well, as earlier said, it's obvious who the trouble makers in the the health sector are. International best practices were strictly adhered to by the committee & JOHESU still protests. The B.Sc nurses are no longer with them as they were also pushing for unified scheme of service for all nurses ie entry level, privilege s etc should be the same for B.Sc nurses, OND, HND nurses, midwives, even auxiliary nurses so that University degrees will not matter. They just want to erode professionalism. & enthrone mediocrity. Which system survives or grow like that? meanwhile, they''ve been on strike for 2 months. I don tire jare.

Politics / Re: The Cash, The Jet And Ayo Oritsejafor By Femi Fani Kayode by Akadile: 7:13am On Sep 20, 2014
It's obvious we''ve all lost our ways. FFK is obviously a gaffer in the president's pockets. How can he be defending such reckless act & calling it normal? The money was moved physically in order to avoid a trace. Why was there breakdown of communication with S.A. authorities? So many inconsistencies & coincidence s that cant be ignored. He should have just shut up his mouth. So many issues at stake here. Who will speak out? Definitely not ffk.
the president is busy giving National honours to 305 people including his cook without remembering any of the fallen heroes of this deadly disease. He didn't even send a condolence message to the family of late Dr. Adedevoh during her funeral. If we do not speak out, who will? The churches that are supposed to be the voice of conscience of the nation are in his pockets(remember Rev. Oritsejafor's escapades lately who is the CAN president). Pleases let's put sentiments aside & face facts. Our present leaders are insensitive. My only regret is that Dr. Ada Igonoh & her courageous colleagues who walked through the valley & shadow of Ebola will soon be forgotten & business is already back as usual. Time for sober reflection on the way forward for this nation

Health / Re: NMA Vs JOHESU Vs FG Vs Patients........ Why the hatred for doctors??? by Akadile: 9:43am On Jul 11, 2014
I must commend you op. At least, you expected the level of bashing & bad mouthing attracted by your post. You are not wrong by saying that most people hate Drs. What baffles me the most is the level of reasoning of our so called learned people. If a Dr makes mistakes, there are ways to correct that by reporting him to relevant regulatory bodies & if not satisfied, sue him. It's not because of that that you will say every Dr 's salary should be cut or that every Dr should be fired. R'ber there are still innocent & hard working ones out there. When Dr Conrad Murray involuntarily killed Michael Jackson in U.S, was every Dr sent to jail or relieved of their job in the U.S? Please, stop generalizing & stay focused. If the writers of the oath that Drs take knew that a time will come when Drs will be owed or their privileges being awarded to non competent persons, then there would have been an escape clause or provisor.
I pity the public for not realising that instead of putting pressure on the govt to do needful, you guys are blaming DRS. These politicians always fly abroad for treatment but you the common Nigerian don't have that means. At least every Dr know where to get competent Treatment in this country If its beyond him, but I doubt whether every Nigerian do including the haters. The situation will worsen when every Tom, Dick & Harry in the health sector becomes a CONSULTANT. Dr s are fighting this misnomer & ignorant people are bad mouthing. Please open your eyes.

I rest my case.

Health / Re: PUNCH Editorial: Nigerian Doctors Have Abused Strike Weapon by Akadile: 8:01am On Jul 07, 2014
It's obvious the writer is biased. STRIKE IS THE ONLY LANGUAGE THE NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT UNDERSTANDS. At least, the writer accepts that Government is notorious for not honoring agreements. So, how will one get them to listen? People always quote the Hippocratic oath against Doctors but I tell you that if when that oath was written, that Drs knew that their wages will be owed, that the privileges accorded to only Dr then will later be accorded to other non -Drsby a visionless govt like ours, then there must have been a provisor or an escape clause. ASUU was on strike for 6 months in order to get the govt to listen & no one is talking about it. Drs go on strike after ultimatums, warning strike etc & people are blaming Drs. Maybe the writer should tell us how to get the govt to listen; maybe by witchcraft. I pity the public bc they don't understand the gravity of the situation, bc if they do, they should rise up against the govt. This act of govt is making merit pave way for mediocrity & remember that they don't seek healthcare inside Nigeria. So if the health sector is filled with titled mediocres, I wonder who suffers. Most commenters on this strike Though not all HATE Drs & that is why you will see many insensitive comments against Drs. Remember Drs have families, have responsibilities like every other Nigerian living in this harsh environment.

I rest my case

Health / Re: NMA And NARD Declare An Indefinite Strike From July 1st At 00.00hrs by Akadile: 9:26pm On Jun 30, 2014
It's obvious that most people commenting on this issue are, with due respect, ignorant of the issues leading to the strike. Don't know what each & everyone of your studied or do for a living, but i do not think that you will be happy if you are compared to a less qualified person in all ramifications. It's only in Nigeria that merit paves way for mediocrity & supposed learned people are in support. I weep for Nigeria & for you guys bc you are yet to realise the enormity of this situation.

For clarification purposes, the title " consultant" is earned & not ordained or corronated. Every specialty has it's own cadre & ranks. In Medicine, a consultant is someone that has passed many reproducible exams, from being a Registrar to a Senior Registrar then a Consultant after > 6years of intensive postgraduate training. Why must JOHESU copy Drs? They should choose their own ranks so that their is no confusion especially to you people in the public. They secretly treat patients & are called Drs for which they answer knowing that they are not one. They now want to legitimize the confusion for which we say no!

On the issue of hospital headship, a para-legal cannot be a judge even after working in the court for many years. Likewise an NSCDC member cannot be chief of defense staff without joining the military even though they all are involved in security. Likewise the title of general is exclusive for the military. Other security agencies have their own ranks. Why will it be different in the health sector.
We all agree it's teamwork but there must be a versatile leader. Remember that the JOHESU members are support staff primarily tasked with dispensing drugs & analysis of body fluids so how can they now lord over Doctors?
I think that every right thinking society renumerates individuals based on knowledge, skill, job description training etc. Why does JOHESU wants it to be eroded? I believe everyone reading this article will want his/her loved one to study medicine instead of lab science, nursing if giving the opportunity which clearly shows that there's a difference.

A word is enough for the wise. Please think well b4 you comment & please stop hating Drs.

Autos / Re: New Tires : Death Trap?. by Akadile: 11:44am On Oct 10, 2011
@ Poster, thanks for the information. Had the same experience with 2 brand new GT Radial tyres I got 6 months ago. One got torn like a newspaper without any bumps or potholes. Will check out the Inflation pressure though. Experienced Vulcanisers usually prefer MAXXIS tyres. Using them right now though more expensive. We learn everyday. Sorry for the damages.

what happened to SNG? I think the Pastor is becoming desperate. Hope he doesn't disgrace himself & other real men of God further.
Health / Re: Medical Council Outlaws Strike For Doctors by Akadile: 1:52pm On Jul 06, 2011
The issue here is that most posters do not understand the plight of Nigerian Doctors. About pay, just compare what fellow African countries like Ghana, South Africa, Namibia , Botswana pay their Doctors, You will weep for the average Naija Doctor. I don't want to talk about developed countries. This is the same reason why Younger Doctors will continue to leave Nigeria (brain drain) for greener pastures even in Namibia(you can imagine) if the issues are not addressed immediately; better facilities e.g CT scans MRI, PET scans, increased funding for better research, all inclusive.

Think of the Nigerian Medical system in the next 40 years if this continues. You should be thinking of emigrating too because Healthcare is an essential commodity whether you like it or not as the service will always be needed. Thank You
