PoliticsWhat A Cheek! Aondoakaa Says Nigs Have No Right To Know Yaraduas Health Status by ajilete(op): 8:21am On Jan 12, 2010
what a blooming check! that we the tax payers and citizens have no right to know where the president is? Who are these half baked illiterates that end up in positions of power and havent a clue of the sensitivity and responsibility that goes with it? Whatever happened to the the ''servant leader role''? we have every right to know everything as in a so called democracy we ''voted'' him in. we need to know whether his competent, whether he is doing his job right or at all.We nees a bill of freedom of information because that is the only way to ensure so called leaders are doing what they are supposed to, and curb this blatant abuse of power. the minute one agrees to become a PUBLIC servant WE the people have every right to know. democracies all over the world cannot believe that our leader has been incommunicado for more than 47 days!!! aondoakaa speaks like an illiterate and he should really learn how to address the citizens that he WORKS for!!

PoliticsRe: Another Nigerian Passenger Arrested On American Flight by ajilete(f): 10:20pm On Dec 27, 2009
Looks like some over cautious air crew acting on the side of caution. apparently CNN is now saying the ''aggressive and disruptive passenger'' is not a serious threat. My guess is the man, a Nigerian, who spent a lot of time in the toilet as the plane was approaching landing was harrassed for spending close to hour in the loo when the plane was coming into land, in the light of what had just happened a day before. the flight also happened to be the same flight number and again from amstadam to Detriot. apparently he got annoyed and aggressive, abusing the crew andthey immediately thought, ''hmmm,Nigerian, male, toilet, HELP!!TERRORIST!!!""
According to CNN nothing suspicious was found on him nor any of all of the planes luggage.
Unfortunately the incident of Dec 25th will now put Nigeria on the terrist list, Imagine how difficult it will be for Nigerian young males looking for Visa now, or young male Nigerians travelling to the US, What an absolute mess, sigh,

FashionRe: Help! I'm Looking For Raw Shea Butter. by ajilete(f): 8:57pm On Nov 28, 2009
Go to any large local market- and ask for Ori. women that sell local herbs like red camwood powder and lemon grass etc usually sell it. Quite easy to find. Usually comes in cut squares and varies from N20 to N50 each for a small square, that looks like light butter.Good luck.

PoliticsIs There Any Hope for this country called Nigeria? by ajilete(op): 3:02pm On Nov 20, 2009
I really dont want to sound unpatriotic but-Senate and Rep impasse;no budget; no implimentation of budget;no light, no schools, corruption goes on unabated;banks flunder; yar Adua weak and sick;PDP corrupt and visionless, Niger Delta problem still glaring us in the face,, the list is soooooo long.
Is there any hope for us as a ''country'' called Nigeria or are we just denying the inevitable, whatever that is? Are leaders are bad, but what can we as citizens do apart from complaining (as they obviously dont listen)and cursing them ;praying for God to intervene on our behalf? already now again, they are taking $500m loan that they wont need to pay back til 2069. What that means in reality is that they have mortgaged our children future and you can bet that that money will go to personal houses in Dubai and shopping sprees in Harrods. Also keep in mind that research has said our oil wont last forever, by then when we are paying back and suffering for it they will all be dead and in their graves, their children enjoying the spoils of their ''labour''.
What in Gods name can we as citizens do?
PoliticsRe: Eko Atlantic City - The New Lagos (Cnn Inside Africa) by ajilete(f): 3:42pm On Nov 19, 2009
I think the Eko Atlantic is a very commendable project but there some things that have been overlooked. By reclaiming land more and more people will come to Lagos and before you know it will be overcrtowded again.
@Becomrich took the words out of my mouth, it was like he was ready my mind. What Gov Fashola should consider doing is buying land from Ogun,(Lagos is vey small) and develope the all levels of the best kind of housing in africa, as well as at least three major expressways from different directions into Lagos as well as train services. that way people can come in to work in Lagos but not necessary live there. It is an ambitious task but overpopulation and the possible neglect of other parts of Lagos are real threats.

PoliticsRe: Does Nigeria Need A Deliverance Or A Revolution? by ajilete(f): 3:17pm On Nov 19, 2009
we need a revolution, bloody or otherwise. I dont believe that Nigerians are bad people or that our religion is the way of our progress. It is our leaders that are bad and corrupt and because we the people watch how leaders steal money, build houses in Dubai, ship their children obverseas with the nations money, go overseas for healthcare we emulate this digusting behaviour. No one ever gets punished for the thievery. a slap on the wrist(aka bode George). they live amongst you and i, blatantly showing off their ill gotten wealth so how cxan the citizenry be any better.
My own question is how do we effect a change. By going out into the streets, not going to work? taking up arms? how? for a change to be effective EVERYBODY has to agree and commit to doing something the same. if we all individually live right in our houses and to each other it doesnt make any difference because the leadership is not affected by anything we are doing. Already we provide our own security, education, roads, water , electricity, jobs, the list is endless. the government doesnt do anything for us, they dont care!
What can we do to get out od this mess? If the government doest hear Nigeriams crying for justice and change then maybe they will take notice when they are made to pay for what they are doing the mismanagement etc. Someone needs to be made an example of,

PoliticsRe: Is Maryam Babangida Really Dead? by ajilete(f): 11:01am On Nov 17, 2009
It has been confirmed by the family who issued a statement this morning that Maryam Babangida is alive.

