One of the most-awaited films of this year in Nigeria "Half of a Yellow Sun" has been finally approved by the Nigerian Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB).

According to Premium Times, it was made known on Friday. The movie, which had been previously banned over partially taking place during the Biafran War, will be allowed to watch only by those 18 of age.

This movie, along with more than 70 other Nollywood films was tagged "18 and above" by the censorship board.

It would be recalled that the story with ban of "Half of a Yellow Sun" caused mass disappoinment with the decision. Specifically, by the novel author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, who characterized the move as "absurd".

Months after the controversies surrounding the novel-based film, it was finally approved as the one "fulfilling the regulatory conditions stipulated by the NFVCB".

A Police Officer Beats Up, Allegedly Tore Up a Pregnant Woman's Clothes in Lagos

A police officer, Aurthur Okeke (ID. No.453255) has been caught on tape violently harassing a heavily pregnant woman in Lagos and her family members are right now demanding justice.

According to Busayomi who tweeted the incident earlier on yesterday, she is the victim's sister in-law, Arthur had dragged her pregnant sister who is in her 3rd trimester out of the bus, beat her up and even went ahead to tear her clothes just because he wanted to rest his head on her back rest. This happened on Tuesday at Bar Beach, Lagos and Busayomi says her sister has been at the hospital since then.

Fortunately, someone else in the bus recorded the assault.

Nollywood actor, Ramsey Noah in a new interview recalls the unforgettable, tormenting experiences of his life when he had no food to eat and how he had to sleep under the bridge.
"Those were the times when things got really bad for my mother and I and we had nothing. It was so bad that we didn't have a home or shelter to live in. We had to stay in a store, a small store that could take only one mat. My mother and I squeezed ourselves in that mat. We didn't even have a cup to drink water not to talk of a stove to cook.
And my mother had to borrow, beg and stuff like that. These were moments when I was young I didn't realize the gravity of poverty we were in, I couldn't tell. But it was a good orientation for me. It was moments that I thank God for making me past through, because that has sustained and helped me even as an actor. The ability to deliver all the roles they give me because I have tasted both sides of the coin." Ramsey said.

Tell us about your growing up?
My growing up was like tasting the two sides of a coin. When I said tasting the two sides of a coin; I mean tasting being a rich man and a poor man. I grew up with my mother, and with a silver spoon, I had it all. When I began to realize that I had good things to show off, everything disappeared.
We started from grace to grass; that has helped me a lot because it totally balanced the equation of life. It gives me confidence in all spheres. For instance, I can hang out with the enlightened or the rich. I can mingle with them very easily without any complication or complex whatsoever. Also, if it is the low class or poor people, I can mingle very easily with them. I can eat a fantastic dinner in a huge, expensive restaurant and I can go eat amala at a buka and I would not feel anything. I don't care being a popular actor or a role model. I am a role model to everybody.

Are you saying that fame has not denied you anything in life?
It has denied me a few, but it has not denied me being as natural as I want to be. I won't let that happen. It has happened to some of my colleagues. Fame has taken them away from what they wanted to do or be. There was a time I went to a bank to pay my NEPA bill and I was wearing a short and T-shirt, because it was on Monday morning somebody came down and said 'Ramsey Noah, you are a role model, you shouldn't have been wearing this'. I didn't take it likely with him.


With all these experiences, what has life taught you?
Life has taught me never to look down on anybody because the person you disregard might just be your saviour tomorrow. I realized that all my mother's property was washed away by rain. We couldn't sleep all through the night because of the flood. It was really terrible. Like I said, it is a life lesson.

Is there anything that can make you cry or shed tears after all you passed through?
Yeah, those moments; those terrible moments when we had nothing and we were living off people. People were just helping us out. There were times we didn't have food to eat three or four days. You haven't eaten and your stomach is rumbling but you don't have any place to go. There was a time I lived on the street, in shops.
There was a time I slept under the bridge. It was unfortunate that there were no records so that we can have memories we could play back now. To me, I am so extremely grateful that I went through it. At that time I hated everybody around me. In fact, I used to question why God was doing this to me. But I think God knew that I needed this for my future.

