Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to do that now, considering Edna has yet to play on the international stage. For instance, one would have thought that a player like Rinsola Babajide would have dominated in the SF, but that has yet to be the case. Conversely, having watched Esther Okoronkwo's debut here in Houston, I had no idea she would have become such a powerful force for the SF. McLeans is another one. Had high hopes, but she has been a bust so far. It's difficult to tell, at this stage Deltamani: |
Pretty high up, as she brings her own unique qualities. It's no small feat scoring double digits for an average club like Granada who are not one of the big clubs in Liga F. She is big (almost 6 ft), strong, has got great pace and packs a punch with both legs - very much like Mercy Akide, but a faster version. Confident she will be a great asset to the team. Deltamani: |
Congrats to Edna for getting into double digits for the season with Granada. Unfortunately, the clowns at the NFF will probably wait till she gets an invite from the Spanish team coach (coming soon) and then claim they never heard of her, thus missing out on this great opportunity to bring her into the SF fold. Oh well.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZRJI8xwYt8g |
Delighted for Debbie! I recall having a debate here with someone on this forum a couple of years ago, who had suggested she be drafted into the SF after her exploits with Rivers Angels in the CAF WCL and the FIFA U20 WWC. I had disagreed, citing she wasn't mature yet and such a premature decision could ultimately harm her forward progress and career. I am glad Randy Waldrum was intentional enough to have been patient about her progress. This was indeed the right way you groom a very young and talented player. She is on the right trajectory and the path she has taken would hopefully be a beacon for other younger precocious talents we have. Again, massive thanks to Randy Waldrum. Nigeria will come to thank this man for building the foundation of arguably the greatest Super Falcons team of all time! Wishing Debbie all the very best and Hail to Pitt!! lovewins: |

This may be antithetical to your prevailing argument regarding Reno Omokri, but I don't think, in this case, that his comments were meant to 'antagonize the Igbos' or be 'tribalistic.' Again, from the context of Nigerian football, what I understood from what he said were captured in the following statements he made: '...we learn from this that where and when you were born does not matter as much as how you were raised. If you raise your child to identify with and project your culture, your offspring will grow up with a sense of self worth that makes them impossible to [be] dominated...' '...teach your children about your culture, make them proud of it...'The fact is we have a group of people (even on this forum), who harbor disdain for players wanting to don the green and white, but were born and raised in diaspora. The fact that is these kids ARE Nigerian to the core. The only difference is they were raised in an environment different from the one in Nigeria. That's all. There is always power in diversity and this is the only way Nigeria will be able to leverage and actualize its true strength and potential. Again, just a different perspective of Reno's words... As always, Bankole and his team fail when it matters the most. Keep losing the crucial games. No reason why they should have lost this game to a below average Ghanaian team. He and Danjuma are cut from the same clothe, lacking the tactical intelligence to defeat the more competitive teams. Nothing but local Champions. |
If its a FIFA sanctioned friendly, then it might have an impact. I stand corrected, though. JohnBullMySon: |
Pretty obvious the ref must have been on crack or something. Same with the yellow she gave to Babajide, in the 92nd minute, where the french girl and her went for a jump ball and she decided to give her a yellow, when it was Rinsola who was pushed from behind. TheSuperNerd: |
Katoto had a similar chance in the 1st half and botched it when going one on one with Nnadozie. Onumonu's chip was exquisite and highly intelligent. Never said she Monday did not contribute anything to the goal. But 95% of that goal was all Onumonu. Am I supposed to give her credit for giving a timely pass, when Onumonu was on her bike and screamed for the pass? That's the very least I would expect from her as a professional playing in Spain. Or would you have expected otherwise?? ThePresenceWtf: |
You read my mind. One pass, in God knows how many other games where the 'joint was seriously stank up' by her, is the very least expected from someone who has been hyper-hyped. That goal was all Onumonu, for all intents and purposes. No need for the myopic to try and peddle alternative facts and/or misinformation. lovewins: |
He's not the brightest bulb in the room. lovewins: |
Yet to see any impact of Magudu's girlfriend (Gift Monday) on the field. She's always the first player on his list, yet she ain't done nothing on the pitch. |
