Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to do that now, considering Edna has yet to play on the international stage.
For instance, one would have thought that a player like Rinsola Babajide would have dominated in the SF, but that has yet to be the case.
Conversely, having watched Esther Okoronkwo's debut here in Houston, I had no idea she would have become such a powerful force for the SF.
McLeans is another one. Had high hopes, but she has been a bust so far.
It's difficult to tell, at this stage
Deltamani:
Good point but i would have preferred if you make a top10 ranking of the forwards we have while fixing her in accordance to your Own Stats..
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 4:11am On Jan 13, 2025
Pretty high up, as she brings her own unique qualities.
It's no small feat scoring double digits for an average club like Granada who are not one of the big clubs in Liga F.
She is big (almost 6 ft), strong, has got great pace and packs a punch with both legs - very much like Mercy Akide, but a faster version.
Confident she will be a great asset to the team.
Deltamani:
If I may ask where does she rank in the SuperFalcons current forward list..?
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 9:56pm On Jan 12, 2025
Congrats to Edna for getting into double digits for the season with Granada.
Unfortunately, the clowns at the NFF will probably wait till she gets an invite from the Spanish team coach (coming soon) and then claim they never heard of her, thus missing out on this great opportunity to bring her into the SF fold.
Oh well....

Delighted for Debbie!

I recall having a debate here with someone on this forum a couple of years ago, who had suggested she be drafted into the SF after her exploits with Rivers Angels in the CAF WCL and the FIFA U20 WWC. I had disagreed, citing she wasn't mature yet and such a premature decision could ultimately harm her forward progress and career.

I am glad Randy Waldrum was intentional enough to have been patient about her progress. This was indeed the right way you groom a very young and talented player. She is on the right trajectory and the path she has taken would hopefully be a beacon for other younger precocious talents we have. Again, massive thanks to Randy Waldrum. Nigeria will come to thank this man for building the foundation of arguably the greatest Super Falcons team of all time!

Wishing Debbie all the very best and Hail to Pitt!!
lovewins:
I'm guessing what made this even more irresistible is the new CBA agreement that eliminate college drafts. What this means is that Rookies are now allowed to negotiate with preferred teams like every other free agents. It's why Debbie could sign for the Washington Spirit.

If the draft existed, the worst teams (except for a trade) drafts first. Sometimes, players with eligibility would prefer to stay in college than go to a poor team or a team that would harm their development. With the draft out of the way, players can choose what team to sign for and this makes leaving college early a lot more enticing.

This may be antithetical to your prevailing argument regarding Reno Omokri, but I don't think, in this case, that his comments were meant to 'antagonize the Igbos' or be 'tribalistic.'
Again, from the context of Nigerian football, what I understood from what he said were captured in the following statements he made:

'...we learn from this that where and when you were born does not matter as much as how you were raised. If you raise your child to identify with and project your culture, your offspring will grow up with a sense of self worth that makes them impossible to [be] dominated...'
'...teach your children about your culture, make them proud of it...'
The fact is we have a group of people (even on this forum), who harbor disdain for players wanting to don the green and white, but were born and raised in diaspora. The fact that is these kids ARE Nigerian to the core. The only difference is they were raised in an environment different from the one in Nigeria. That's all.
There is always power in diversity and this is the only way Nigeria will be able to leverage and actualize its true strength and potential.

Again, just a different perspective of Reno's words...

JohnBullMySon:
You don't need to post these kinds of crap here. That guy always writes these kinds of so-called facts with mischievous intentions behind it.

Osimhen and Asissat wore suits last year and no one had an issue with it. That dude is notorious for always trying to antagonize igbos with micheviously curated 'facts'. It's all tribal BS that needs to be left with him and his followers.

If we start posting stuff like this, very soon you'll have people here subtly hate a player or the other because of tribe.

As always, Bankole and his team fail when it matters the most.
Keep losing the crucial games.
No reason why they should have lost this game to a below average Ghanaian team.

He and Danjuma are cut from the same clothe, lacking the tactical intelligence to defeat the more competitive teams.
Nothing but local Champions.

I stand corrected, though.

