No fewer than six countries have already refused to grant an asylum request by the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke, the Business Council for Africa (BCA) said in its just-released monthly report, noting that about US$ 1 trillion is the latest estimated figure of the looting of the Nigerian treasury between 1960 and 2005 alone.

The report, dated March 2015, focused extensively on Nigeria’s general elections. It said the notorious Minister, whose impunity is known to have been closely-protected by President Goodluck Jonathan, will be coming under the microscope for the first time in her Ministerial career.


“Given her reputation, it comes as no surprise to learn that 6 countries have already refused to grant her asylum to live in their countries as she now wishes to leave Nigeria at the earliest possible opportunity,” it said.

BCA recalled President-elect Muhammadu Buhari lamenting that the rest of the world looks at Nigeria as the home of corruption, one where stealing is not corruption but a way of life, and that his administration will pursue all public offices and individuals who are believed to be guilty of corruption.

It observed that despite an earlier promise, it is now understood that Buhari’s anti-corruption fishing net will include Ministers currently serving under President Goodluck Jonathan. Alison-Madueke’s departure from Nigeria is likely to be followed by several other PDP elders, party members and supporters as well as some former Government officials, as Buhari's anti-corruption drive will be far-reaching.

“It will be very interesting to learn in the coming months exactly how far back in Nigeria's history his administration will go in the pursuance of those who have robbed Nigeria of US$ 1 trillion, which is the latest estimated figure of theft from the Nigerian treasury between the period 1960-2005.

Given that President Jonathan's administration is considered the most corrupt of any of its predecessors, that figure is going to be considerably magnified, but whether the new President will wish to pursue former Heads of State is a matter of interest and considerable debate to Nigerian observers. It is this subject that is primarily responsible for Buhari's success in winning the election as well as his campaign promises to eradicate Boko Haram, revive the economy and rebuild Nigeria to make its position as the number one country in Africa.

Following her failure to get President Jonathan and the ex-head of state, Gen Abdulsalam Abubakar secure a soft landing deal for her from Gen Buhari last weekend, Nigeria’s controversial petroleum minister, Mrs Diezani Alison Madueke has fled the country to the United Kingdom.

Naij.com is reporting that a reliable source in the presidential villa said that “madam had to take off far ahead of the inauguration of the government of Gen Buhari because she is scared he may turn his searchlight on the oil sector.” Ironically, the minister who is widely known to travel around in private jets had to travel this time in the first class cabin of the British Airways flight.


When contacted to confirm the minister’s whereabouts, one of her aides who asked for anonymity confirmed Alison-Madueke indeed left the country on Monday morning but gave a different reason for the trip. According to the minister’s aide “it is true the Hon. Minister traveled but she went to take care of her health because she has been down medically and she needs proper medical attention.”

Asked when the minister will be back in the country, the aide said “no one can say when she will be back. That depends on her health and the advice of her doctors. She may come before May 29, she may decide to stay back with her children over there till anytime to take care of herself.”

Mrs Alison-Madueke is yet to account for the $20 billion which the former CBN governor and now Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has continued to insist was diverted from the federation account by the minister and her cronies in the NNPC.

Transgender hip-hop artist accused of killing a London break dancer with an illegal buttocks injection name-dropped her way through testimony Friday, claiming that model Amber Rose was among the celebrities who had sought out her services.

According to Dailymail, Padge-Victoria Windslowe testified in court that Rose, 31, started receiving injections from her before she became famous and continued until two days before the 2011 death of 20-year-old dancer Claudia Aderotimi.

She said under cross-examination that rapper Kanye West dropped her off for one procedure when the two were dating and that she was supposed to perform a 'correction' on Nicki Minaj that never happened.

Clients from rappers to strippers to fellow transgender women paid thousands of dollars to plump their posteriors, Windslowe said.

'Amber was like a walking billboard, 'She brought a lot of girls from VH1.'

Valerie Ndomo, 30, from Cameroon, took her own life on Monday after an alleged phone call misunderstanding with her boyfriend.

The boy is an element of the Rapid Intervention Battalion, BIR) presently securing the high seas around Kribi. She was seen earlier in the day full of life and confidence until still received a strange call.

Neighbors said she was seen arguing with someone suspected to be her boyfriend on the phone. That was the last time she was seen alive, until someone raised an alarm that the pregnant Valerie had hanged herself behind the house.

Four more patients undergoing treatment for the deadly Ebola Virus Disease have been discharged from the Ebola Emergency Treatment Centre in Lagos.

The Minister of Health, Onyebuchi Chukwu, in a statement on Monday, said the discharged patients have now being confirmed to be Ebola free. The identities of the survivors were however not disclosed.

Mr. Chukwu said three of the patients – two male doctors and a female nurse – participated in the treatment of the index case, Patrick Sawyer, while the fourth patient was a female patient at the First Consultant Hospital at the time Mr. Sawyer was on admission.

This development brings the number of discharged persons to five. One of the patients, who tested positive to the virus was discharged on Saturday, after she was declared Ebola free.

Mr. Chukwu had earlier indicated that more than half of the patients being treated were responding to treatment. The minister said all the persons under surveillance were secondary contacts. Mr. Chukwu added, “All the patients under treatment have now moved to the new 40-bed capacity isolated ward provided by the Lagos State Government.

“Additional equipment has also been made available to the new isolating ward by the Federal Government’’, he said.

Mariah Carey proudly posted a pic of herself in a slinky yellow dress and wrote, “Backstage in Nigeria” on Saturday. But maybe the songbird should have done some homework before agreeing to the gig?

Her show was at Access Bank’s Christmas Party which was also a farewell bash for the bank’s managing director. And while Access Bank is a reputable financial institution, should Carey have known a few basics about the African nation before taking the paycheck?

Ironically — given that she was performing for bankers — it seems Carey wasn’t aware Nigeria is well-known as the center of the world’s email financial crimes! Nigeria is even part of the name — as in “Nigerian 411 Scams.”

Nigeria is also, according to the United Nations, the hub of human trafficking as “a source, destination and transit country.

AND, just for good measure, there are mass killings going on in two Nigerian states right now, and according to Human Rights Watch, the violence is being ignored by federal authorities.

“Systemic corruption in the Nigeria Police Force” is the problem, a HRW spokesperson told CNN.

Carey isn’t the first performer who has taken a paycheck for appearing in countries known for terror, death and fraud.
