What does the scholarship cover?

The scholarship covers necessary costs related to stay and study in the CR. The scholarship amount is regularly amended. Currently the amount paid to students of a Bachelor’s, Master’s or follow-up Master’s study programme stands at CZK 14,000 per month, whereas the amount paid to students of a Doctoral study programme stands at CZK 15,000 per month.
The above scholarship amount includes an amount designated for the payment of accommodation costs.
Travel expenses for travelling to the Czech Republic and back to the student’s homeland are paid by the party that has nominated the student to study in the CR
Which countries are targeted?

The scholarships are dedicated solely to promoting the studies of adults who are foreign nationals from developing third countries in need.
Am I Eligible to Apply?

1) in Bachelor/Master/Doctoral study programs plus one-year preparatory course of the Czech language (which is combined with other field-specific training). Government scholarships of this category are awarded to graduates from upper secondary schools, or Bachelor’s/Master’s degree courses, as applicable, who can enroll only in study programs in which instruction is given in the Czech language. Depending on the subject area, applicants are normally required to sit entrance examinations at the higher education institution concerned. Successful passing of entrance examinations constitutes a precondition for the scholarship award;
or

2) in follow-up Master study programs or Doctoral study programs. Government scholarships of this category are awarded to graduates of Bachelor or Master study programs, respectively, who enroll in study programs with instruction in the English language.

This article is part of a series of posts that I am writing to help International Students like yourself understand the process to finding and applying for scholarships. If you have not read the three previous post I would encourage you to return to the home page and start your reading there. Each post contains valuable information that will help you in your search for an international scholarships.

Step # 3 focused on obtained a free scholarship from Norway – these are mostly available to graduate students. This post will focus on opportunities available for undergraduate students.

Before will look at this specific opportunity I need to review what NEED BLIND ADMISSIONS are:

Need-Blind Admissions:

is a relatively new admissions policy but what it means is that a college or university will admit students regardless of their ability to pay. For any students that cannot afford the fees – the university awards scholarships and other institutional aid to make up the difference.
There are now nine US schools that offer need-blind admissions to international students.
Basically, if you can get in, you can afford to go.

recipients shall be known as Advancing Africa Scholars;

This program is geared towards undergraduate (first year) applicants with demonstrated financial need who are citizens of sub-Saharan African nations; graduate candidates are not eligible.
Upon submitting your application for admission to the University, simply designate in your communication with the Admissions Office that you wish to be considered for the Advancing Africa program
Apply for financial aid assistance in accordance with all requirements outlined at Brown Financial Aid – no special application is required beyond our regular protocol for financial aid
If you are accepted by the Office of Admissions then you will be advised if you have also been selected for the Advancing Africa program. Details on any financial assistance would also be outlined (provided you met all the financial aid deadlines/requirements).

6. I know this can seem overwhelming but if you are qualified and prepared to do the work it takes to away then this is a great opportunity. It is one of the best.

7. Your next step – Go to the Common Application site, select “Brown University” for your “My Colleges” list, and then follow the instructions for completing and submitting forms. Common Application is a website designed to simplify the process of applying to more than one college

8. If you have any questions or need clarification regarding the admission process at Brown University you contact them directly at admission_undergraduate@brown.edu. Please don’t bother them with basic questions – they get many emails and much of the information you need can be found on the website. Please remember this is an impersonal process. You need to read and follow the instructions – that is the best and only method for admission and obtaining an international scholarships.

Rotary Clubs in Japan through the Rotary Yoneyama Memorial Foundation offer scholarships to overseas students to undertake undergraduate, masters and doctoral studies at Japanese university or graduate school.

The Rotary Yoneyama Scholarship for Applicants Residing Abroad (or "Overseas Application Scholarship" for short) is carried out as a special program to support overseas students or international students scheduled to enroll in a Japanese University or Graduate School.

Applicants have to find out and apply a Japanese university or graduate school by themselves before they apply for this scholarship. And they are requested to submit the copy of the application for admission for the university / graduated school.

The program’s eligibility requirements are as follows:

Be in the process of applying for admission
Be able to submit his/her letter of acceptance (an admission approval or a pre-arrival admission approval) under the schedule below.

