Visa Approved by the white man at window 9. There was a white woman standing behind him, but she left during the interview

Me: Good morning sir (he was still talking to the lady)
Me: Good morning sir (still talking)

VO: Pass me your passport
I passed my documents

VO: Why are you going to Georgia State University
Me: I am going for my Masters in Mathematics with concentration in Biostatistics

VO: That is a strange combination; Mathematics and Biostatistics
Me: The Department at Georgia State University is the Department of Mathematics and Statistics

VO: Good, that makes sense, so you're a Statistician
Me: Yes

VO: How many other schools did you apply to?
Me: I applied to 6 other schools

VO: Mention them
Me: George Washington University, American University, Villanova University, Bowling Green State University, Michigan Technological University, and University of Iowa

VO: How did you get this scholarship
Me: During my application process, I indicated that I was interested in being considered for a graduate assistantship position, I submitted my high GRE scores, my impressive transcripts, I wrote a statement of purpose, uploaded my resume, also, I submitted three letters of recommendations from my lecturers, also, the graduate director, Dr. Xx scheduled me for a Skype interview, I believe the admission committee were impressed with my overall profile and my performance during the skype interview

VO: he said something about University of Iowa, didn't hear him properly
Me: The program at University of Iowa is Masters in Statistics not Biostatistics

VO: Three colleges offer Statistics in University of Iowa
Me: ooh yes, I applied to the one in College of Arts and science (I said somewhere that I was rejected by University of Iowa but admitted in the remaining school)

VO: I actually graduated from University of Iowa but from the Statistics program offered by the College of Education
Me: oooh waoh, that is really nice, (smiling)

VO: I would be approving your Visa, the program at University of Iowa is actually nice, I wish you were going there, have a nice study in GSU, he said something about the visa pick up and resuming not earlier than 30days of the program start date
Me: I smiled, thank you sir and have a wonderful day grin grin grin

Ps: anytime he looked at me, I smiled cheesy grin grin

No document asked except passport and i20

I have two more posts incoming grin cheesy grin cheesy grin cheesy

Congratulations to you sis...
This is the first time I'm seeing someone sharing GSU experience here...

I have been targeting GSU for about 5 months now, The school is my best wish for PhD Medicinal Chemistry cause they have option for Bioinformatics...

I have written GRE 297 ( I plan to rewrite though towards sept) no TOEFL yet...(I'll write around Sept/Oct)
That's not even the issue... The help I need from you is to please give me a chance to ask questions as I want to start emailing the Grad cord.... Because only GSU sent me mail to tell me they saw my GRE score, I should get to know their programs and apply...
I've been restraining from sending an email to Grad Cord by the thought of not blowing it, and not making mistake or something

I don't want to guess my way around the application process and hoping it works ... I prefer to be mentored by someone who has gone down that road.... At least, the person has result to prove for the way S/he went about it.

I sent an in mail to you...

Please, help in guiding me start the journey of application through to GSU.

Thanks sis...

Hello wonderful people.

I'm back again o from part 14

https://www.nairaland.com/4672093/general-u.s.a-student-visa-enquiries-part/316

Wow wow wow!!!
I'm so glad to jam this forum this morning in my despiration and in Yoruba (Nigeria ti su mi) meaning I'm tired of Nigeria.
I saw the previous parts (or should I say seasons smiley ).

Please, I know my questions might not resonate with the current flow of issue on this platform but try and help a brother build hope again and provide guidance. God help us all.

I graduated from FUNAAB 2017
BSc Chemistry, CGPA 4.47/5.0
Finished NYSC 2018

I do Have a resilient passion for MSc in Chemical and Process Engineering and if not together, only Chemical Engr will do in the U.S. (BSc Chemistry is eligible for MSc Chemical Engr ), Due to my no sponsor at all situation, I would need a concrete assistanship over there and I go survive somehow. I know you guys understands the step by step strategies of abroad schooling. Abeg help your brother angry

Since July 2018, job job job, ( to gather money for GRE and TOEFL cause people say it is needed) but No!!! All my country industry want is a Chemical Engr... Most of them... And I wouldn't let go of the Industry, it's my dream to be a Chemist for industries, proceed to being a process and R&grin person, formulations and Co. And the Engineering part will cover up for BSc Chemistry weaknesses

I have made up my mind to gather the money for those exams by God's grace.

