Career7 Easy-to-learn Skills You Can Use To Work From Home by akeentech(op): 9:32pm On Oct 29, 2020
You want to learn to work from home. And for a good reason. As soon as you stop your daily commute, you save a ton of money, time and gain that much-needed happiness factor that comes with working remotely.
But how do you go from wanting to work from home to working remotely? The excellent news is remote working is on the rise and showing no signs of slowing down. This means that there will always be new opportunities to launch your cubicle at the curb.

It all comes down to having the rights skills to get you from commuter to telecommuting. Fortunately, suppose you’re feeling a little rusty in the marketable skills department. In that case, there are plenty of affordable online courses that will make it quick and easy for you to build up your skills and get you working remotely as soon as possible.

#1. Proofreading

When you step back and think, there’s a lot of content. Let’s look at the Internet. To date, there are over a billion – yes, 1 billion existing sites. And that equates to an impressive number of articles, posts, and pages living online.

Granted, not all things online are proofread. I’m sure when you read various blogs and sites, you find tons of mistakes. I know I’m guilty of them here sometimes.

But that’s what makes proofreading so essential and so convenient for future remote workers. You can offer your furtive eyes the sites that are in desperate need of a proofreader, as well as those that already recognize the value of using a proofreader to ensure that their content is published error-free—the most significant number.

Believe me, it works. You will also be able to go from untrained, error-prone samurai to a highly skilled and sought-after professional proofreader in no time.

#2. Virtual assistance

We are all busy. It’s almost like a badge of honor these days to have an overbooked schedule and to-do list in miles. But just because people are overexploited does not mean that they are productive. I know I am guilty.

As a full-time blogger and one-man show, I often find myself very tense. My inbox is overflowing. Deadlines are frequently in the lead. There are more pieces of content to watch out for that I wouldn’t want to forget. Plus, did I mention I have an online life and a family that sometimes enjoys seeing me in the real world? I do. It is true.

This is why I often admit defeat and commit an extra pair of hands to help me stay on top of the game when I can’t do it independently. And I am not alone. Today, many bloggers, busy professionals, and brands turn to virtual assistants to give them a (virtual) helping hand.

A professional virtual assistant, or VA, is a magical wizard of productivity and time management. A VA can step in and help answer emails, coordinate a schedule, help with project management, and generally help things move forward. As a future aspirant, there is no shortage of skills and services that you can bring to market like me.

#3. Accounting

Fact: The entrepreneur has named accounting as the most profitable you can start a small business. This is because accounting has low overhead and low start-up costs. And you don’t need a fancy degree to become an accountant.

Instead, you need to develop bookkeeping as a skill and market it to small businesses. Sounds easy, right? It is!

#4. Medical Coding & Billing

A recent report from CNBC discovered that there are more billing and coding jobs in the medical industry than there are qualified professionals to fill them. To say this is a work-on-demand-on-demand skill would be an understatement. The healthcare sector is progressing by leaps and bounds. Medical billing and coding are essential parts of the industry that play a vital role in maintaining patient records for payment purposes. You can learn a bit more about what a medical billing and coding professional does by reading my in-depth article here.

If you’ve always dreamed of a healthcare career in the field of remote care, then it might be. But developing this skill takes time and training. You’ll need to go to school and likely get a certificate before you can land a high paying job as a medical billing professional.

#5.Transcription

I always thought transcription was a pretty necessary skill – if you could type, you could transcribe. It turned out I was wrong. Transcription is a much more specialized skill than that. After all, you need to simultaneously listen to the audio and transcribe what is said without making any mistakes. And when several people are speaking, it’s up to you to differentiate the voices.

It can all be very tricky. This is why skilled transcriptionists are in great demand in work from the homeworld. There are even areas that you can specialize in, like general transcription or legal transcription.

Honestly, you can’t go wrong with either! Believe me, I know. My very first job at home was as a legal typist. I have transcribed interviews with insurance companies, often about traffic accidents or other insurance claims under investigation. It was incredibly interesting, very flexible, and well paid too.

#6. Writing

Either you like to write, or you don’t – there doesn’t seem to be any in-between. Me? I love to write. This is why I left the corporate world to become a freelance writer, even though I had no writing experience. This eventually led me to start a blog to focus on delivering the content I wanted 24/7/365 while helping others.

writing pad with laptopIf this seems like a dream to you, you will be happy to learn that writing is a highly demanded job applied around the home and can be quickly learned. As a bonus? You can take your writing as far as you want.

