Jarus: I have read comments on this thread that almost got me into tears.
The accounts of those that did not get the jobs are very touching. I was almost moved to tears by some of them. I can imagine the pressure, the expectation, the hope.
It’s just how life is.
It’s not the end of life. In my final year in Ife in 2006, I had a classmate that could barely pay the N17k school fees. He struggled to raise the money till the last day. He was my good friend. Very brilliant guy (first class actually) but from a very humble home.
When we graduated and started job hustling, anytime he came to Lagos, he used to squat with me in my brother’s house. Sometimes, I would even be the one to “dash” him N500 for transport fare back to his state (in the SW).
He wrote the test of Accenture and they said he didn’t pass.
We both wrote the test of an investment management firm in 2006 (we started job hunting even before NYSC) immediately after graduation. I got the job. He didn’t get it.
His morale was affected. Everyone knew he was more brilliant than I was. His confidence was being affected but he soldiered on.
Guess what? In 2008, few weeks after out NYSC, he got job in an IOC that is perceived to be the best place to work in Nigeria.
That changed his life and that of his family and his generation.
The last time we saw, in 2016, he just “warmed” his new house in Lekki which cost him over N60m. I don’t have that despite starting earlier than him. That’s aside his house in his hometown.
This was someone that was rejected by Accenture and Vetiva, small firms.
So guys, NNPC rejection is not the end of life. We have all been rejected by one employer or the other at one point in life. I failed GTB test in 2007 or so (first time I’m saying this anywhere). Today, I probably earn more than a senior manager in GTB. If I had passed the job test in 2007, I would not even have risen to become a manager in GTB today given the multilayered bank career ladder.
So guys, the race is not for the swiftest as the Christians say. And as we Muslims say, what will hit you will not miss you. Thank you Sir, I am inspired. |

NosaJBourne: Are you having hard times securing a job? Tired of doing teaching jobs without being paid? Or you need an extra source of income, a side hustle? You are good in any STEM or Business subjects?
Then try this....
I’ve been doing this online tutoring job since November last year. My main job is to assist high school and college students in their course work, by providing well explained and non plagiarized answers to questions on various subject areas. You get paid 0.7 USD for each high school question answered, and 0.9 USD for each college question answered.
That's what I do at the moment while I continue my search for a lucrative job. I handle mainly questions from Biology and Health subjects. All I do is to log on to the account created for me, and then selected any question I can conveniently answer. I mainly focus on working or 4 to 5 days in a week. Most of the time, before 12noon, I’m done answering at least 7 questions. My target is to answer nothing less than 30 questions correctly in a week. In a month, that is 120 questions. At this conservative and less stressful work rate, you can earn nothing less than 25k in a month, or more if you are really good in any STEM or Business subjects like accounting, economics. I get paid the next month for work done in the previous month. Direct to my bank account.
I have found this a better side hustle/part time job compared to other teaching jobs.

Use any of the links above to apply. You should be contacted to take their online assessment tests within 10 working days.
PS: Replace "DOT" with "." in the links provided.
After applying, in about 10 working days, you should get a mail from them containing a link you'd follow to take an online test on the use of English. If you score above 85% I think, you would be instructed to take another test. The next test shouldn't be that difficult to pass. You just need about 4 points to pass. Then, you get a congratulatory mail. In about 5 working days, documentation should be done and you are ready to start answering questions.
LatinHire is the agent responsible for hiring and paying subject tutors who answer questions posted on brainly.com. It's a US based site for high school students and college students for learning purposes.
Answers provided by tutors are usually being monitored and rated on a weekly basis by a quality assurance team.
Here is a link to one of the questions I answered on the site: it was rated 5 by the quality assurance team. The rating you see on the site is random rating from viewers. The real rating is done and compiled by the quality assurance team and sent to you on a weekly basis. Only answers rated 4 and 5 are being paid for. Your main job is to provide easy to comprehend answers that are correct and well explained without plagiarism.