Norway Quota Scheme for Students from Developing Countries

Scholarship Overview

The Norwegian government provides scholarships for students from developing countries and countries in Eastern Europe and Central Asia through the Quota Scheme.
Most of the programs offered are at Master’s or PhD level, but the Quota Scheme also offers certain Bachelor’s study programs.

What does the scholarship cover?

Each student receives the same amount of money as a Norwegian student would do in an equivalent educational programme. 40 per cent of the amount is given as a grant and 60 per cent as a loan. However, the loan portion may be waived when the student returns to his/her home country after completing the course of study. Students who stay in Norway after finishing their studies or take up residence in another country than their home country must repay the loan.
Travelling expenses for entry into Norway may be reimbursed (fixed price).
Students can apply for one annual home visit if the educational programme lasts longer than one year and for financial support for travelling expenses for field work during the course of study.
When the student returns home within 3 months after finishing his/her studies, the cost of travelling home is covered by the Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund.

The Quota Scheme will only enroll students from institutions (organizations, universities, authorities) which have collaboration agreements with Norwegian universities or university colleges. The Commonwealth Medical Fellowships (Enhancing Clinical Skills) are offered for mid-career medical and dental staff from developing Commonwealth countries.

The only factors taken into consideration are academic ability and research potential, examination results, and references. The financial situation of applicants does not affect the selection of scholars.

Notification: In March, all the nominated candidates with a conditional offer of admission will be considered by a selection committee comprising academic members of the Student Registry. The committee will draw up a list of candidates who will be made an offer of a CISS award immediately. A reserve list of candidates will also be drawn up who may receive a CISS award should any become available. These candidates will receive a confirmatory email. Several hundred partially funded awards will also be made by the Cambridge Trusts to candidates unsuccessful in obtaining a full cost CISS award.

How to Apply: In order to be eligible for a CISS award commencing in the next academical year, you must have applied for admission/continuation as a graduate student to the University of Cambridge either online (admission students only) or via the Graduate Admission and Scholarship Application Form (GRADSAF). It is important that you send in your supporting documentation as soon as possible after you have applied for admission online, because your application will not be looked at until this is received. Scholarship Description: Clarendon FundThe Clarendon Fund offers around 140 full scholarships every year to academically excellent graduate students from all around the world. The scholarships cover tuition and college fees as well as a generous grant for living expenses, and all graduate applicants who apply for study at the University by the January deadline, in their respective year of entry, will be automatically considered for this prestigious scholarship funding.

Number of award(s): The Clarendon Fund offers over 140 full scholarships every year to academically excellent graduate students from all around the world.

Duration of award(s): Clarendon Scholarships are offered for the full period that you are liable to pay tuition fees to the University, which is usually the same as the length of your course. The fee liability page of the Fees and Funding website explains this in full detail, and also gives information about charges that may be applied after the standard period of fee liability has been reached and which are not covered by the Clarendon Fund.

What does it cover? All Clarendon Scholarships cover tuition and college fees in full. Scholars on a full-time course receive a generous annual grant for living costs, which is normally sufficient to cover the living costs of a single student living in Oxford. In 2015-16 this is £14,057 (GBP). Scholars on a part-time course receive a study support grant to help cover their non-fee costs.

Selection Criteria: Clarendon Scholarships are awarded on the basis of outstanding academic merit and potential to graduate students from all around the world. Selection criteria vary slightly depending on the subject area and whether applicants apply for a taught or research degree. Generally, applications are assessed against the following criteria:
-An excellent academic record is essential: A high first class honours degree or its equivalent (a GPA score of at least 3.7 if the mark is out of 4,noting that most successful candidates achieve a score higher than 3.7) or an outstanding academic record at Master’s level is necessary (noting that an outstanding Master’s degree can compensate for a moderate first degree performance). Other indicators of high academic achievement may include individual marks on student transcripts; evidence of previous university prizes or awards; information on your overall position within your cohort; and publications (if applicable).
-Aptitude for the proposed course of study: This may be assessed by reviewing academic references, the research proposal, demonstrated evidence of aptitude for research, and the likelihood the scholar will contribute significantly to their field of study.
-Student motivation: This is assessed through evidence of the applicant’s commitment to their proposed course, evaluated by the personal statement and referees’ reports.
