Family › Re: Am I Being Stuck Up? by Ajibade123(m): 9:06am On Jul 29, 2025 |
Kobojunkie: . First of all, there is nothing wrong with you, and you don't need to change who you are for anyone out there, including someone who supposedly wants to date you. You don't seem to be the dramatic talker, and that is very much OK. If the guy demands you communicate with him often and you are not comfortable with it, you are allowed to look elsewhere for what you seek instead. The moment you begin to change your person to please others, you begin to hand power over your person to them.
You are at the age where you need to have figured out at least much about what you would need in a partner and what you should not settle for in a relationship. Then search yourself, and honestly ask yourself if this person you are with now is someone you should truly invest your time and effort into. (Note that it could also not be that the person is wrong, but that you are just not ready now—timing is simply off.) If you conclude he is not the one or good for you, please let him know you are not ready, and kindly move on to focus your attention on other, maybe more productive, things. If you see him as the right partner and the timing is right, ask yourself why you are still unwilling to step out of yourself to initiate communication. Is it your personality at play, or just that you are not as convinced of him as you would like to be at this time? Be honest with yourself and be honest with him, too!
Only ever make a change if and only if that desire for change comes from within you, meaning that you have kinda resolved that the particular change would be to your very benefit(and maybe to others as well). Resolve never to change anything about your person in order to please others or because you are being pressured into doing so. That way, you minimize the chances of losing yourself to others. Don't let anyone bully you into doing what you are not ready for or wanting to do. This is your life, so live it the best way for you, and that way you will have no regrets to cry over.
By the way, if you decide that being single is the best way forward, that is OK too. Approximately 50% of the population live and die single— they never get married. So, if you decide singledom is the way, you are not even remotely alone in that. BeautybyTy don't let this user above deceive you, men of these days are no longer patient like when you were growing up, if he puts in 10 efforts, he expects you too to put in at least 5 efforts, that is what will make him certain you are the one for it. |

Investment › Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Ajibade123(m): 12:40pm On May 28, 2025 |
freeman67: Nothing hard. If you already have the funds you intend invest just go to your bank and tell them you want to invest in Treasury Bill.
There is secondary market where you can invest every working day through banks or other investments houses mostly between 10+12:00 so long as it's available. Then primary where the government issue through banks and other investments houses fortnightly ( Every 2 weeks) except for few occasions where it's auctioned at the adjacent week. The primary market issues the investment for 91 (3 months) , 182 (6 months) and 364 (1 year) only while in the secondary market you can find other tenure available. You can see 54 days, 20 days, 289 days etc according to what's available but not not more than 364. Infact most not upto.
There is usually a calender for the Primary Market. You ask for the calender here for who has it to help you post it.
From my personal experience the banks you can easily subscribe/invest through is FBN and Stanbic IBTC. If you have other areas of doubt, ask questions. As you as do, more experienced people around will contribute and enlighten you more. Thank you very much sir my best best is the secondary market then since I can't afford the primary market amount |
Investment › Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Ajibade123(m): 8:33pm On May 27, 2025 |
freeman67: To my understanding true yield is the complete return on investment. Yes, TB interest is paid upfront. However, if you are are not in urgent need of that money, you may still reinvest. Meaning there is an option of reinvestment of interest with some bank while investing and if you do that, you will get the true yield on that investment.
You did not include the amount and tenure you are looking to invest even with that picture but let's say you intend to invest the sum of N100,000 for 364 days.
In my layman's calculation that will be 100,000÷100x 19.5600 = N19,560. Meaning at current stop rate of 19.5600% your interest on 100k for 364 days is 19,560 which will be paid upfront barring commissions and charges. Then your 100k will be paid back to you at the end of the tenure.
However, if you decide to ask them to now reinvest your principal with interest now, meaning instead of paying you upfront you decide that you want to collect it at maturity, that 19,560 will still yield something. That's the true yield. Please sir, how do I get started as a layman |

Family › Re: My Dad Wants To Settle Me With 7 Million, I Need Advice. by Ajibade123(m): 9:36pm On Apr 19, 2025 |
relaxfun: A little back story.
Due to some ugly circumstances, i dropped out of school in 2019 and I've been at home since then, periodically picking up one or two low paying jobs. 2 years ago, I decided to learning a tech skill. I taught myself C++ programming language and I'm currently teaching myself mathematics aggressively, studying for min of 8 hours daily.
For the past two years, I've mostly always been in my room, I can be in our house for more than two weeks, without stepping a foot out of our door due to how engrossed in studying I always am. My goal is to learn C++, DSA , And Math to an undergraduate level then use my skills to apply for scholarships to study abroad, and probably work in a hedge fund company as a quantitative trader in the future. For those who know what leetcode is, i can currently solve most leetcode (hard) problems in less than 40 minutes.
Now, I'll be 24 in August, and my dad is worried that I'm wasting my life away because I've refused to pickup any real job or learn a trade, his worried that I'm already getting old, always reminding me that people my age are already getting married. Now he wants me to leave his house to go look for my own place to stay, and has offered me 7 million naira to go start life else where.
Now I plan to move out of Lagos to PH or Akwa Ibom, then use part of the money to start up a computer business center, where I'll be doing typing, printing, lamination, jamb registration, GCE/WAEC registrations, etc. One of the reasons I chose this is because I've worked in a place like this before and I have experience in how to run such a place. Another reason is that, this business would give me time to also study and sharpen my Math/Programming skills. I plan to rent a shop that is big enough so that I can also be sleeping/living there.
Now I seriously need advicing because this is such a turning point in my life and the next few years is going to make or break me because there is no room for any disastrous bad decision Your dad seems to be a very nice man and you seem very determined, why not just go back to school and get a degree in Nigeria pending the abroad own works |

Travel › Re: Memoirs From Chile by Ajibade123(m): 11:06pm On Sep 04, 2024 |
tensazangetsu20: It depends on the school. The top schools like university of chile and pontifica catholica are the most expensive and cost around 15000 to 20000 USD for the program depending on the program. Other universities probably cost much less. For my program, I paid 8000 USD. Getting a job in chile will honestly depend on your skills and your level of spanish. Unlike other countries, Chile doesnt have a post work study visa. You need to make sure you can find a job within the two years of temporary residency they give to you or you cant extend your residency or apply for permanent residency. I got my visa in june, I was still in Nigeria and didnt come here till August. It took a month to get my card and my RUT which will enable me to work in Chile. It still took another 6 to 8 months to get a proper job. My residency expires next year and without a job in Chile and evidences of payments of taxes, health insurance and retirement benefits(AFP), there is no way to extend or apply for permanent residency. A menial job cant also extend your residency. It has to be a good career driven job related to what you studied. Average salary if you manage to get a good job is around 2000 USD a month.
I would only advise you to come to Chile if you are in tech and you already had like 3 to 4 years of work experience in Nigeria and you are willing to learn spanish. Pay your school fees for a year, pay your rent and be prepared. Anything else you are on your own but then again I dont know everything so you need to make your own research. Do they have scholarships |
