I have blamed Kovacic of being guilty of the same thing, however my focus is not Kovacic. Nobody is hyping Kovacic as the best thing since sliced bread here. Silva has little fault. He is the spare man. Silva will be stupid to commit too early to a one on one with Bernadeschi being the last man. Last man does not commit to duels early especially in a 3 man defence cos if you lose a duel as last man, it is over. He would be surprised to see a ball dropping to Bernadeschi unchallenged in-between the DM and last man. The last man is insurance, and only duels if absolutely necessary, that's why I said we keep a spare man 5 yards back when playing defence. Everybody else duels and anything that falls from a duel will fall to spare man 90% of the time. If Silva had gone tight to Bernadeschi early in that sequence, Bernadeschi is open to the possibility of one dribble putting him through on goal.

Like I said, keep your monkey post talks for monkey post. Yes, when the ball is in the other end of the pitch, I am looking for man to mark if I play in a defensive position. I played striker for my uni team 2 seasons and centreback for one season after injury. Played leftback for my college team and LW and CM for my school team and age-grade competitions. When playing defensive positions, that's all we do when the ball is in opponents half, look for players to mark and leave one man spare 5 yards behind to clean up any loose ball.

Jesus already know what he wants to do. Twist and shoot. As soon as Cancelo's shot landed on his feet, he he pushed the ball away from Jorginho. As a defender, what will you do there? Push him? Kick him? Tackle him? Jorginho did the best thing to have done: guide him away from the box. Jorginho cannot use his body on Jesus like Ibime is trying to opine because Jesus is not pinned to him. Jesus took one or 2 touches out and took that shot while turning.

Like I said, no one will prevent him from taking the shot.... The best you can do is block the shot, which Jorginho tried but failed.

Nobody would have prevented Jesus to take that shot. Highest thing to have happened is Jorginho blocking it, which would have happened if his foot connected well with the ball. It didn't connect well hence the deflection.

That's why I give credit to Jesus for even trying to squeeze out a shot in that tight situation.

All game long, Rudiger was man marking Jesus.

How did he sleep? How can you say the ball shouldn't have reached Jesus when it's a shot that slammed on Jesus feet. So Jorginho should have traveled faster than the shot to not allow it reach Jesus?