GeniusOla: Good point, however it is what we have reduced Christianity into, the Ethiopean eunuch who was in charge of all the treasury of the candace queen of ethiopia at that time, still needed a philip's explanation of scriptures. It is a big error to reduce Christianity to getting things. Jesus' birth in itself is a lesson, born in a manger, son of a carpenter, his goal wasn't to overthrow the jewish government at that time, the rich and noble was in his audience but he never gave them preference, he came solely for the problem of sin ( this has singular application to the rich or poor, elite or ignorant, civilised or uncivilized). If you like, live in atlanta Georgia for 40 years, you won't outgrow sin, you won't outgrow the supernatural. After the draugth peter caught, jesus told him "follow me" (theres something more important than catching fishes i want to show you), catching men! (the sin problem). Christainity is "man focused" not "things focused" (you don't need, love, patience, gentleness, temperance, meekness for things but men). God's will for you is not to become the Richest man alive(an atheist can become that) but that you grow selfless enough to lay down your life for the salvation of another (the sin problem). Its good to have money and the good things of life, but it shouldn't be priority, "the things of earth stood next to him, like a candle to the sun" (hillsong). Don't reduce Christianity to solely getting things men can get by alternatives. Its far far beyond... I will stop here. (Forgive my long post) I knew my crush on you wasn't in vain. Exegesis of the Gospel ( forgiveness of sins) I hail Sir. We need to connect. How do people do it here self? Please we need to connect abeg. |

Butterflies in my stomach. I have been reliving the moment I get notified of my employment. Will i shout? Will i seat or kneel on the ground crying and thanking God? Who would I call 1st? Is it my mum who has been praying like she is the one applying or my best friend who has always been there for me, or my fiancé? I have been day dreaming of the moment i get notified, i have started calculating what i would do with my 1st salary. New friends to make( smart friends, the best of the best), futhering my education, establishing my fashion designing school. This is going to be along week. Gosh!... Well... Work can save me from my thoughts. Thank God its Monday. The dairy of a Woman (AJCA) |

NOTGOINGDOWN: What you have said is true though and I have two blood brothers that were once in that situation. One of them later went to learn vocational skills and after some months he started working on his own and got a volunteer offer to work for free at 32 years. After closing work daily he resumes to his personal business for close to two years before he later got a good-paying job. But the reason for his delay in graduation was that he started school very late and got delayed admission into University.
The other one was our firstborn, when he was jobless at 36 he learned Webdesign after which he started designing on Fiverr and later advanced into coding.
I know people are having challenges over the age issue which at times could be beyond their control. It could be as a result of family issues or their parent's mentality.
I wasn't supposed to have spoken that way in my previous post but the way the Elzaczaky2019 guy spoke made me angry and got me to react instead of responding or ignoring his post.
To those affected by the age barrier as a result of factors beyond your control I pray God opens your mind to see other opportunities more beneficial than this NNPC recruitment and don't rule out volunteering even if it is to end up doing other petty business after work so as to be able to compete favorably where you actually fit in. Seriously bro shit happens in life, we've got to keep going, there is always a way. One day the shit go stop to smell. God did opened my eyes o I did the interview but I have no hope on NNPC. If it comes, good stuff, if it doesn't, good stuff. I had to do clening jobs, I applied for teaching positions, no reply. I had to borrow money that I am yet to pay, for a fashion designing school. I will be graduating Nov. 6th. I already have serious clients. There is always a way out. We just have to keep looking and we will see. |

larride: Bros, if you are a lawyer, I’m sure you know that property law defer most times. The analogy you gave is for “Property law”. Car or house can be damaged or whatever. It doesn’t go along with this context.
The word you are looking for is “INTERIM INJUCTION”.
The case before the court is that the age limit is discriminatory. The judge order that status quo be maintained.
What is the status quo of the recruitment before the court case? What status were they maintaining? It simple means let things be the way they are. Don’t change the age limit, leave it the way they are until we hear the case.
It could have been a different case entirely if the judge had said; I hereby grant an interim junction to halt the recruitment process till an official decision is made.
There are several cases that support this but I don’t have the strength to start digging for cases.
Enjoy. You are a good teacher, I had no idea on status quo the context of this case but I understand now to an extent. |

NOTGOINGDOWN: Thanks for making us know your mind.
You don't need to blame the system always for your parent's fault. Ideally in this century, a graduate that has a purposeful life would have something doing at the age of 28years which should make him/her qualify for posts above graduate trainee level.
So, you mean NNPC was not fair enough to put the limit for GT at 28. Why do you think the cap for NYSC is 30years?
If you graduate from secondary school at 18, got admission into OAU or Lautech at 20, you graduate at 26 and finish NYSC at 27. So definitely you are qualified for the recruitment as GT in as much as you didn't graduate with anything less than a 2:1 but if you have made good use of your life between those breaks you would have been engaged in something meaningful that would have given you an edge over those kids below 24 years but that is not the way it is. Even some of those kids have added more value to their life than you have. The fact that you didn't make proper use of your life does not give you the right to blame the system for your problem.
Please if you want to prove to me that the system is at fault and not that you are truly an irresponsible person tell me why someone above 28years shouldn't be applying for the EH role. So bad that shit happens. |