Start a blog? Check.
Become a freelance writing phenomenon? Sure.
Self-publish the next bestseller? Absolutely.

First of all, you need to hone your writing skills so that you can market them as work from home skills. The best way to start is to ask someone who has been in your shoes for advice. And, I highly recommend Elna Cain as someone.

She started a career as a freelance writer while raising twin toddlers (crazy, I know). And now she’s showing you how you too can translate your passion for writing a dream job into a dream job. His journey, “Write Your Way to Your First 1K,” gives you the extra effort to put your writing to work, so you too can do your first big cool – and beyond.

#7. Medical transcription and editing

After seeing a doctor or healthcare professional, they sit down and dictate notes about your visit. These notes are then transcribed by a transcription professional and form part of your permanent medical record.

Thanks to advances in technology, doctors can also use special software to convert their words into a transcript automatically. However, the software is not perfect and needs to be edited by professionals before it becomes a medical record.

This is where medical transcription and editing skills come in handy. CareerStep offers a medical transcription and review course that, you guessed it, teaches you both the skills you are looking for. In less than a year, you’ll learn everything you need to transcribe dictation and edit software-generated transcriptions.

On-demand work skills from home, you can quickly learn online.

There you have it, 7 in-demand skills you can quickly learn to help you work from home. When you use an online course, like the ones listed here, you receive step-by-step instructions that help you reach your work-from-home goals faster. Before you know it, you’ll need to swap your daily commute into a short walk to the home office. You got that!

Webmasters7 Reasons To Invest In Seo by akeentech(op): 9:23pm On Oct 29, 2020
Here are 7 reasons why your business needs to invest in SEO or web positioning to take your brand to the next level. SEO is essential for greater searchability and visibility, but it offers more real value than that.

Many brands and companies know (or think they know) that they need SEO for their web pages or online stores and the benefits that they will get from that SEO work that will be implemented on their behalf.

SEO will undoubtedly improve a website’s searchability and overall visibility, but what other real value does it offer? Why is SEO so important? Why should you invest in SEO?

#1. Organic search is the primary source of website traffic.

Organic search is a massive part of most businesses’ website performance and a critical component of the buyer funnel and ultimately getting users to complete a conversion such as filling out a contact form, sign up for a newsletter, make a purchase, download a brochure, etc.

As marketers know, Google owns a significantly larger share of the search market than other competitors like Yahoo, Bing, Baidu, Yandex, DuckDuckGo, and many others.

This does not mean that all search engines do not contribute to a brand’s visibility, but rather that Google owns about 75% of the overall search market. He is the undisputed leader, and therefore, it is essential to follow his guidelines.

But the remaining 25% of the market for other engines is valuable to brands as well.

Being the most visited website globally, Google also happens to be the most popular email provider in the world (with more than 1 billion users). Not to mention, YouTube is the second largest search engine.

We know that most people with access to the Internet visit Google once a day to get information.

Being highly visible as a trusted resource by Google and other search engines will always work in a brand’s favor. Quality SEO and a high-quality website lead brands to success. Investing in SEO is a crucial factor for your business.

#2. SEO builds trust and credibility

The goal of any seasoned SEO is to lay a solid foundation for a website with a clean and significant user experience that can be easily discovered in searches thanks to the brand’s trust and credibility and its digital properties.

Many elements go into establishing authority concerning search engines like Google. In addition to the factors mentioned, authority accumulates over time as a result of elements such as:

Quality backlinks.
A positive usability of the user within the website.
Optimized elements and content on the page.

Here’s the problem: it is impossible to build trust and credibility overnight, just like in real life. Authority is earned and built over time.

Establishing a brand as an authority requires patience, effort, and commitment. Still, it also depends on offering a valuable and quality product or service that allows customers to trust a brand.

#3. Local SEO means increased engagement, traffic, and conversions.

With the rise and growing dominance of mobile traffic, local search has become a critical part of small and medium-sized businesses’ success.

The goal of a local search is to optimize your digital properties so that people can find you quickly and easily, bringing them one step closer to a transaction.

Local optimizations target specific towns, cities, regions, and even states to establish a viable medium for a brand’s messaging.

The professional SEO does this by optimizing the website of the brand and its contents, including local citations and backlinks and local directories relevant to the location and the business sector to which a mark belongs.

To promote engagement locally, you start by optimizing Google My Business listing and other social media profiles.