Seems too harsh honestly. But on the other hand she may have said unsportsmanlike stuff. Anyways the card means nothing. Right?
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 11:21pm On Nov 30, 2024
Pretty obvious the ref must have been on crack or something.
Same with the yellow she gave to Babajide, in the 92nd minute, where the french girl and her went for a jump ball and she decided to give her a yellow, when it was Rinsola who was pushed from behind.
TheSuperNerd:
She only protested the foul which is normal. Ohale was not even close to the action. So she obviously gesticulated her protest. Why a yellow for that? That ref too do joor
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 10:36pm On Nov 30, 2024
Katoto had a similar chance in the 1st half and botched it when going one on one with Nnadozie. Onumonu's chip was exquisite and highly intelligent. Never said she Monday did not contribute anything to the goal. But 95% of that goal was all Onumonu.

Am I supposed to give her credit for giving a timely pass, when Onumonu was on her bike and screamed for the pass?
That's the very least I would expect from her as a professional playing in Spain. Or would you have expected otherwise??
ThePresenceWtf:
The Goal was all Onumonu? are you serious? You know, It doesn't pay to give credit when due.

If Gift had Delayed that pass a second, it'd have been cut out by any of the 3 French Defenders,
If she had Underhit it, the French Defender would have gotten to the ball before Onumonu,
If she overhits the pass, It would have taken Onumonu wide off goal and she would have needed more touches to stay on course for the goal (PS: She wouldn't have scored).

It was a Perfect Pass from Gift and an Amazing Run and Goal from Onumonu!
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 10:16pm On Nov 30, 2024
You read my mind.
One pass, in God knows how many other games where the 'joint was seriously stank up' by her, is the very least expected from someone who has been hyper-hyped.
That goal was all Onumonu, for all intents and purposes. No need for the myopic to try and peddle alternative facts and/or misinformation.
lovewins:
One great pass in the game doesn't suddenly mean she didn't have a horrible half. I personally think playing her with Imruan wasn't helpful and hope to see how she does playing on the right. But the fantastic assist doesn't remove the fact that she had a horrible half.

Yet to see any impact of Magudu's girlfriend (Gift Monday) on the field.
She's always the first player on his list, yet she ain't done nothing on the pitch.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 11:32pm On Nov 24, 2024
I did, thanks to bring her to my attention.
Like her command of the midfield and her fight in the midfield. Also seems to have big lungs on her.
Would like to see how she maps into the SF team, if able.
Deltamani:
I had to go with Favour Emmanuel right now, she has really grown a lot at Lokomotive Moscow, Pairing her with Ucheibe on a Double Pivot would have been great.. She’s another double Lungs 🫁 player who get hard on her Ball recoveries, Her passes look good also.

Don’t know if AkinD have seen her play b4.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 11:22pm On Nov 24, 2024
Yes.
They got relegated last season from the Liga F, even though she has been getting to play the full 90. I also wouldn't rule out a move for her in the next transfer window.
The Spanish div. 2 is still more competitive than some of the other leagues which some of our ladies play for.
Its all about testing out if she will make a good fit.
daveP:
Looks like a downgrade. Division 2?

She moved from Valencia CF to Sporting De Huelva
daveP:
Im glad for the inclusion of those two.

Noticed you've stop updates on Elisha Sulola. What's up with her pls? I wish Macleans was invited though.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 9:24pm On Nov 24, 2024
Again, the abject stupidity of Magudu and the NFF comes to fore...

They leave out the likes of Uchenna Kanu, Esther Okoronkwo, Nicole Payne, Chidinma Okeke, Joy Omewa, Elisha Sulola, or even Maureen Umeughochukwu (who is resident in France) and Macleans, not to mention the likes of Favour Emmanuel (Lokomotive) and Edna Imade?

Wouldn't it have been cheaper to fly these players, most of whom play in Europe already, into France than buying tix for them to fly from Nigeria? Shouldn't this have been the time to test out these potential players that could augment the Falcons, vs wait until tournament proper to find out if they will be a good fit?

I'm pretty sure Magudu will play dumb when you mention Edna Imade's name and pretend he has never heard of her. Of course, he will be quick to invite his favorite chunky-ass keeper Unachukwu, who he invited for the Algeria friendlies.

