Even the most foolish person on this board understood that we were arguing about what was of utmost importance to do to the team as at that time. It was based on the squad we had that time, with Caicedo and Enzo summing up to north of 200m in that midfield. We were creating numerous big chances and your jakujaku Jackson and Sterling were wasting most of them. Hence, the urgent need to upgrade the attack.

To cut a long story short, with the same midfield and defence, we won the World club cup because we replaced your jakujaku Jackson as i suggested. The same defence and midfield had a clean sheet with the then reigning UCL champions- PSG. Midfield was the least of our problem, so why should we waste scarce funds on a midfield of 300m+? If it doesn't break don't fix it, but you will rather leave the house engulfed with fire and be chasing rats.

I think i now fully understand why you are team outscore - you know that the defense is actually weak!

The function of midfielders is not only to link the defence to the attack. When you have natural midfielders they understand all their roles not only with the ball but without it, your average defence will even look good.

Let me give you an instance against Arsenal. Odegard was free to score that winning goal because no midfielder tracked his run. While the ball was in Tzolis legs a natural midfielder say Caicedo. would have scanned his area and smelt the danger in a free Odegard dashing into the box. Though very late, Declan Rice smelt danger in Rogers run and impeded him at our end. In fact, Enzo intercepted a pass to Fernandes at Old trafford on Sunday by tracking his run.

The point I am making here is, you can’t come and shout about defence when your midfielders are not on the field. We sold Enzo and failed to replace him and our main ball winner in the middle is injured. A major function of the midfield is to shield the defence. Without Rice and Guimaraes, that Arsenal defence will be exposed and concede heavily against a prolific attack.

If Caicedo returns and we get another midfielder by January, Timbros and his gang will now say Alonso has done what they clamored for. We know their antics but we will expose it early.
