Hey everybody! I have a south africa visa which will expire on the 17th of January! I was busy with business so I couldn't go before now, and I wanted to travel now for Christmas and new year vaca... will I have any problem at the port of entry since its less than 1 month b4 the visa expires
No, just make sure u have a return ticket and u have your invitation letter with you or ur hotel booking, if u use hotel booking make sure I repeat make sure you have paid a deposit to the hotel, cos at the POE they might call the hotel if u haven't paid na yawa o

I have been reading recent comments and I love the responses I see.

Pls can somebody assist in guiding me. I received an admission to study at UCT masters level. This came in September but i had also applied to two other courses in different places and was waiting because I preferred them to the one I was given.

Just yesterday the two of them replied me that my application was not successful. So I have no option than to take the one given to me earlier.

I will be sending the declaration letter to them today but i have a few concerns.
1. Would the school think it is late that I am replying them almost three months later and withdraw their admission?
2. Can I still get a study visa before end of January? Resumption is in 6th February.
3. My dad knows someone who does Visitor's permitbfor his company. Does this count in getting my study permit faster?
4. How do I get medical insurance cover? I don't know anything about it.
5. I didnt need SAQA in getting the admission. Will it be necessary in securing the VISA?
6. The police clearance. Is it compulsory? How do I go about it?
7. How much would I need for the processing and flight? Which flight is most affordable and when is the best time to leave?

Thanks

The vhs office in Abuja where I live is closed for this year. It will be next year before I can submit my application
Its not late to reply UCT
1. You need to tell UCT via a mail that they should send you a letter stating that you don't require SAQA to study in UCT, once u get that you can tender that at the embassy
2. Medical Aid: you need it try momentum.co.za they do medical insurance, look for their contact and email them, but I think they are closed for the year but will be back by the 5th of Jan
3. Talk to a police officer about your police clearance or if u are in Lagos go to Alagbon.
4. For study visa, you go to SA Embassy, not VFS to apply for your Visa

How can we say we are Christians when some people steal over a trillion in fuel subsidy and we look away? A Minister spends N10bn on private jets and it feels normal. Almost $10bn was spent on kerosene subsidy that anybody hardly buys at N50 and the messenger was hunted out of office?

Can we be right in Christ, when a President refuses to sack a Minister who supervises an immigration exam that killed over 13 Nigerians?

I am not interested in the type of religion folks fill in blank spaces in forms. If Christianity means not bearing Ahmed or Ibrahim or just attending Church, clapping in front rows, that's okay for you. I am not the populist Nigerian version of Christianity. I drive around in Abuja, empty houses all the way, all around Aso Drive. People laundering national treasury to real estate. Tell me what feeds Abuja if not government money.

I am interested the one you live in Christ like manner, standing on the side of truth. If all Christians decide to be truly upright, won't we break the chain of corruption? Hypocrisy is the bane of our time. Same for Muslims also. Stand up. Lets reset values. We should not pardon thieves nor glorify waste. We need some fear factor in the management of national treasury. Stand up. Lets reset values. - Seun Onigbinde

The Canary Network.....

If you support corruption, you diminish the work of Christ on the cross. Think about this.

You're such an eediot to even think that an Igbo man is behind bokoharam. You can't get more stu.pid honestly.smh.
Well I didn't say it, its not about an ibo man, its about an allegation lebelled on a Nigerian. I have no proof to believe the allegation neither do I have proof to doubt it. No matter the tribe, when it comes to stealing our commonwealth we unite, that is why a northerner, the GM of FAAN can defend an ibo woman who was minister of aviation on corruption. We are too sentimental please

