An Abuja High Court has granted bail to the former Chairman of House of Representative Ad Hoc Committee on fuel subsidy payments, Justice Mudashiru Oniyangi, granted them bail Friday in the sum of N10 million each and two sureties each in like sum.

The Judge further directed them to submit their international passports with the court registrar, adding that they can only travel outside Nigeria with the permission of the court.


House of Representatives member, Farouk Lawan and Boniface Emenalo had been detained in prison Friday last week Over their involvement in the $620,000 bribe allegation.

The accused are being prosecuted by the Federal Government for collecting $620, 000 (N93 million) as bribe from business man, Femi Otedola, to remove his company, Zenon Oil, from the list of indicted companies.

The High Court Judge has fixed April 10 and 17 for hearing.

Mario Balotelli, whose wacky antics have filled the British newspapers almost daily in the last two and a half years, is set to return to Italy with AC Milan after a deal was agreed with Manchester City on Tuesday.

The Italy striker, a boyhood Milan fan, first broke through at rivals Inter Milan and is returning home for a fee media reports have put at 20 million euros ($26.92 million) after a largely frustrating spell with the English champions.



"Transfer agreement for Balotelli signed with Manchester City. Medicals tomorrow in Milan, then personal terms until 2017," Milan director Umberto Gandini said on Twitter.

The club's TV channel said the same.

City manager Roberto Mancini, who gave the player his debut at Inter, had said Balotelli would not be leaving in the January transfer window but the striker's desire to go back to Italy appears to have won the day.

Tales of the 22-year-old blowing up his bathroom with fireworks or walking into a school asking for the toilet have amused British fans but City supporters have felt shortchanged after he netted just 20 league goals since his 22 million euro move from Inter.

Going back to Italy will be no walk in the park though for Balotelli, with Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi recently saying his fifth-placed Serie A side did not need a "rotten apple" like the combustible forward.

Berlusconi later apologised.

Controversy also followed Balotelli while at Inter where team mates once assaulted him for wearing Milan colours. He also got into trouble for turning up at a northern Italian prison and asking to look around.

Even the wily Jose Mourinho, Inter's 2010 Champions League-winning coach, labelled him "unmanageable".

Italian leaders and champions Juventus - whose fans racially abused Balotelli when he was last in Serie A - were also interested in signing him after he shone for the national side at Euro 2012, sources close to the talks told Reuters.

Galatasaray announced the signing of Didier Drogba from Shanghai Shenhua on a one-and-a-half-year contract on Monday.

The Chelsea legend has long been linked with a return to Europe after leaving Stamford Bridge for China in the summer, and, despite rumors of interest from Italy, the Turkish champions have won the race for his signature.


"Big clubs can reach for higher targets with bigger goals," team president Unal Aysal said.

"Drogba said that he was very happy to play for a big club like Galatasaray in the future. Drogba met our coach and decided to come to Galatasaray."

The Cote d'Ivoire icon will earn 2 million euros for the remainder of the 2012-13 season, and 4 million euros for the duration of the 2013-14 campaign, with an additional bonus of 15,000 euros for each match he plays.

Both AC Milan and Juventus had been closely linked with a January move for Drogba, but Gala announced yesterday that it had opened talks with the player.

He will link up with his new teammates once Cote d'Ivoire's involvement at the Africa Cup of Nations ends.

Galatasaray has been one of the most active teams during the Janaury window so far. Wesley Sneijder completed a move from Inter to Galatasaray last week for a transfer fee believed to be in the region of 10 million euros.

Serena Williams’ dominating run at the majors is over. American teenager Sloane Stephens is headed to the semifinals of the Australian Open.

Williams hurt her back in the eighth game of the second set, hampering her serve. She had treatment and recovered well enough to give herself a shot at winning the match, but the 19-year-old Stephens kept her composure in a 3-6, 7-5, 6-4 victory on Wednesday.


It was the first loss since Aug. 17 for the 15-time Grand Slam winner, ending a run of 20 consecutive wins. She hadn’t lost a match at a Grand Slam tournament since the French Open, where her first-round exit sparked a resurgence in the second half of 2012 that included titles at Wimbledon, the London Olympics, the U.S. Open and the WTA Championship.

After winning her first Grand Slam quarterfinal, Stephens next plays defending champion Victoria Azarenka.

Williams walked around the net to congratulate Stephens, who then clapped her hand on her racket and waved to the crowd, a look of disbelief on her face.

She then went to her tennis bag, pulled out her phone and started checking for any text messages from her mother.

“I was hoping she had texted me right away. I thought maybe she was texting me during the match,” Stephens said. “I’m sure my grandparents are like freaking out.”

Stephens has said she had a photo of Williams up in her room when she was a child, and had long admired the Williams sisters.

“This is so crazy. Oh my goodness,” Stephens said, wiping away tears in her post-match TV interview. “I think I’ll put a poster of myself (up) now.”

For her part, Williams said the bad back was just another problem to contend with at a Grand Slam event that had been “absolutely” her worst for injuries.