Personally i do not have much sympathy for the Babangidas. IBB has personally been responsible for  a lot of the mess that this country is in today.IBB reign was the beginning of mega bribries and wholesale corruption. It was during his reign that public officers realised that  they can get away with murder; anything.Have people forgotten the june 12 debacle? Those innocent military men that crashed to their death in suspicious circumstances? Dele Giwa? Vatsa? the 52-room hilltop mansion?unfortunately Maryam portrayed herself as an unrepentant glamazon even when people were suffering immensely. There didnt seem to be any empathy on her part. When those soldiers died at theier burial in Abuja she still wore her designer dudes like she was foing to a fashion show, instead of really sharing the grief of those poor widows, it seemed so tactless and insensitive. And remember that award she got in London, taking hundreds of jobless nigerian women to sing her praises when the other recipient, that Kenyan lady whose name escapes me came in her simple adire and ankara, Maryam got her jewels from De Veers and wore designer dudes! they treated Nigeria like their personal fifedom! while i sympathise with any womans suffering it is hard to forget that maybe things could have been very different if someone had ruled with intergrity and a conscience.
FoodRe: Ever Seen Strange Objects In Your Bottle? by ajilete(f): 3:08pm On Nov 03, 2009
@ dgreatrock,
dont forget that these bottles are all recycled. some of them have been sitting around for ages in rubbish heaps, anything can crawl inside. and being Nigeria, i bet they dont sterilise them properly. for some to find cockroach lavae in coke twice in the same week is alarming and tells you they dont wash them bottles!!!!

We once served a bottle of Star to a guest. This was probably 25 years ago now, curled up at the bottom a large dead centipede; not a milipede which is the smaller one. A centipede, that creature with hundreds of legs!!! Thank God the man hadnt taken a sip of his drink.

hello Yemmight,
well done on all your good work. you were spot on about the level i will have to start at; am about to start Intermidiate II (CIPM)as you said.
I wanted to know if ,apart from the books and study packs, there are any websites tht offer good information on human resources, especially as pertains to Nigeria as i wont have the time (am working)to attend lectures and plan to study on my own. Again many thanks
CareerRe: Human Resource Professionals: by ajilete(f): 7:56pm On Mar 20, 2009
can anyone tell me (Yemmight, where are you?)whether it is compulsory to pay for the lectures at CIPM? is it possible to self study with the list of books etc. The lectures are costly and you still have to pay for the exams, i think i read somewhere on the CIPM website that lectures are not compulsory. Please can someone, anyone clarify??

Beyonces dress was horrid!! Tight, yuk! the colour! the pattern, too much, too christmas wrapper with all that shiny gold leaf! Yuk! and the fish tail looked so tight it cut her figure in half making her legs look short/.
Portmans dress was lovely, simple and boy that colour, yummy
i agree with toohlo, angelinas dress was sooo boring and she was gripping onto Brad for dead life, Jennifer Anniston was same old same old, almost wall flowery, same red carpet look.
taraji looked delectable and classy
penelope cruz was like an angelic vision in ivory
kate winslet always dresses to suit her shape and colouring and looked great
Tilda as usual looked like something from the Adamms family! Frightening and im begining to think she does it on purpose, hsssss
i loved Mileys dress, it looked heavy but divine still!
Marisa Tomei over did it a bit becasue at the baftas or was it golden globes she looked like she was dressed for a tea party! but she did look nice at the Oscars.

FashionRe: Did You Like Michelle Obama`s Sense Of Style by ajilete(f): 12:11pm On Dec 27, 2008
Absolutely right Spike! Michelle is very tall, has a tiny short torso and long legs but then she has really big hips! Typically peared shape but tall and long legs with it. I agree that copying Hillary or Jackie O would be wrong as she has to discover her own unique style. She should stick to simple but impeccably cut styles and great colours. While she needs to be conservative, nothing stops her from being creative as she is young ( and dare i say black!)We have the right to want her to look great, especially on Inuguration Day!

