer during this period.

“Voluntary Transaction Limit: Subject to the existing maximum limits of N25 million for individuals and N250 million for corporates, customers shall have the option to adjust the limits as needed.

“Any such adjustment shall be subject to enhanced due diligence and appropriate risk assessment by the financial institution.

“The new transaction limit shall take effect immediately upon successful completion of multi-factor authentication (customer consent).

“Enterprise Fraud Monitoring functionality: All FIs shall implement and activate Enterprise Fraud Monitoring for both inflows and outflows to facilitate fraud detection and restriction of suspicious transactions.

“Liveliness Checks for online account opening/account reactivation: Accounts opened online shall be subjected to liveliness check; All online account opening / online reactivation, shall be validated real-time with the BVN/NIN database; and Enhanced authentication mechanisms (such as MFA, biometric authentication, soft token, hard token, liveliness check etc.) shall be adopted for online account reactivation.

“For new accounts, transaction limits (inflow and outflow) shall be imposed on a newly activated mobile financial services app in the first 24-hours of activation.

“The limit shall be as determined by the financial institution, subject to a maximum transaction limit of N20,000.00.

“For existing accounts, transaction limits (outflow) shall be imposed on a newly activated mobile financial services app in the first 24-hours of activation.

“The limit shall be as determined by the financial institution, subject to a maximum transaction limit of N20,000.00.

“For internet banking access, first-time log on a new device shall require additional MFA.

“The above are the minimum standard requirements for instant payments in Nigeria.

“Implementation of the above provisions shall take effect from July 1, 2026.”