Yes we have options, if we get the VP slot from the APC(very unlikely if you ask me) but we support Jonathan because we believe in fairness & equity.
Because of fairness and equity at the expense of bombings, $20B disappearing, stealing of money in the name of subsidy, ASUU strike. Some people say an igbo man was appointed COAS, it is a wonderful gesture by GEJ, the same man that has been accused of sponsoring boko haram. GEJ has no moral right to seek for a second term he has failed so badly. Over 2.3 trillion naira (an amount bigger than the deposits of First Bank) was stolen in 2011 via subsidy no one has gone to jail. New York times has rated his govt the worst in terms of corruption since independence and people still want to vote him because of equality? Wow! We have to be ferrying money like jankara market to buy arms. Up till now, we still have $15m stuck in SA, but they lie to us it has been refunded. I met a white business man in SA who is ready to do business in Nigeria and I will quote him, he said "Jonathan's sister is the most corrupt womam in the world" he was referring to Dieziani, Minister of Petroleum. Ths is a woman that GEJ keeps has his top staff. Jonathan has perfected the act of using our ethnicity to divide us to vote for him, no one has claimed they have the sole right to power, no tribe has claimed this its falsehood propagated by by this government to paint likes of Buhari and APC bad. Am yoruba and a devout christian, I will vote a muslim Northerner any day before Jonathan. No be pastor oritshejafor dey use jey meant for envangelism to ferry dollars? Let's remove sentiments please

Hello House. Pls I will appreciate if u can help with few informations that is bothering me here.I just picked up my visa at the Vfs Global offfice in abuja. But the thing is,This is my first time of travelling out and there are still some things I need to know .
1.what document do I need to travel with. because I was told we will still be screened at the port of entry by the immigration officer there.
2.should I book hotel online before going even though I plan to rent an apartment when I get there
3.what is the ideal BTA to travel with.
4.plus there is a condition on my visa that says " EACH VISIT NOT TO EXCEED 30 DAYS"
5.if 4 is a limitation on the duration of my stay, how can I extend it. Thanks.
Once you come into SA now with a visitors visa, you remain a visitor, you can't change it to study nor work visa. If you book a hotel, make sure u pay the minimum deposit the hotel has asked you to pay cos the immigration might call the hotel, your return ticket too must tally with the hotel check out date, you can extend ur visa but only as a visitor too, for a maximum of one time and 3 months (90 days) after this no more extension and you must have a congent reason to stay or extend.

thanks. But do you mean that it is better for the SA invitee to ensure that all those mentioned documents required by he/she must be certified by the SA police before he/she is sending the required documents to the person to be invited via email.

secondly, if the invitee chooses to send his/her documents to the person he/she is inviting via courier services like , Dhl or FedEx, does he/she still need to get those documents certified by SA police. and please kindly tell me the advantages and disadvantages of getting the documents certified by the police over there in SA.
Yes it should be certified, the better for the applicant

Good day to all, please is it true that , In order to be invited by someone who is a citizen/ permanent resident in SA, can the invitee send his/her copy of national ID, bank account statement and the invitation letter to the person he/she wants to invite for visit via email or via courier service? thanks in anticipation of your kind responses.
Email is fine but the person should go to a police station and certify it before scanning

@waleabimbola thanks for the full details. GOD BLESS.

But for the Judge who says someone goes around spoiling the name of the country out there. It's a pity that everyone on here are anonymous even without data and details if not I will have to evaluate your age with your level of maturity if they will ever balance. And who says I am a first time traveller? 2011 I flew to Malaysia after purchasing my ticket at the cost of 350k. The same amount a freckle face like you will have as 7months take home if you ever worked. Here or in SA. And guess what? I spent just 7 days and returned to nija.I was only posting my initial posts base on my present situation and condition of my int.passport... Sometimes you correct with common sense and love if you must correct anyone. But if you actually wanna change the world or the mindset of Nigerian I will advise you to get on a national TVs and start abusing the so called leaders that has looted our money, cuz whatever crime anyone is committing base on finding a greener pasture its as a result of the pain that these people that suppose to be serving us has inflicted on us. and when you do make sure you leave your personal contact and address. As a New messiah. Get common sense and whenext you are posting on here Endeavour to do that with Respect and I don't even know who asked for your contribution in the first place.
Oga keep quiet and stop looking for some excuse for your intended behaviour, no one has said you should sit in naija, but there are ways to get out of naija without bridging the law, because my govt is bad does not mean anyone should be illegal in any country, it spoils the chances of other people, spoils ur chances of other travelling opportunites you might have. Because am not a saint too does not mean my points are not valid, btw, u will ONLY be stamped till DEC 15 at OR Tambo