So friends, as u can see I need a thorough foundational knowledge on MSc in the US. I've got to further. And I'm 25 will be +1 this June. Time is running.
The best give u can impart to me now is Knowledge... It will *MAKE* me

THANK YOU FRIENDS....
WILL BE ANTICIPATING YOUR HELP...
GOD BLESS YOU!!!

I have taken GRE test.
I had 297
I plan on taking another but will be as soon as I get the test fee (Sept-Oct-Nov)
I am settling fully for msc/phd Med Chem (I give up on Chem Engr since I can't get full funding anyways, because engineering funding is not for this kind of GRE package)

Please, advice me if I can still move on with application based on this result, which school would most likely grant full funding and what are my chances?

I'll appreciate your advice.
Thanks...

Greetings, my esteemed colleagues.

I received a ph.d offer with a teaching assistantship and fellowship which renumeration includes: a full tuition waiver; medical insurance as well as a mouth watering annual stipend.

I am trying to prepare ahead for the visa interview: do I need to prepare a financial statement to augument the full funding or not?

Many thanks.

Wow. Congrats... Can you please share your profile boss.

Good evening to you all.
please , my sister sent me her proposed interview that I should help guide her through.
I sincerely told her I have a backup of geniuses on this issue, I don't want to give one way advice/correction...

Please, help Me scrutinize this sirs/mas

God bless you!!! kiss

How did you know about this skul?

I did an extensive research on schools that offered my course of study at the undergraduate level, had a cost of tuition inline with my family budget using association and educational website's like allnurses.com,American nurses association and usnews.com

Why USA?

The quality of tertiary education in the USA is top notch and I need the best possible education for my undergraduate degree and after study plan..

What will you do with this degree?

Looking at the system of health in Nigeria this degree will eqip me adequately in creating a new view and improving the quality of health by innovating the skills and knowledge achieved into the Nigeria health sector, infact the Nigeria government and the Nigeria education institution are my main focus, where I will target and shoot into when I come back to Nigeria because partnering with this two sectors will together create a stronger and healthier Nigeria.

Who is sponsoring you?

My dad.

What does he do?

he is a building contractor and he also sales building material and equipment.

Why are you going to USA?

For my bachelor's degree in nursing at xyz university.

Why nursing?

I voluntary work for some health organization in Nigeria,I was able to witness at first hand the problems of lack knowledge on how to care, protect and improve children health in rural communities, I want to have in depth knowledge on how to focus on the care of children, families and communities so they may attain, maintain or recover optimal health and quality of life.

What your plan after study?

I intend to continue with maters if my family can afford it or come back to Nigeria and use the knowledge I have gained during the course of studies to contribute to the health Sector.

Please house,
I completed my imputation and submitted on step 3 of WES unofficial transcript evaluation around 3am or there about today.
This is 7am and I haven't seen any email of the result.

Does it take much time, when should I be expecting it? Couple of days, weeks, hours?

Should I go do another one?

Thanks for helping out guys in anticipation

Tried it again, 3.68/4.0

Please, help suggest schools who can offer phd GA for chem related courses. So I can check out their requirements
Thanks

Please, I need your help.
Please, Don't mind how undecided my question sounds. I'm a novice in this matter.

If I am planning towards Spring 2020 resumption in the US for a PhD GA programme, when exactly is best for me to register for GRE and secondly, when is it okay to write GRE... Please ,be informed that I'm only starting the GRE prep this month.

And also , when is the best month to register for TOEFL and write it.

And a lady friend told me , I will later need to evaluate my cgpa and it usually takes long according to her.

So, putting all these together, help me with time /month evaluation so that I can fix my target on your evaluation.

Thanks wonderful people...
