In 1529, Imam Ahmad's Adal troops defeated a larger Ethiopian contingent at the Battle of Shimbra Kure. The victory came at a heavy cost but it solidified the Somali forces' morale, providing proof that they could stand up to the sizable Ethiopian army.

The victories that gave the followers of Imam Ahmad the upper hand came in 1531. The first was at Antukyah, where cannon fire at the start of the battle panicked the Ethiopian soldiers. The second was on 28 October at Amba Sel, when troops under the Imam not only defeated but dispersed the Ethiopian army and captured items of the Imperial regalia. These victories allowed the Somalis to enter the Ethiopian highlands, where they began to sack and burn numerous churches, including Atronsa Maryam, where the remains of several Emperors had been interred.[10] The country was looted by the Ahmad's forces, who destroyed several Christian monuments and oppressed the non-Muslim Amhara and Tigray.

Dawit II died in 1540 and his heir was captured by the forces of Imam Ahmad; the Empress was unable to react as she was besieged in the capital. In 1543, Ethiopian guerrillas were able to defeat the Somalis with the help of the Portuguese navy, which brought 400 musketeers led by Cristóvão da Gama. Although da Gama was captured in the Battle of Wofla, and later killed, in 1543 Ahmad himself was killed and his army destroyed in the Battle of Wayna Daga, with the help of surviving Portuguese musketeers. The Ethiopian/Portuguese force consolidated their victory by ambushing and destroying a second force under one of the Imam's subordinates. This turned the war around. The surviving Somalis were forced to withdraw from Ethiopia, leaving both kingdoms severely weakened.

No such entity existed, Eastern Africa was never united as one.Why are you making stuff up? To stroke your ego? cry
Not all of East Africa but most of Kenya, Somalia and half of Ethiopia. Tanzania, Southern Kenya were controlled by Arabs (Omanis)

You are confused.

By year 100 AD somalis were already in existance .
Somalis as Somalis didnt even exist in the time of the prophet in 700's. Because in the Quran it says that the prophets companions were sent to Zeyla then part of Abyssinia. Zeyla is now part of Somalia. This shows that their were no Somali identity and the word was not used at that time.

It was only after the clans became Muslim that they went to war against Ethiopia.

Funny how your making up history that even people in Southern Ethiopia dont even know about.

my boy, u don't know ur history.

The superior and well built negro from the south conquered those in the north in year 400 AD grin
Your making up your own history. During that time, Somalis didnt even exist, and much of the entire east of africa was controlled by Cushitic people.

These are all lies from the pit of hell.

What i know, and all scholars know is that the southern ethiopian came and conquered the native ethiopians, mr. Man grin
Now your just making up stuff. The Somalis were fighting Ethiopians in the 1500's, those they were fighting were Amahara, during that time, the ethiopians in the south (negro) were enslaved.

People threw stones at the van of four Somali nationals who had packed up their shop in Soweto on Thursday following clashes between locals and foreigners.

A crowd stood around the van, which the men were loading with stock, in Heald street, Meadowlands.

Two police vans were on the scene and officers stood close to make sure the crowd did not intimidate the foreign businessmen.

A boy in school uniform shouted: "They must leave, they want to kill us."

One of the Somali men, Shineh Farrah Abdillah, responded: "Why would I want to kill you, you are my brother", to which the boy answered: "You are not my brother".

The crowd became impatient and as the men finished packing their van and started the vehicle people began throwing stones.

Abdillah, who said he had been in South Africa since 2011, told Sapa: "The police were trying to help us but now I'm worried about myself because of these people."

Earlier on Thursday, Winnie Madikizela-Mandela was reportedly in Meadowlands to try speak to the people.

Police were on high alert in Soweto, the third day of clashes that left at least two people dead.

Several shops owned by Ethiopians, Pakistanis and Somalis were closed in Snake Park following the attacks.

Residents went on a rampage looting shops and attacking foreigners after a teenager was shot dead in Snake Park. Mthetheleli Siphiwe Mahori, 14, was shot dead, allegedly by a foreign shop owner on Monday. He was apparently part of a group that tried to rob the shop.

The violence spilled over to Braamfischerville, Dobsonville, Emdeni, Zola and Protea Glen.

ur stats are wrong. grin

But the population of southern ethiopians who are on top of northeen somalia is 15million
Somalia has 15 million Somalis, Ethiopia has over 5 million, Somalis in Ethiopia dont share a border with the southern people of Ethiopia.

Also the people in souther Ethiopia have been largely enslaved by Ethiopians of Cushitic/Semetic speakers.

And they are a moderate numbers of nigerians with soft hairs and the average northerner has straight nose.

My boy, i hope u know the southern ethiopians e xists and their population is more than that of somalis in somalia. grin
Southern Ethiopians are only a couple of milions are divided into many languages and religions. While Somalis have one language, one religion, one culture and are in Somalia,Ethiopia, Djibouti and Kenya.

not to mention southern Ethiopians are naked and dont even know their in a country called ethiopia. smiley

The irony is that you are here on a daily basis trying to belittle Bantus based on looks.A case of mental illness I presume or retardation possibly brought about by your incestuos history?
The irony is that you care about what people who enslaved your kind think of you. What you just said is not irony, which is ironic because I always say that Bantus have not evolved to know what irony means.

You must be high on fufu, Somalis consider anyone in Africa who isn't Ethiopian/Somali/Eritrean as Bantu. They dont care to differentiate between different people with nappy hair and wide noses.

But you are a special one, i hope to give you a Somali card. I will even give you E-soul who will be willing to do things to you that no human with dignity would do.

And why should they care how you see yourself? Why should you care, is your self-image not enough??
I am proud to be Somali, it is them who have the low self esteem who care about how people in the Horn identify as.

You should know this, especially after they were dying for you to say you were black, after you said you were Somali, they even rephrased the question a hundred ways. lol

Anyway, please dont communicate with me anymore. Go talk to your Bantu friends
