This heading has its source in the submission allegedly made by POTUS few days back, wherein he referred to some African nations as SHITHOLE. Many people have spoken for and against the assertion, but, in my opinion, one can hardly argue against 'factual facts'. Happenings in most African nations validates POTUS's submission.

One of such happenings is the fallout of the victory of the president-elect of Liberia at the polls few weeks back, Mr George Oppong Weah. Suffice to say that his party, Congress for Democratic Change, was prior to the election, in the opposition. In fact, he contested against the incumbent Vice-President Mr Joseph Boakai of the ruling Unity Party(incumbent president Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has already served the maximum terms allowable by the constitution).

Immediately George Weah was declared winner of the very closely-run election, the spokesman of the ruling party issued a statement expelling the incumbent president, Mrs Sirleaf from the party. "..... The behaviour of the expelled person constitutes sabotage and undermined the existence of the party......" read the statement.

What exactly was Mrs Sirleaf's offense? Perhaps, she refused to use state apparatus in aiding her party's victory at the polls. Perhaps, she didn't put her party's parochial interests above those of the masses.

Posterity is there to judge all the political gladiators in Liberia accordingly. But, whichever way one considers the expulsion of Mrs Sirleaf from her party because she abhorred connivance to thwart the will of the Liberian people, she did the right thing. That her party consequently took the drastic action on her shows one thing though- SHITHOLE MENTALITY.
