In the west Even, if you are not very familiar its better to call their title or Mr XX. Unless you are his friend or family you wont just call Obama "Barack" or Trump "Donald"

What would be advisable in a professional setting is that until you get the permission to call by their first name, keep it official. You cant go wrong with Mr XYZ until he corrects you. usually do is call their initials, Like Tinubu will be called BAT, Buhari would be called PMB, Fashola would be called BRF, Folusho Phillips would be called FOP etc, So you still try t be western but maintain some level of respect