Waleabimbola:
My Brother, my advice for you is to come before 15th Dec.. You may be lucky and you will be given 30 days at point of entery here in SA and you may also be unlucky to be given till 15th Dec... Those are the 2 possibilities.
Well The place where your passport is issued has nothing to do with the success of your future application in any other embassy. Infact in your own case it MAY work against you(Am sorry but that is the bitter truth you may not want to hear now) because , your future embassy will see that you are not a resident of SA and you overstayed in SA according to the following reason..
1...you got your passport after 30 days in SA(if you are even lucky to be given 30 days at point of entry)
2...The SA embassy will stamp your NEW passport as Overstayed in SA when you are eventually going back home
3.. it will be written on your NEW passport that you have been banned

My advice for you is, come to SA and spend the time you are given at point of entry and leave SA immediately... I am sure Canada, USA or Australia will never give someone who has over-stayed in ORDINARY SA( as you called it earlier in your post) their Precious visa.

dont be deceived by anyone that , the place where your passport is issued affects outcome of your future visa application.Hence it may only affect you negatively in your own case.
Conclusively, Never say you will never be in SA for the next 10 years my brother because you dont know what the future holds for you.For instance, if you get a good job in Nigeria and the company/organisation want to send you to SA for a training or conference but you have been banned by SA in 2014.. what will you tell your company?
I read a story on here last year of a man who works with SHELL INTERNATIONAL(yes shell oil company) now and they wanted to send him to UK For training meanwhile he has been banned by UK Several years back for using different names on his passport while he was still hustling.what will he Tell the company my brother?do you think any Reputable company will wanna employ someone who has questionable character at embassies when millions are out there waiting?
CONSIDER YOUR FUTURE NOT YOUR PRESENT CONDITION MY BROTHER(am sorry admin for using capital letters)

I wish you all the best my brother
It is this kind of people that gives Nigeria bad names outside our shores, I mean you haven't even travelled you are planning to be illegal in a country, WOW! Why can't you go by the books, not that its easy but your behaviour will affect a million of other applicants.

Yeee are you saying that the info I initially got on here were not true about getting an added 30days of stay while arriving at SA?

And I am aware about the stamp that will be on my new passport for over stayed in SA but I will be less bothered by that as my next destination may not be SA for another 10 yrs.
Yes it will be stamped for till 15th believe me I have seen a lot like that, then if you have a stamp saying you are barred on your passport don't you feel it will attract questions at other embassies and immigration posts?
TravelRe: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by akeem0502: 6:46pm On Dec 07, 2014
Manager007:
Yes, you can definitely renew your Nigerian passport at the Nigerian Consulate in Jhb without hassle. It's your civic right and nobody can deny you that right. My advise is for you to apply for online when you get to RSA so you can obtain appointment date in time.

so, relax bro.
Note that if u are leaving JHB back to Nigeria with a new passport but an expired visa, your new passport will be stamped that you overstayed your visa and you will be barred from entering SA for a period of 1 to 10 years, is this not a stain on ur new passport?

yes your friend is right. .you will be stamped and permitted to stay for 30days
Never! He will only be stamped till 15th of dec that's all, your return ticket must also show that you are leaving on or before 15th of dec

Hello peeps,I wanna ask, after the issuing of visiting visa to someone which I learnt is 3months valid visa,so I want to ask,is it possible to go 2weeks before d visa expire without having problems with any immigration what what at d airport, and someone told me,there re no more permits in SA,like study permit, work permits and stuffs like dat,bt is there still something like PR(permanent residence permit in SA),pls anyone dat knws more about dis thing to answer me,tanx
You can no longer change the status of ur Visitors Visa in SA, that is if u come with visitor's visa u will leave with visitors visa. There is a permit called permanent residence it allows u to work and live in SA permanently with some conditions attached. Going to SA 2 weeks b4 ur visa expires is no big deal as long as u can prove u will come back to naija under 2 weeks.
