Christianity EtcAbraham Businesses - His Channels To Divine Blessings by akingonline(op): 3:26pm On Nov 03, 2018
ABRAHAM BUSINESSES, HIS CHANNELS TO DIVINE BLESSINGS
And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold. Gen.13:2
And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his trained servants, born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued them unto Dan. Gen 14:14

Abraham we all know was man that was mightily blessings not only during his lifetime but even to generations after him. Abraham blessings are mine is a common song that we do sing but there are things that Abraham did that provoked the blessings. There are two major ways in which Abraham added works to his faith that brought great fulfillment of promised blessings. One of the major works he did was obedience of faith to every divine instruction that came his way. The second major way he got blessings especially the material and physical ones is through his businesses endeavours.
We shall be identifying some major businesses he did as recorded in scripture and some principles and values he used to build his great business empire in his time that brought the fulfillment of divine prophecies in his life.
FARMING BUSINESS – It is likely animal husbandry was a common business in the days of Abraham. He also engaged this trade and he was doing very well(Gen 13:2). Abraham was a great, covenant minded, good hearted businessman that he easily gave Lot his nephew a good opportunity to make living by setup his venture, even the same business side by side with him. Some other business could have make Lot their manager out of selfishness to remain in control of their fellow relations. Things were going smoothly until conflict started the two employees. Abraham being confident of covenant of greatness upon him, gently intervened and presented a proposal that made Lot to choose first. This is a great lesson to business owners that they should ensure peaceful co-existence with their partners, employees and host communities even when it comes with a cost. After Lot took the lush part of their joint grazing and Abraham was left with parched areas he was very innovative by digging wells to wet the grasses and also provide drink water for the animals. These wells were so useful that even(many years after) when his son Isaac whose crop farming business was challenged by famine, he opened up the wells for irrigation as a means of continuous sustenance of the business.
PRECIOUS METALS MERCHANT: It is very like that Abraham was also a silver and gold merchant, because was rich in them also just like the cattles. We can infer that Abraham must have be into buying and selling of silver and gold, the business did so well that he had many of them by means of huge profits from the trade. Gen 13:2
SECURITY: The wealth and much increase from Abraham businesses had made his family and properties very exposed to attacks and theft. It is likely that it is only kings that had securities which also served as the army for the community. Abraham had to take an individual responsibility by setting security outfit to train some of his servants for the purpose of defence of his family, properties and businesses. This security outfit company did not only succeed in raising well-trained security personnels who were protecting him, they were also very skilled and organized that they engaged 5-nations army and they defeated them(Gen14:14). Abraham would have benefitted a great deal from this security outfit especially after their historic rescue of Lot, many nations would have consulted, engaged, or partnered them for wars.
These among likely others are ways in Abraham engaged his hand and mind to open up channels for the blessings of God to his life. As believers and humans we have many opportunities that abound around us that we can take advantage of, thereby we open up channel for God’s blessings. We can be rest assured as His word promised that whatsoever he doeth shall prosper(Psa1:3).

Christianity EtcJesus Kind Of A Political Leader by akingonline(op): 11:15pm On Sep 19, 2018
JESUS KIND OF A POLITICAL LEADER