A strong emphasis should also be placed on user reviews on Google and other review sites like Yelp, TripAdvisor, among others, depending on the industry.

#4. SEO impacts the buying cycle

Clients do their research. That’s one of the most significant advantages of the Internet from a buyer’s perspective.

Use SEO tactics to convey your messages to convey good offers, innovative products and services, and the importance and reliability of what you offer to customers.

It also undoubtedly positively impacts the buying cycle when done right.

Brands need to be visible where people need them to make a good connection. Local SEO improves visibility and allows potential customers to find the answers.

#5. SEO is relatively cheap. Invest in SEO and gain visibility

Sure, it costs money. Anything good costs money.

But SEO is relatively cheap in the grand scheme of things, and the payoff will likely be considerable in terms of brand benefit and bottom line.

I would not consider it a marketing cost. It is a true business investment; now is the time to invest in SEO. A good SEO implementation will keep your business in the top results of Google for years to come. And, like most things in life, it will only get better with the more attention (and investment) you receive.

#6. Investing in SEO is a long-term strategy.

SEO can (and hopefully will) have a noticeable impact within the first year of the action being taken, and many of those actions will have an impact that will last for more than several years.

Do not think that if you hire an SEO specialist, he/she will position your website or online store in a few months. Power, you can. Now, it depends on the competition, on the difficulty of the keywords, and so on.

I always tell my clients that things should be done little by little so that it seems natural in Google’s eyes. Otherwise, sooner or later, it’s going to penalize us in some way, and it’s the last thing we want.

And the more SEO time, effort, and budget you put into it, the better and longer a website can be a worthy competitor in your niche.

#7. Investment in SEO is quantifiable.

Although SEO doesn’t offer the easiest ROI to calculate like that of paid search, you can measure just about anything with proper tracking and analysis. So don’t be afraid to invest in SEO.

The big problem is trying to connect the dots at the back end, as there is no definitive way to understand the correlation between all the actions taken.

Still, it’s worth understanding how specific actions are supposed to affect performance and growth, and hopefully, they do.

Brands also want to know and understand where they have been, where they are, and where they are going in terms of digital performance, especially for SEO when they have a freelance or agency paid to execute SEO strategies.

Final Words to invest in SEO

Implementing robust and quality SEO on your website or online store will always benefit your brand and your marketing efforts.

It is considered a “new age” marketing technique, but it is critical today for a brand’s presence on the Internet, especially as the available data and competition continue to grow.

BusinessStarting An Online Business? Here Are 10 Pitfalls To Avoid by akeentech(op): 9:15pm On Oct 29, 2020
Starting an online business is not easy, especially when you are in your first business experience. This is mainly because of the unforeseen and the lack of knowledge to deal with them. We know that more than two-thirds of microenterprises and almost half of the small businesses fail before passing the five-year mark. Interestingly, however, in many cases, the mistakes made would be easily preventable.

Here are ten pitfalls to avoid in starting an online business:

#1. Delay in asking for help when starting on online business

Don’t be afraid to ask for help when it’s needed. In this way, you prove to those around you that you are open-minded and want to progress in the right direction. By asking for help, you increase your chances of receiving quality support for your business development and even attracting serious partners or collaborators. Mentoring for entrepreneurs made me understand the importance of consulting experts and surrounding myself with several experienced people to succeed in business.

#2. Act hastily

Do you have the feeling that things are not moving fast enough? This is entirely normal. But that doesn’t mean you need to act in a rush to achieve your goals. To avoid mistakes, you should always make sure you understand what you are doing and why. This is true of all your interventions as a business leader. Avoid, for example, getting involved too quickly or, in a problematic situation, deciding the influence of emotion. Also, take the time to properly assess your ideas before devoting a lot of energy to their development. One of my mistakes was applying for financing when my working capital was not strong enough (even though I was expecting large payments from some clients). I understood this over time.

#3. Lack of flexibility when starting an online business

As you know, it’s easier to retain good customers than to attract new ones. However, to achieve your goals (and significantly exceed them), you need your customers. With their feedback, you can tailor your products and services to their needs and requirements. That doesn’t mean you have to comply with all of their demands. Each situation must be carefully analyzed. But customer feedback does allow you to grow your business with your markets. It is, therefore, in your best interest to be flexible. After all, by listening to your customers, you retain them and encourage them to talk about you favorably in those around them, especially on social media (which I must admit have been very useful to me).