I did, thanks to bring her to my attention. Like her command of the midfield and her fight in the midfield. Also seems to have big lungs on her. Would like to see how she maps into the SF team, if able. Deltamani: |
Yes. They got relegated last season from the Liga F, even though she has been getting to play the full 90. I also wouldn't rule out a move for her in the next transfer window. The Spanish div. 2 is still more competitive than some of the other leagues which some of our ladies play for. Its all about testing out if she will make a good fit. daveP: |
She moved from Valencia CF to Sporting De Huelva daveP: |
Again, the abject stupidity of Magudu and the NFF comes to fore... They leave out the likes of Uchenna Kanu, Esther Okoronkwo, Nicole Payne, Chidinma Okeke, Joy Omewa, Elisha Sulola, or even Maureen Umeughochukwu (who is resident in France) and Macleans, not to mention the likes of Favour Emmanuel (Lokomotive) and Edna Imade? Wouldn't it have been cheaper to fly these players, most of whom play in Europe already, into France than buying tix for them to fly from Nigeria? Shouldn't this have been the time to test out these potential players that could augment the Falcons, vs wait until tournament proper to find out if they will be a good fit? I'm pretty sure Magudu will play dumb when you mention Edna Imade's name and pretend he has never heard of her. Of course, he will be quick to invite his favorite chunky-ass keeper Unachukwu, who he invited for the Algeria friendlies. Just dumb decision making and a lack of foresight. Deltamani: |

As anticipated, you are all over the place with your response. What has one thing got to do with the other? You do understand what 'dual citizenship' mean, don't you? And what intelligence does it make to ignore your talent in diaspora, just because you want to 'develop' the one at home? That is completely myopic and is tantamount to 'cutting your nose to spite your face'! BascoVanVeli:Well, why don't you ask her? Clearly, she didn't think long and hard enough to digest that obvious fact BEFORE posting her comments. And it is incredibly dumb of any National FA to disregard all other talents outside of those within their country, just because they want to 'develop home grown' talent. Both are not mutually exclusive and can be done concurrently, just as all other forward thinking countries, even in Africa, have been doing. BascoVanVeli:Dude, again, you are all over the place. I guess I also disparaged the likes of Demehin, or Debbie Ajibola, too, right? Get your facts right! BascoVanVeli: |
I think it was more than the poll itself - there were subtle jabs at the FB players (prompting the retorts from Tonie Payne and Alozie), which is not surprising in itself, considering she has always put her foot in her mouth whenever she is on social media (poor comments about Waldrum after a WAFCON, crass comments about her being left out of the WC, etc.). This is certainly not outside of the scope of what she would say. The issue with here is she is still living in the past and is fiercely refusing to move into the future. She cannot seem to wrap her head around the fact that we live in a world where Nigerians in diaspora are also Nigerians. She has always been very myopic in her thought process. Unfortunately, people like her always become a relic of the past and end up being left behind. BascoVanVeli: |
Clearly, the Nigerian coach's poor footballing knowledge on full display here, as he seems to have lost the plot. Never seen the team this disjointed and clueless as to what to do next. The US center-backs are having a field day shutting down the Nigerian frontline. Nigeria's right flank is the weak link and that is where all the US attack is coming from. |
Rash again! Brilliant Long distance strike |
They really need to yank the girl playing on the left wing, bleached hair, #23. Piss poor footballing from her. |
Rash - 1 nil. Assist by Demehin. |
Poor and disjointed play, so far. The #9 and #23 upfront are not it at all. The numbers on the players jerseys don't necessarily match those displayed in the lineup list published. |
Short and chunky goalies all the time. Can't we find fitter options to groom? This is ridiculous! Deltamani: |
Well, that's what happens when dumb people are put in charge of something this impactful. Like you rightly pointed out, he could have invited the next tier of players (some of whom you named) with the intention of assessing their readiness to be a part of the 'A' Super Falcons. I mean, we recently discussed actively looking for a credible sub for Nnadozie. Wouldn't this have been an opportunity to get some of the young goalies in Europe? Instead, he chose to invite 'C' and below players who have NO hope of making the 'A' or 'B' team. Just plain dumb! Deltamani: |
The recurring frequency of such mistakes, and the fact that they are quite elementary is a significant issue, especially from someone rated as one of the better keepers in the world. You cannot continue to hope that she will 'bounce back', without taking active steps to ensure that the country has backup plans in place. What if she doesn't? Then what? BascoVanVeli: |
