Kimbeast: When you are done talking about Barcelona shitty defense who by the way have conceded less league goals than Liverpool, you should also point us to Napoli who are marching on to the league title with the most clean sheet and best defense in Italy. You are comparing Barca in La liga to Liverpool in Epl. I'm not sure you did logic in school. Atletico Madrid have impressive number of clean sheets than Barca and they have only conceded 27 goals to Barca's 33 goals. As it stands they have the best defence in La liga based on your criteria. Can you now tell me why Barca is leading them with 12 points? They should be winning the league easy based on their strong defence with highest number of clean sheets. Data in your hand - useless. |

Singapore1: they won the league with it. PSG also in final with Ramos not starting.
if Neto Madueke Sancho turn up, we won't have time to blame jackson just as no one had time to blame Nunez and Ramos We shouldn't blame a striker that had 27 shots and none entered the net. You and Jackson dey craze. Jackson 10 goals in 29 matches and missed 19 big chances (In matches where we lost 2 and 3 points). |

Singapore1: Liverpool won 25 games in the EPL this season, and of those 25 wins, almost half were either 1-0 or 2-0 victories. They also kept 15 clean sheets, meaning in over 50% of their wins, the opponents didn’t score.
Then there's Chelsea, who had only kept about 4 clean sheets before that Everton game.
Funnily enough, we're now in the top-four conversation because we managed 1-0 wins against Everton and Leicester.
I am using Liverpool as an example because they never play with striker and half of their entire GA in EPL comes from Gakpo and Salah. If our wingers have the same output then we wouldn't have to worry about Jackson.
Everyone agrees Jackson is wasteful, but saying his replacement is solution to our problem is pure undiluted lie, especially if you claim to be chelsea fan and watch our match week in week out. But i believe some of you only watch highlights This is gibberish. Why was Slot benching Nunez in most matches if fielding a wasteful striker is not a big problem for a team? |

nateevs: @airmark
I genuinely don't have the time to go back and look for posts, and I mean that very respectfully.
If you look back at most of my posts, what you will find is me saying explicitly, that pound for pound, Jackson's output has been the best investment of 30m. My data-led argument was that it is okay to spend 100m or thereabout on a striker, but output cannot be marginal over Jackson's. It must be significantly better. And all the names you kept recommending were around that price mark, but with very marginally better output. It is a perfectly logical argument.
Just because it is not an outright "Jackson out" point of view does mean it doesn't consider a part of your view.
You will also find that I argue that if we had strong support cast, and follow the model of Madrid, Liverpool, you will find that a top 100m striker may not be necessary......I cited the successes of Liverpool and Madrid to back up this argument. I also cited how Spurs had the best striker in the country for years, and never won anything. Again, data-led argument.
Another perfectly logical argument that doesn't refute the purchase of a striker, but saying concentrate first on building other departments.
The third one was, "what's the point abusing Jackson every week?" He's not Haaland. He's not Kane. He was a 21yo, picked out of Spain, with little experience for 30m, by our owners' management strategy. You can decide you don't like him without coming for him every week.
This, and the other arguments don't equal a "don't replace Jackson" stance.
And you will find the same logical arguments from the likes of Kimbeast, Timbros, Singapore1 et al. I take time to read these fellas' POV and I can see the nuance in their respective arguments.
What you are doing is taking a complete anti-Jackson position, and repeating over and over that anyone who doesn't stand where you stand never wanted Jackson replaced. ............ This is a complete misrepresentation of our POV. And as you can see, you have now corrupted the views of these other guys who never followed the debate. Just this single post of yours below is enough to collapse what you constructed above, with thousands of words. I knew a day like this would come when you would deny Jackson. nateevs: Name the 30+ goal striker you can find that is better than Jackson. |

It's pathetic. timbros: I challenge you to quote ANY of my post where I specifically said we ONLY need to fix the defence and NOT touch the attack. And later change mouth.
I challenge you to pull out such posts.
I challenge you to bring out any of my post like this. Pro defence 100 percent. No balance, no attack, just fix defence. Period.