#4. Disperse

When starting an online business, you should expect to meet many people, including some who do not share your values and who might waste your time. You will no doubt be asked to participate voluntarily in realizing specific projects or in the organization of events. If you want to get on with your priorities and achieve your business goals, you have to learn how to say no. I know from experience that it is challenging at first. As an entrepreneur, you will, no doubt, tend to want to seize as many opportunities as possible to develop your business. But in fact, it would not always allow you to move forward in your projects.

#5. Neglecting to document the procedures

To facilitate the integration of new collaborators or employees into your company, you benefit from documenting each particular product or service’s production and delivery procedures. It takes a lot less time when you have to explain how things work to newcomers. I understood this by managing a project that required changes in the legal structure and had trouble understanding the people who accompanied me in my process. I now avoid keeping everything in my head. I have gotten into the habit of noting the new procedures, and I also encourage all my staff to do the same for the documents we share.

#6. Making your project in your corner.

Isolation is a business creator’s worst enemy. You have to surround yourself at all costs (with the right people) to launch your project. This allows you to test it with your loved ones, to have outside views and constructive opinions to help you move forward. You can also get closer to outside help to create your business by setting up in a coworking space or business groups, joining meetings of business leaders, specialized associations, or even the CCI (Customer Composite Index) closer to being surrounded.

#7. Choosing the wrong partner

If you don’t want to go it alone, you can join forces to carry out your project. However, finding the right partner is not an easy task; talk around you about your desire to partner to launch your project without saying too much. It would be best if you chose someone you trust, with a character and skills that complement your own so that you don’t step on your toes. A professional association is like a marriage! For this to work, the two partners must complement each other and be involved in the same way.

Do not hesitate to take some precautions for your association. Indeed, individual pacts allow you to specify a few points to facilitate your collaboration by including sharing powers, the conditions for the transfer of the shares of one of your partners, etc.

#8. When you don’t analyze your market when starting an online business

marketingBefore going straight into administration, have you thought about analyzing your market? If this is not the case, stop launching your project immediately and start from scratch! The incredible thing about starting an online business is when it comes to market research, it allows you to know perfectly, or almost, your future customers, their behavior, your competitors, and the suppliers available for your sector of activity! Understanding the mode of operation and each of these parts’ strategy is essential to differentiate yourself and even to do better than your competitors already established. Your system will flow from what emerges from this study, which will allow you to launch your business under the best auspices.

#9. Neglecting your financial forecasts

The financing plan for your project is essential to the proper functioning of your business. If you skipped this part, now is the time to get started! Indeed, when drafting your business plan, you must integrate the financial aspect, which is, in fact, a kind of economic simulation of your activity. Forecasts of turnover, charges, cash flow, and so on; everything must appear there so that it is as complete as possible! Avoid being too optimistic; banks are not fooled.

Your financing plan will be your best ally to face the banks, and why not interest some investors! It can only be beneficial for your project.

#10. Give up quickly in starting an online business

Starting an online business takes time. Think of all the big businesses you know today; Apple, Nike, General Electric, and so on. Before you start, make sure you are 200% ready to get involved! Entrepreneurship is difficult, and it is essential to persevere to be able to obtain the expected success. So don’t give up; if your project is critical to you, give yourself the means to succeed!

All schools in Kenya will remain closed until next January because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Final year exams, usually taken in October and November, have also been cancelled.

Education Minister George Magoha said students would repeat a year as schools had closed in mid-March, three months after the school calendar had begun.

But colleges and universities are to reopen in September if they abide by strict guidelines.

The East African country has confirmed more than 8,000 cases of coronavirus with at least 164 deaths - and there has been a recent surge in new infections.

On Monday, President Uhuru Kenyatta announced a phased reopening of the country, including the lifting of travel restrictions in the main cities of Nairobi and Mombasa.

However, he did extend a nationwide overnight curfew - from 21:00 to 04:00 local time - for a further 30 days.

Media captionWhat it's like learning under lockdown
Kenya's academic year runs from January to November.

"The 2020 school calendar year will be considered lost due to Covid-19 restrictions," Mr Magoha said.

This would apply to public and private schools, he said.

The government-run Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development has been providing school programmes via the radio, television and online since students stopped going to classes in March.

But while some have been able to cover the syllabus using these resources, there are many others who do not have access to the technology.

Mr Magoha said his ministry would explore how to make online learning accessible to all pupils.