FamilyRe: Potty Training: Aw Is It Done Pls? by ajilete(f): 12:44pm On Nov 17, 2008
Chisomquee is absolutely correct!!
i managed to potty train both my children at about 9 to10mths. Once they can sit up properly on their own.All you need to do is put him/her on the potty at the same time every morning, preferably after a drink of warm water. you may need to amuse your child so she will stay, i had to sit there in front of each with a toy, something rattly and noisy but i wasnt working full time at the time. if you have a house help you can get her to stay with your child and amuse her with a toy or music. When he /she has done the big one make a song and dance of it, ''Good boy, etc''. Then make sure you take her off so she doesnt associate the potty with a chair! if you are patient and do this for several weeks she/he will associate the potty with poopoo and eventually start asking for the potty. it worked for me and my children are of both sexes, and there was not much difference in their attitude to the potty.
FamilyRe: Children Raised In Nigeria Are Better? by ajilete(f): 2:45pm On Nov 13, 2008
i agree that better is too broad.
However children in UK are disadvantaged and it has to be said. The government has taken so much control that it is truly difficult to discipline your children the way you know will do them good in future. I taught in a school inLondon and boy o boy was it a baptism of fire. I could not believe the level of indiscpline and rudeness. The level of sickness amoung teachers in the uk, London in particular is so high because they just cannot cope with the behaviour of the kids, and this i must add was in primary school! Someone in my school was constantly being called up to her sons school, secondary, because he was always in trouble and once i passed his school and there was a police helicopter because there had been some fight with boys using bats and knives.
Everyone keeps to themselves because they are afraid of being stabbed or abused. Have you been on a bus at hometime? Gosh! These kids, thirteen and fourteen year olds were talking about graphic sex acts that theyd taken part in.It was so sickening that i had to get off the bus, as did a lot of other adults, especially some with young children. They do it to shock you so you can say something if you are stupid and then get the mob abuse of your life. Once i saw a child almost walking into the oncoming traffic while her teenage mum stood by puffing cirgerettes with her friends. When i said , ''Hey, your child, '' She hissed and said ''It aint your f***king business a**h***!''
Thank you very much. All this is just the tip of the iceberg!
True Nigerian children are not the same as we were when we were growing up. They are exposed to a lot of things. But i think the way we were brought up to respect people and property was not such a bad thing. Majority of Nigerians know what is good for their children and if you dont someone will surely teach you. In London noone cares and there arent much family values. the little there is the govt have suceeded in making people look like child abusers.
Here we are not perfect but by the time your uncle, neighbour, grand parents etc have a word or two your children will generally behave a bit better than one who is so used to not being told wrong or right.
Ultimatley its the waY YOu bring up the child AND the environment the child grows up in and i think the Nigerian environment is better.
FashionRe: Dress Suggestion For A Fourthieth Birthday Get-Together by ajilete(f): 2:38pm On Nov 11, 2008
ajiri avae:
if you are not sure what the dress code is then it go for a classic look that is timeless. black bootcut pants, white dress shirt (ruffles would be nice), killer heels, and a clutch will not let you down. you can carry a couple types of jewelry, flashy or casual, so when you see what the other guests are wearing you'll decide what is appropriate and wear it in the car.
i agree, something classic. Remember you want to feel comfortable but look stunning. don't be a slave to fashion and wear something that really doesnt suit your body or personality type. You want to wear something that you know you already look good in and NOT something that you will spend the whole evening pulling down or wondering wehter your boobs are hanging out! So do away with clubwear and midriff showing trashy cheap things. Spend a little bit more on great , good quality fabric and cut.  Classic black and white is good, but remember to that you don't want to look boring! you know what they say, life begins at forty! So don't rule out bold majestic colours like gold and red!You can't go wrong with heels becuase they make you look classy and sophisticated. and don't count lace, aso oke, or ankara out, you can make a lovely form fitting floor length dress if you have a fantastic tailor.
Personally id go for the dress but again it depends on what you feel more comfortable in and what you like. Theres nothing wrong in the classic trouser white suit, white is in!
And don't forget your accesories, pearls, beads and coral are timeless and very versatile and fashionable. I hope all this helps.
Good luck!

@Gamine
Clinique do loads of sunscreens, City block goes up to 50SPF.

@Madmax, i remeber i did read somewhere about mercury and makari, maybe am mistaken but bi did do some research on what Makari does contain,
I got the following info from a website, www.cosmeticsdatabase , that hold data on the ingredienst in cosmetics and their toxicity to humans.

Makari contains-Sodium hydroxide (Na OH), also known as lye, caustic soda and (incorrectly, according to IUPAC nomenclature) as sodium hydrate, is a caustic metallic base. Sodium hydroxide forms a strong alkaline solution when dissolved in a solvent such as water. It is used in many industries, mostly as a strong chemical base in the manufacture of pulp and paper, textiles, drinking water, soaps and detergents and as a drain cleaner.

DMDM Hydantoin - Moderate concerns of irritation to skin, lungs and eyes.

Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate- prohibited for use in cosmetics in us, jhapan and europe. Linked to immunotoxicity in humans.,
I think am going to check this website for other harmful ingredients in our cosmetics, mmmm