nateevs: Two things could be true at the same time. You generally have more time than most people to repeat your stance. It doesn't really mean that people kept quiet. It probably means they don't have as much time as you do. This is a lie and you know it. You had enough time to mock and ask how many goals Guirassy and co scored in August/September 2024 and called Jackson, 'my boy', but you didn't have time to post subsequently when you were tagged when your Jackson was missing empty net and making us drop points. nateevs: Second point. I can tell you confidently, nobody in here kicked against replacing Jackson. Not one single soul. You and Timbros were against replacing Jackson as solution. You were all about support cast only and you were here dancing when Jackson was scoring some tap in, to justify your stand. You don't need to be economical with the truth at this point that your eyes are clear regarding your adopted Jackson. nateevs: Alhaji, what were you right about? You know how many times you follow me argue say support cast is not the ish?
All goals scored today were scored by the support cast. When I told you repeatedly that all we had was first a tactical issue, and a support cast issue, you were foaming all over the place, looking for 30+ goal striker.
Now we scored the most goals in the PL as at today without having a 30+ goal striker, and you still want to claim correctness?
Airmark get some shame na. If i post all you typed to defend your wasteful Jackson, i may be banned. So, rest and embrace your wasteful Jackson. nateevs: When I was here backing my boy to score 20 goals, you were busy pointing us to Diego Costa as the standard. Guess what? Diego never scored more than 20 goals for us. |

nateevs: This is not true. It's not as clear-cut as pro-defence v pro-attack.
I for one was always pro-balance, across all departments. Ibime for instance has always been pro-midfield, which is the fulcrum for the balance we all crave.
I, like you, saw the whole debate, and I can tell you that from what I learnt from Timbros, Kimbeast et al.....there's not a single person that was not pro-attack. You just had people who feel stronger about other departments. Anybody that kicked against replacing Jackson, wasn't pro-attack. You and Timbros were against it as you mocked and termed it looking for shiny striker. What good has your 'unshiny' Jackson done for us now?

timbros: You are lying to yourself in that bolded. Kimbeast literally posted my stance from the very beginning of this debate.... Was there any attack that messed up before I made that "balance" post?
Again, think for yourself. You have a brain. Make use of it. You wanted a new CB, despite having Tosin joining and wanted Jackson to continue to play loads and loads of games this season as his wastefulness didn't bother you. You were also against signing a LWF when Sancho was rumoured to be joining. That's your own composition of finding a balance, which was foolish and I was against. |

@Thazard, even Ibime educated him but Timbros wasn't ready to learn. Don't waste your time on the Balanciaga man. Ibime: In this day and age of VAR giving out penalties wotowoto, unlimited injury time to account for time wasting etc, conditions favour attack than defence. Days of 1-0 matches are over. Chances are if you base your team on defence like Chelsea of 2005, you will drop more points on average. Playing in your own box now is an invitation to VAR to award penalties against you and invitation to opposition attackers to look for initiate contact and go down
Yes we can improve on defence, but I bet if our attackers had been finishing their chances early, allowing us to control the game and simultaneously demotivating our opponents, our goals conceded record would be better. Instead what is happening is we fail to score, opponents ginger, score against us some time in 2nd half, then we overextend ourself while chasing equaliser and concede a 2nd goal. All those could have been avoided if our attackers put us in control in the first half by finishing their chances. The emboldened happened again this season while our striker failed to score in 12 consecutive matches. But how do you convince Timbros who doesn't watch our matches?. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by airmark(m): 10:39am On May 09, 2025 |
timbros: You do know that there is something called major problem and minor problem and that a balanced team fixes both part of the problems?
Read my comment again that Kimbeast posted. That has been my stand from day one. Infact click the link he posted to see the genesis of this debate.
Airmark knows exactly what a balanced team looks like but he never want to admit our defence has the major issue. He wants people like you to believe that anyone who argues against him is completely on the opposite side. Since he is pro attack 100 percent, anyone who has a different opinion is 100 percent pro defence. Does that make sense?
Statistics proved that our attack from last season massively improved from 2 seasons ago. But the defence from 2 seasons ago became more worst last season... So where does the major problem lie? An improved attack or a defence getting worst?
If I ask you for proof is speaking from both side of my mouth now, you will start running from pillar to post.
Think for yourself. Use your own brain. Stop allowing people do your thinking for you. Balderdash as usual. To you, Jackson wasn't our problem. Just tell us the reason you hate me and Chelsea this much. timbros: All of airmark agenda ends here, Nairaland.
Come next season, he will still watch loads and loads and loads of Nicholas Jackson.
No two ways about it. |