“Everyone at this stage in the locker room has something wrong with them. It’s no excuse,” she said. “I went for this drop shot and it just locked up on me. I couldn’t really rotate after that.

“It was a little painful, but it’s OK.”

Williams was up a set and a break before Stephens settled in. In the eighth game of the second set, Williams was chasing a drop shot to the net when she appeared to jar her back. She needed a medical timeout after the set, and then slowly started to regain the speed in her serve.

But she was clearly frustrated at times, smashing her racket into the court in the third set and then flinging it toward the chairs on the side of the court. She looked to the sky occasionally and yelled at herself.

Azarenka, with her most famous fan sitting in the crowd wearing a shirt reminding her to keep calm, overcame some early jitters to beat Svetlana Kuznetsova 7-5, 6-1 in the earlier quarterfinal match at Rod Laver Arena.

After dropping serve in a long fourth game that went to deuce 10 times, Azarenka recovered to dominate the rest of the match against Kuznetsova, a two-time major winner who was floating dangerously in the draw with a No. 75 ranking as she recovers from a knee injury.

Ashley Cole's contract was due to expire at the end of the season, and there had been speculation that he could be on his way out of the club.

"I am pleased I will be starting my eighth season at Chelsea," Cole said. "I have great memories here and I enjoy coming to training every day. The staff are amazing and I enjoy training with the lads.

"I have been able to fulfil nearly all my ambitions at Chelsea. I have won the Champions League, the League, I have won FA Cups here but of course you don't want to stop winning trophies and being at a big club, you are always fighting to win a trophy.

My niece stays with me. I have been responsible for her education and her up keep before I got married to my husband. So when I got married she moved in with me. She passed out of secondary school last year and still at home waiting for her admission. Her closeness with my husband is something I don’t understand. She is freer with him than me. Something tells me they are about to start an affair. This faithful night I called my husband and asked him what was going on between them, he said nothing. I told him to remember that this girl is my niece, my blood and he should be very careful. He fought me over it and I saw more signs.


I told my grandma and my aunty (her own mom) they said I was lying that I should give them a better reason if I want her out of my house. I feel like sending her out right now but I don’t have a genuine reason yet. I am not a kid, I know when something is about to happen. I can read through their body language. I sometimes hear her discuss with my husband in the living room and when I move closer she stops. I hear her voice clearly and when my husband leaves for the office I do call her and ask what they were discussing.

This girl will start swearing that she didn’t outer a word to my husband not to talk of discussing anything with him. I need to catch them this week. More so, her education is finished because I am no longer interested in spending a dime on her anymore. Imagine hearing your niece voice and she still has the effrontery to swear that it wasn’t her voice I heard. I am totally mad right now and want this girl out immediately. Who knows how I can catch them?

A man was electrocuted after scaling an electricity pylon and performing acrobatics in a drug-induced stunt.

The man, named only as Miguel, swung onto one of high-voltage cables causing a massive explosion before plummeting to the ground in Santiago, Chile.

The moment was caught in a dramatic amateur video filmed by one of the onlookers.

Horrified locals called police to the Lo Prado area of the Chilean capital yesterday afternoon after seeing the man 'playing around' on the pylon near his home, according to reports.

A crowd gathered as he climbed to the top at around 4pm before balancing on the beams and swinging back and forth inches away from the live wires.

Firefighters tried for 30 minutes to coax him down and placed an airbag at the foot of the pylon to catch him if he fell.

Neighbours said that it wasn't the first time the man had performed dangerous acrobatics on pylons in the area after becoming high on drugs.

But this time his legs touched one of the cables, killing him instantly and causing an explosion which set fire to two nearby houses.

The flames were quickly put out but more than 500 homes were left without electricity.

During his Atlantic City show on Sunday night, West decided to announce that Kim was expecting to all his fans.

A three-year-old boy had a lucky escape after his mother found a box of seven deadly snakes in his wardrobe.

Kyle Cumming had found the snake eggs in his garden in Townsville in Queensland, Australia and was given a takeaway container to put them in.

Several weeks later his mother Donna Sim was shocked when she opened the bedroom wardrobe to discover the box full of recently hatched eastern brown snakes – the world’s second deadliest species.

Wildlife carers said Kyle was very fortunate as his mother discovered the eastern brown snake babies before he took them out to play or before the hatchlings had grown strong enough to push open the lid by themselves.

Ms Sim said she had given Kyle the takeaway container when he found the eggs but had not thought more of it until she found the snakes in her son’s bedroom.

‘I was pretty shocked, particularly because I don't like snakes,’ she told the Townsville Bulletin.

‘He is extremely lucky that his mother found them before he opened up the container and played with them,’ North Queensland Wildlife Care reptile co-ordinator Trish Prendergast told the Townsville Bulletin.

‘Otherwise he may not be with us today.’

The eastern brown snake is widely considered the second most venomous snake in the world, behind the inland taipan.

They are common in Australia and are responsible for a majority of lethal snake bites recorded in the country.
