Still missing a true, out and out left back.
Okeke is a right footed player who doubles as a left back.
Deltamani:
With Chidinma Okeke Back to where she belongs
It’s clear now that the players in Defense now are…

1. Osinachi Ohale
2. Blessing Demehin
3. Ashleigh Plumptre
4. Michelle Alozie
5. Chidinma Okeke
6. Nicole Payne
7. Rofiat Imuran
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 9:26pm On Apr 09, 2024
Well, that is a great problem to have as a coach.
Hate to be you, Randy Waldrum grin
Deltamani:
Okeke is back in full, but where does she comes in?? Left or Right Back??

The Roaster for the Olympics is very very thin… If they stick to the 18, it’s going to be difficult for Randy to pick his 18players even though he knows them too well, everyone of them need to be on their toes! Stay fit and play well.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 9:25pm On Apr 09, 2024
1. False. Nnadozie has been doing what she is supposed to do as the #1 keeper. The team, especially defense, has also being doing its job.

2. False. Go and watch the match again. As the home team with a few mins left in the match, SA upped its game (something they struggled to do all game long). At no point in time did the SF cede the midfield or any other area to SA during the game.

3. Heck Nah! Please stop trying to force players who are certainly NOT good enough and have a ways to go on our SF team. That girl is a greenhorn at this level and needs to grow. Let her be!

codemaniacs:
1. It's Nnadozie that has been saving the Super Falcons. If she gets injured who is as good as herhuh

2. Another thing is SF needs another tall and fast Center Back so that Christy Ucheibe can play midfield because unlike the England match where SF controlled the midfield in this South Africa match S.F lost the midfield in the 2nd half.

3. Esther Onyinizidane needs to also be groomed and trained for national first team football.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 9:14pm On Apr 09, 2024
Okay!
I will be the first to stand up and eat humble pie that's due.
I said Okeke wasn't impressive from the videos of her I saw playing in Japan. I called her sluggish and heavy and doubted her being invited. Boy - was I wrong. Very wrong!
She put in a masterclass performance over the two legs and most especially, today. She stood up to be counted as one of our warriors.
My Lady of the Match!
Deltamani:
Chidinma Okeke seems to have reinstalled herself into the SuperFalcon Squad, I fear for Rofiat Imuran to be sincere!

Chidinma Okeke gives you a lot of Options LB, RB and CB, she just need to improve in her Attacking side of the game and also play her way back to the top leagues in Europe!

Some Persons (psss...Akin DS) here did wrote her off though, that she was heavy this and that..! At least she proved everyone wrong that she can attain her usual level and better still get better.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 8:45pm On Apr 09, 2024
And still!!!And Still!!!
Undefeated in 15 games.
That was a masterful, fantastic exhibition in world class defending.

That wiley old fox named Randy Waldrum - look how he made the SA team look very ordinary. That first half was just a beauty to behold.
Our Naija ladies are now the masters of defence!!
Deltamani:
Well deserved
15 games unbeaten is no small feat across all competitions

We will continue that run at the Olympic Games and more!
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 8:42pm On Apr 09, 2024
I beg!
Those 3 can't do jack!
codemaniacs:
Super Falcons needs Ajakaye, Gift Monday and Flourish Sebastine as soon as possible..

Players that can run with the ball and keep possession are needed.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 8:04pm On Apr 09, 2024
Can RW please get the hapless Ajibade off?
She has been PISS POOR!
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 7:23pm On Apr 09, 2024
That was Kanu, again! Second match she missed a sitter.
Two players who have been beyond poor:
1. Ajibade
2. Kanu.
ThePresenceWtf:
Damn...How did Ihezuo miss that?!!
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 6:07pm On Apr 08, 2024
This is just not right.
CAF really needs to step up and quash this nonsense!
Deltamani:
Zambia 🇿🇲 Prisca who missed the Penalty against Morocco!

And how good were these very big keepers for Nigeria, huh?
Sorry, but Nadine Angerer was never this overweight throughout her career.
This kid really needs to shed a few.
Deltamani:
Lol 😂 😂

Her well built Physique though, one of the reason I always compare her with Legendary Germany Goalkeeper Nadine Angerer as they look the same in height and body side even goalkeeping abilities too…

We used to have very big goalkeepers back in the days especially as Back up’s goalies Judith Chime (Played in the 🇺🇸) one of the first generation set, Racheal Ayegba (Played in 🇫🇮) among the 2nd generation set of goalkeepers and they were very very good too even with their bulky size…!
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 5:43pm On Apr 06, 2024
…probably not, considering the large Naija population living in Pretoria
lovewins:
But we'll also play better in a good pitch. All of our players play abroad so good pitch is to our advantage. The only advantage South Africa has is the altitude and the fact that they will be playing at home.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 5:59pm On Apr 05, 2024
Demola Olajire is the NFF Director of Media and Communications.
Blame the idiot for this embarrassing and disgraceful broadcast performance.
Useless, incompetent human being who only knows how to abuse people.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 5:47pm On Apr 05, 2024
Looks like Ajibade took the penalty.
1-0

SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 4:51pm On Apr 05, 2024
Sorry, but not feeling this lineup at all!
This is beyond odd.
Hopefully, it would not end up in a disaster.
Deltamani:
Chinwendu Ihezuo Starting is something I never expected…. Randy is a Wonder man.! He caught us all off guard.

Ihezuo as no.9🤦‍♂️, I hope she delivers.
Nnadozie in Goal

Alozie—Ohale—Ucheibe—Okeke in Defense!