An associate of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Mr Femi Fani-Kayode, has described the reply of President Goodluck Jonathan to Obasanjo's letter as shallow. Fani-Kayode, a former minister of aviation, stated this during a telephone interview with a national daily last night while reacting to Jonathan's response to Obasanjo's letter. He said, "It is inadequate, shallow; it is inconsequential and it lacks merits. If he ( President Jonathan) is waiting for an apology from former President Obasanjo for raising fundamental questions about his administration, our nation and the welfare of our nation, he would wait forever." All efforts made to get Obasanjo's reaction through his chief of staff, Deacon Victor Durodola, were fruitless as many calls and several text messages sent to his phone were unanswered at about 12:30am.

Amanda, 44, and Nathan Gibbs, 39, wedded today after eight years together.
They had lost a number of friends to cancer, so the couple decided to wed dressed as Shrek and Fiona and use the day to raise money for charity.

Instead of wedding gifts, the couple asked their guests to donate money to Cancer Research.

My dear Iyabo Obasanjo,
First off, it is still unclear whether or not you wrote that letter to your dad – ex-President Olusegun Obansanjo – circulating in the media. Your failure to come forward (through a neutral source) to affirm or refute the letter and its contents have forced many to believe that you indeed penned that piece.

Personally, I’ve read the letter, and just can’t hide my disappointment. I’m particularly disappointed because everyone that has read it, and will ever read it must have had issues with their own dads at some point in their lives. Some even have more disastrous relationships with their fathers or parents. Some don’t even know their parents and earnestly pray to have somebody to call father, no matter how irresponsible he may be. I don’t know if you have ever been to the orphanages. Please do…You will understand.

To tell you the truth, throwing mud at your father’s white garment in the village square is the least effective way of redressing such complex family squabbles. What you have done is sacrilegious...
It shows bad upbringing and want of character. It puts a big question mark on the academic background and intellectual quality of the author. By all known cultural, social and global standards, your open letter and its contents are very inappropriate.

I’m sure you are a mother, a busy mother for that matter. You have been a senator, commissioner, business woman et al. That shows how busy you must have been. That also shows you can’t boast of having been a 100% effective mum to your kids. There must have been times your professional work or political schedules clashed with your wifely/motherly routine. And as such, it will be wrong to claim that you have been there for your children and family EVERYTIME they needed you. But that doesn’t make you a bad mum. That doesn’t mean you have failed or neglected your motherly roles. That doesn’t also mean you love your family any less.

I’m sure you worked hard and made all these sacrifices for the sake of your children; your family. How would you feel if they turn around and throw mud at you, like you are doing to your father? How would you react to a mail in the media tomorrow authored by your own son, accusing you of neglect, or prioritizing your political pursuits far above your motherly obligations? Would you rather rejoice? The same people you toiled for?

I won’t bother to go into the contents of your mail, simply because its purely a private family affair, which ought not to be in the public domain in the first place. But please be reminded that your political progress and achievements so far were enabled and powered by your surname – OBASANJO! The plethora of lawsuits and trials you escaped during the Senate Health Committee scandals are thankfully attributable to your last name. You literally walked away from legal prosecution, and a highly-probable conviction. It wasn’t magic. So, the freedom you enjoy today, is just on borrowed time. It shouldn’t be.

Let me conclude by advising that family disputes should never be used to settle political scores and mundane differences. Its wrong! It is not the duty of a daughter to win more enemies for his father. In fact, it is a TABOO. Many of your father’s real and imagined enemies must have been amused by your letter. But in their minds, they tremble at the mere thought of having a child like you. They would wish to be childless than to have a child that would bring them nothing but disgrace. Nobody wants that. And you too!

Let political scores be settled politically. But don’t allow yourself to be used as a willing smear tool in the hands of forces against your own father. This is wrong!!! You have elders, uncles, brothers, sisters, and a host of relatives to complain to. There are traditional and cultural institutions for redressing such family grievances. Use them!

Please remember that even the people you write and complain to, may have worse family problems. Look at all the great men in history: Prince of Wales, Nelson Mandela, Bill Clinton, MKO Abiola, Fela Anikulapo Kuti … name them…they all had family problems…You are not the first, and won’t be the last. Please my dear sister, don’t invite curses upon your innocent head.

And finally, of all the commandments in the Bible, there is only one with a promise: Honour thy father and thy mother, so that thy days may be long. So says the holy scripture. She who hath ears, let her hear.

May God help you to do the right thing…

Denrele Edun a few hours ago revealed that the ”dress” he wore at the ChannelO Africa Music Video Awards which held two weeks ago was actually that of his late bestie, Goldie.
He disclosed that he wore the 'dress' in her memory as it was the very last dress she bought to wear for the AMVCAs but was unfortunate due to her passing away.