Just dumb decision making and a lack of foresight.

As anticipated, you are all over the place with your response.
What has one thing got to do with the other? You do understand what 'dual citizenship' mean, don't you? And what intelligence does it make to ignore your talent in diaspora, just because you want to 'develop' the one at home? That is completely myopic and is tantamount to 'cutting your nose to spite your face'!

BascoVanVeli:
U can be Nigerian all u want but the fact on ground is that when u are born in these countries u are also from there. So, we can't expect America to always overlook players like Toni and Michelle. We also would be silly not to develop our obviously talented youngins at home. That's like when pinnick was crying about Tammy when we had a whole Osimhen already.
Well, why don't you ask her? Clearly, she didn't think long and hard enough to digest that obvious fact BEFORE posting her comments. And it is incredibly dumb of any National FA to disregard all other talents outside of those within their country, just because they want to 'develop home grown' talent. Both are not mutually exclusive and can be done concurrently, just as all other forward thinking countries, even in Africa, have been doing.
BascoVanVeli:
The woman's child was born abroad so how much sense does ur comment even make? Are u saying she thinks her own child isn't Nigerian? ?? She has always maintained that our youth program is the way to go. She came from the youth system so how hard is that to grasp?
Dude, again, you are all over the place. I guess I also disparaged the likes of Demehin, or Debbie Ajibola, too, right? Get your facts right!
BascoVanVeli:
Honestly I don't want to hear any crying from you especially. I remember how u used to diss homebase players but now u want to play a whole victim. At least Ngozi didn't say nothing good can come out of fb players like u did about homebase
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 1:07am On Nov 03, 2024
I think it was more than the poll itself - there were subtle jabs at the FB players (prompting the retorts from Tonie Payne and Alozie), which is not surprising in itself, considering she has always put her foot in her mouth whenever she is on social media (poor comments about Waldrum after a WAFCON, crass comments about her being left out of the WC, etc.). This is certainly not outside of the scope of what she would say.

The issue with here is she is still living in the past and is fiercely refusing to move into the future. She cannot seem to wrap her head around the fact that we live in a world where Nigerians in diaspora are also Nigerians. She has always been very myopic in her thought process. Unfortunately, people like her always become a relic of the past and end up being left behind.
BascoVanVeli:
Okay the poll was totally unnecessary. That's where the issue comes from

Clearly, the Nigerian coach's poor footballing knowledge on full display here, as he seems to have lost the plot.

Never seen the team this disjointed and clueless as to what to do next.

The US center-backs are having a field day shutting down the Nigerian frontline.

Nigeria's right flank is the weak link and that is where all the US attack is coming from.

Well, that's what happens when dumb people are put in charge of something this impactful.
Like you rightly pointed out, he could have invited the next tier of players (some of whom you named) with the intention of assessing their readiness to be a part of the 'A' Super Falcons. I mean, we recently discussed actively looking for a credible sub for Nnadozie. Wouldn't this have been an opportunity to get some of the young goalies in Europe?
Instead, he chose to invite 'C' and below players who have NO hope of making the 'A' or 'B' team. Just plain dumb!
Deltamani:
Was there any need for Nnadozie, Demehin, Okeke and Ajibade??

These are seasoned pro and regular SuperFalcons players , if he really wanted to widen the roster as said, he would have gone for those not regular with the Falcons in terms of game time..

Regina Otu, Emmanuel Favour, Blessing Nkor, Rinsola Babajide, Maryam Ezenagu, Nicole Payne, Vivian Ikechukwu, Macleans Chinonyerem, Juliet Sunday, Yetunde Adeboyejo etc
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 1:45pm On Oct 15, 2024
The recurring frequency of such mistakes, and the fact that they are quite elementary is a significant issue, especially from someone rated as one of the better keepers in the world.
You cannot continue to hope that she will 'bounce back', without taking active steps to ensure that the country has backup plans in place. What if she doesn't? Then what?
BascoVanVeli:
Chiamaka Nnadozie should go nowhere. She has made some mistake but she will bounce back.
