vedaxcool:In the u.s. The child has to be legal age of consent which is usually 16 or sometimes 15 but without legal permission they have to be 18 or you could end up with stagetory rape charges and labeled a sexual offender. Actually, scholars have spoken about this and they say that "whoever does this in the U.S. and uses the the age of 'A'ishah as a proof of permissibility is an Extremely Ignorant Person" the reason is because this not from the culture of the U.S. so it's completely haram because it more harm than anything else in it |
Ishilove:Thanks, I've seen many Yoruba that are like twins to my family. Yes, i will look for a culture center and research as much as possible. Im currently looking for a friend to build close bond with who wouldn't mind teaching me the customs of our people. Thanks again |
bigfrancis21:Thank you my dear brother, so you don't see a problem with an AA(Negro in America) adopting a specific culture of west Africa as thier own, whether it be wholly or merely adopting certain aspects such as morals, language, or even tying themselves to that particular ethnic group to build upon the AA's culture? |
bigfrancis21:It was the general one. The haploroup test brought African for my paternal and American Indian for my maternal but the autosomal is 86% African with actually 76%(74% was my mistake) SW Nigeria |
anothergirl:After researching the data and looking at what peoples went in the areas That my different branches of family are from it is conclusive that i and 76% Yoruba. So yes I would say it's clear that you are at least part nigerian |
Martin124:Yea there's a cutoff. |
Martin124:No,middle name |
Martin124:Why do you ask that and then say hmmm? What's going on here? Lol |
Martin124:No doubt brother. Yes i go by Akeem |
Martin124:I've done that all the way back to 1830. The information was amazing but it still leaves a major void which is only filled by connecting oneself back to your people who we were forcibly disconnected from. |
Martin124:How would you do that? Im seriously inquiring |
anothergirl:Most definitely, yea it seems western semetic is European which is obsurd but whatever. Yea you are majority from the Southwestern Nigeria area. Here's mine: Population Nilo_Saharan 1.33 Ubangian_Congo 1.39 W_Benue_Congo 52.60 Eastern_HG 1.27 E_Benue_Congo 24.22 Omotic 2.09 Southern_HG 4.41 Western_Semitic |
blackberlin:EXACTLY!!!! You got it bro |
Martin124:It's not that simple. You know that. |
anothergirl:o ok. Im sorry I misunderstood. Go to 1.admixture(heritage) 2. Select punt DNA (leave the bullet selection where it is 3. Select punt DNA (Africa Only) This way it gives way more info. If you don't figure it out this way pm me we'll figure it out |
Is it possible for an African American to appropriate west African culture? I would like everyone's opinion on this because i have a view but i dont want to influence anyone so i will hold it for now. But i will say that i don't think that it is as simple as it may seem. |
blackberlin:Trump! lol he's actually not bad compared to the previous. He's dumb but hey it's the way of the American politician ![]() |
blackberlin:Nah, it's cool brother. Hey man i may not be willing to leave my religion but i would still learn about the spirituality of my ancestors that i so proudly inherited. I wasn't born a Muslim so in my household we had certain beliefs that i know were different than let's say "white folk" so I would like to definitely understand where it came from. You know? |
anothergirl:O ok. Yea i would roll with results sis |
Try uploading the raw data to dna.land or gedmatch.com. I did both and they give decent info. I wouldnt take ever bit of info from it but if the percentage is high then the likelihood of truth is strong. But dont trust the african ancestry one its a Gimmick.( i know that sounds bad but it's true |
OlaoChi:Yes I am a Muslim. But what exactly do you mean by African spirit? |
lepasharon:I have been doing a lot of talking but honestly it seems like when I ask a cultural question Nigerians tend to get tense. Makes one say hmm lol |
GMbuharii:I will |
blackberlin:I am a practicing Muslim, but extremist lol? I was actually very tired in that pic worked 12hr shifts all week and was drug to my mother in-law's. |
Peace distant family, im writing here because i am stuck. I am an "Afrikan American"(Descended from those taken from Africa. My mother's family is from South Carolina and Virginia while my father's migrated from Haiti in the 1800's. I did a dna test with hopes in finding my origins and i found it but what in the world do i do now? My test shows 86% Afrikan 74% Southwest Nigeria matching the Yoruba people and 12% Senegal Mandinka. I really would like to learn more and connect with my people but how do i begin? Also do i look like a Yoruba man to you? Curious, let me know. Thanks |