Ayinde—Echegini—Abiodun in Midfield

Ajibade—Ihezuo—Kanu upfront
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 5:10pm On Apr 03, 2024
The Portland Thorns vs Racing Louisville game was played before the Bay FC vs Houston Dash game this past weekend.
For some context, San Jose (Bay FC) to London flight time is about 13 hrs, while Portland to London is about 9 hours.
Considering the antics of the NFF (cheap flights with Multiple stops and layovers), who knows.
do4luv14:
Since Saturday after her Club game, heck, she was even subbed out earlier, and yet Kanu who play on Sunday abi it's same day but late is in Camp,

what is she feeling like?
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 5:02pm On Apr 03, 2024
Yes, for the WWC, but not the Olympic qualifiers…

SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 4:06pm On Apr 03, 2024
Sorry, but where did you get your intel from?
Who told you Monday was one of the first to arrive in camp? Don’t think that’s accurate.

Our Nigerian ladies are TOP professionals! They want to make it to the Olympics more than you or I want it. Make no mistake about that. Not sure what commitment you are talking about.

They had club games which they are obligated to attend, by virtue of their contracts and release windows mandated by FIFA. That is NOT their fault. The NFF should have been more intelligent in planning their respective itineraries to ensure they get here early. That is absolutely no fault of the players!
lovewins:
I sincerely do not blame FIFA. The modality for qualifications is CAF and CAF should have chosen a better model that allows for a level playing field. Also, these dates didn't just appear, the FIFA window for these games have been public knowledge since last year. I think we could have planned better and asked the players for a little more commitment than usual. Rinsola and Monday plays for the same club but Gift was one of the first arrival while Rinsola arrived later yesterday. I know it's a bit difficult and won't fault the players, but I think we should have been better prepared.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 3:59pm On Apr 03, 2024
I am surprised people keep falling for all these mind games. All the SA people love doing is tooting their horn. They seem to be the only ones talking. That is typically a tell tale sign of being scared.
So, South Africa came into Nigeria 7 days ago. So ‘bloody well’ what? More than half of their team that came early are fringe players, who would probably not even see a minute of action. Their overseas players came in the same time our Naija ladies came in.
They have had an easy ride to this stage, playing Tanzania and Uganda - whoop tee do! Give me a break!
They wouldn’t know what hit them by the time we are done whooping them!
BascoVanVeli:
South africa have players based at home. Our players have to board flights to get here and we both know that anything can happen when it comes to that. I don't think this is a situation that the NFF is at fault. If anything I blame FIFA for
not arranging this break fairly. This gives a clear advantage to countries that use homebased players.

That said, if Waldrum gets things right we win EASILY
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 5:20pm On Apr 01, 2024
I mean, seriously?
Mercy Akide also ‘plays’, so why don’t you invite her also?
AndSunGorilla:
Onome Evi is also available now and actively playing.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 4:18pm On Apr 01, 2024
She played under Randy in the US Summer series.
She started as CB and ended playing as RB against Jamaica and Portugal (or maybe the other way round).
She was rather unimpressive during the series.

lovewins:
Not competitively. But I think she was in one of their summer camps with Randy as coach. So wouldn't be their first interaction.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 4:10pm On Apr 01, 2024
Okeke cannot and should not be in the back line as a starter. Thats like committing Harakiri!
The back 4 should be the same that ended the Cameroon game.
Alozie - Ohale - Ucheibe - N. Payne
We should be okay
Deltamani:
So right now we have

1. Osinachi Ohale
2. Chidinma Okeke
3. Shukurat Oladipo
4. Michelle Alozie
5. Nicole Payne
6. Jumoke Alani…

This defense line won’t be Bad though.
Alozie — Ohale — Okeke — N. Payne

Or we no longer trust Okeke anymore to play at this Level?? Or Ucheibe should be brought to the CB and allow btw Okeke and Nicole play Left Back.

These old, do nothing women again!
Hopefully, they can be broomed out of the team and younger, more productive people who are in tune with reality are brought in to move us forward.

We need to take that S A team down. No mercy and no quarters given. This one no be play-play. We really need to crush them!

Nicole Payne with cameo in 77th min along with Sinclair.
Contributed to the equalizer.

BTW: why was Kanu doing a celebratory dance with Linda Mothalo of South Africa? Linda is in the enemy camp o!😉

The woman does like to talk a lot, after all, they are ‘African Champions’.
However, I do like the quiet confidence emanating from Randy Waldrum.
Like I have previously stated, Nigeria has a much better and balanced team now, in comparison to the past.
I am optimistic that we would carry the day across both legs.
Deltamani:
Is Desire Ellis' statements cause for concern for Nigeria? Are you confident in the Super Falcons Olympic chances?

Coach of the South African Female Football Team, Desiree Ellis, has revealed she expects the Banyana Banyana to take charge of the game against Nigeria with a good result in Abuja. The Super Falcons will host Banyana Banyana in the first leg at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja on Friday, April 5. The reverse fixture will be held at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria on Tuesday, April 9.

The winners of the tie will secure a spot at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Ellis says she is expecting a hostile environment in Abuja and will have her team prepared for it.

She (Elisha Sulola) and Edna Imade are in the same situation and are ready to go.
Deltamani:
It’s a matter of Coach giving her a Call Up… No Switch required as she hasn’t played for England at any of the age grade level..
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 9:14pm On Mar 26, 2024
Pretoria is even better, at ~ 4400 ft, which is close to the altitude in Jos.
naptu2:
That's why I said that I hope that the Super Falcons' medical team comes up with a solution.

I remember that the Super Eagles medical team had a similar advice when they played in Ethiopia or Kenya a few years ago. The Eagles did well in the first half but seemed to tire out in the second.

The match will be played in Pretoria.
