If this is sealing of a supermarket I am completely against this. Any supermarket has the right to charge anything they want. The onus is on you as the consumer to identify the shops that have reasonable prices. I observed along time ago that prices can vary wildly between stores.

Also this is nothing more than a shakedown

The officials of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) on Thursday evacuated bags of rice filled with weevils from all branches of 4U Supermarket in Abuja.

The affected products, 5kg and 10kg of Caprice and Stallion Rice which were produced in August 2022 and October 2022 respectively were expected to expire in 2027 and the price displayed on the weevil-laden 10kg bag of rice was N19,000.

Acting Executive Vice Chairman of the FCCPC, Adamu Ahmed Abdullahi, who led the raid on Thursday, said, “It was shocking Caprice and Stallion rice were still stocked and being sold in the supermarket years after the companies had stopped production.

Frowning at the “obnoxious practices” by the management of the supermarket, the FCCPC noted that the integrity of products being sold at 4U Supermarket could no longer be guaranteed thereby exposing consumers to unsafe products.

The FCCPC subsequently sealed up branches of the supermarket for duping and misleading Nigerians.

Reacting to the raid, the General Manager of the Supermarket, Yunusa Yusuf said, “The Supermarket is responsible for the fake foreign rice and promised to expose the suppliers.”

Yusuf, however, pledged to henceforth abide by FCCPC regulations on consumer rights to avoid future occurrence.

Greeting please I could use urgent help tracking my package that was en route from USA. The packages left USA in early March (March 8 to be exact) and landed in Lagos March 27. Then it says departed Lagos airport on March 27, which I find extremely odd because the destination is in Lagos. It’s almost been 2 month now and still no update on my packages . Please help 🙏🏾

The Federal Government through the Nigeria Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has introduced new regulations requiring its oil producers to sell crude oil to local refineries in a move to reduce the country’s dependence on imported refined products.

The new regulations mandate that all oil companies in Nigeria must supply crude to domestic refineries that are unable to procure it locally. Only after fulfilling these domestic supply commitments are producers permitted to export crude.

The NUPRC will serve as a middleman between local refiners and producers when agreements on crude supply cannot be finalized, helping to arrange a sales purchase agreement based on a willing-buyer, willing-seller model.

According to the regulations, payments for crude to domestic refiners can be made in dollars, naira, or a combination of both.

The regulator plans to implement the Domestic Crude Oil Supply Obligation initiative in the second half of the year. The specific quantity of crude each refinery is required to procure has not yet been determined.

The lawyer replied that the duration of the Plaintiff’s programme and the period of her release for the PhD programme by her employer (Nigerian Army), was clearly and strictly stated in the releasing letter and the Training Orders before she was released for and commenced the programme.

The lawyer submitted that after the expiration of the period the Plaintiff was released and sponsored by the Defendants for the PhD programme on 30th October, 2021, instead of returning back to her place of duty in Nigeria, forwarded an application dated 15th November, 2021 through the Defence Adviser of the Nigerian High Commission in London (who was the official communication channel between the Defendants and the Plaintiff at the time) wherein the Plaintiff applied for relinquishing her commission in the Nigerian Army.

Thanks for the response, I just felt renewal shouldn't require any of such documents since all information has been in their systems for a long time and also this is my first time renewing via DIY, the last 2 renewals has been through an agent.

My passport would expire in 2 months time and I am trying to renew it online, after battling with passport upload for some hours and finally done with that, below are the next huddle in front of me:

1. Birth Certificate issued by the National Population Commission or Declaration of age by Federal/State High Court or Customary Court of Appeal *

2. Local Government Certificate of Indigeneship *

Is passport renewal supposed to go through all these?


NB: I have renewed the passport twice and this is the 3rd time of renewal