How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. Act 10:38.
When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone. John 6:15
Jesus is known by many as Lord, some know him as prophet, to some he is a miracle worker. He is all this but also the greatest leader who ever lived on this earth. Here are some leadership examples that can be a guide to any aspiring leader especially the believers that have callings to go for political positions. Jesus lived a very impactful lifestyle both to his followers and non-followers as they were all beneficiaries of his good gestures so much that they wanted to force him to become the political leader but he didn’t yield because its against the plan and purpose of God for his life.
Provided Food for the poor – One of the most basic need of man is food, once a man is well fed, he thinks right, he’s calm and friendly. We could Jesus showing this example by feeding people that came for his retreat or camp meeting on different occasions. A good leader especially in a political position must take agriculture, food supplies and food distribution seriously. Matt; 14:21, 15:38
Provided Social Justice – During Jesus days, a woman and a man were caught in illicit affair and only the woman was arrested to be stoned to death, the man had escaped or bribed his way out. The matter was brought to Jesus, he asked the one who had no sin to throw the first stone, they all left one after the other. Equal justice should be given to all that perpetrate evil acts, and also capital punishment is not the best way of discipline, other ways of corrective reforms can be applied. John 8:11
Healing (Health) – Jesus took the health of the people as a matter of great priority. He heal all manner of diseases by the anointing of the Holy ghost. Every good leader should take the health concerns of his people a matter of utmost priority. Hospitals must be built, well equipped and staffed to best of the resources available. Matt 12:15, Luke 6:19
Teaching (Education)- Jesus was one of the greatest philosopher ever existed even though he lived a very short life. Bible recorded how he was busy teaching from one place to the other, Mount side, seaside, synagogue . He was passionate about passing knowledge to next generation and his followers. A good leader must be serious about the education of his people especially the young ones. Quality education must be delivered by competent and well motivated instructors in a conducive schools environment. Matt. 5:1-2, Luke 5:3, Luke 6:6
Criticized the evil leaders of his time (He fought corruption) – Bad leaders has always been existence for a very long time. Leaders that are wicked, selfish and inconsiderate, such were some of the Pharisees that existed during Jesus days. Jesus spoke openly against them rebuked them, which made them to hate him to the extent that they plotted his death. Jesus did not fear men who can only kill the body and not the soul. A good leader must make his position know, he must stand for what is right not minding whether it is popular or not, openly rebuke wrongdoings. Matt 23:13-29
He supported and encouraged the patriots: A good leader must appreciate and recognize those that are doing well, making significant contribution to development of the society. In this way the younger and other citizens will be inspired, encouraged and motivated to do well. Luke 7:4-6
Not Power drunk – Neither did Jesus force himself on people, nor allow himself to be cajole in to office or political position not to talk of second or third term against the plan and purpose of God for his life. A good leader see political positions as means of service and he will not compromise his faith to gain authority, he can always serve through another means not only by occupying position.Luke 6:15
Working leader – Jesus is not a type of leader that will delegate everything, that only give commands and not serving. He is the main initiator of servant-leadership style. He believes and act in such a manner that the greatest among men should be the servant of them all. Luke 22:26-27
Great Successors – The success of any leader is best known through his successor. He only succeeded fully when he is able to raise successful leaders like him. Jesus took his time to develop and train his disciples especially the twelve. He was opened about everything he did so much they could replicate him after his departure from the scene. Jesus gave a lot of attention to them, allow them to ask questions, he gave the opportunity to perform, correct them when they failed. John 14:12
Sacrificial – A lot of people see government or public positions as means to quickly enrich themselves, they misappropriate and embezzle public funds. Instead of sacrificing by forfeiting outrageous allowances for their people most of whom are wallowing in abject poverty, they kept allocating big salaries, pensions and emoluments to themselves. Jesus gave his time, talent, anointing, power and even His life for the sake of humanity. He had to accept the supreme sacrifice to be the lamb to be slain for the whole world but he surrendered to the will of God eventually.John 10:18, Luke 22:42

Christianity Etc10 Foundation Steps For Believers Planning To Join Politics - Nehemiah Template by akingonline(op): 6:29am On Sep 18, 2018
10 FOUNDATION STEPS FOR BELIEVERS PLANNING TO JOIN POLITICS - NEHEMIAH TEMPLATE

There has been great awareness and sensitisation for Christians to participate in elections by ensuring they get their PVCs. This is highly commendable but we must begin to think forward and higher especially in full participation in politics and national building.
We need to realise that politics is not business, investment or profession. It is a means of service and contributing of someone's quota to the development of the society.

I want to briefly discuss 10 primary issues to personally resolve before making this commitment
TEN POINTS
1. PASSION : There must be a burden for transformation in certain areas, it can be in the area of health, education, security or infrastructure, etc. For Nehemiah the deep concern that got his passion was the rebuilding of Jerusalem wall. Neh. 1:2-3
2. PRAYERS and FASTINGS : You must take the burden in your heart to the Lord, and also intercede for those already in positions of authority to take right decisions in that area. The first thing Nehemiah did about the burden in his heart was to take it to the Lord in prayers not criticism nor opposition. Neh 1:4-10 Prayers must be without ceasing on regular basis and at every junction on the way. Nehemiah was given to prayers severally just like our Lord Jesus during his earthly ministry.
3. INFORMATION : You must be fully aware of the situation of the issues you want to tackle. For instance in education, you must be able to have some facts at your disposal, e.g The number of schools, their years of existence, the recent or past reforms in that sector, what impact has it made positive or negative. Faith is not against facts and figures. Nehemiah did some personal investigation before carrying out his intention of rebuilding the broken walls. Neh.2:11-19
4. CONSULTATION: You must consult people who have held positions in that area say Principals if its in the area of education, ask questions they must have attempted something you want to do before, why did it fail, are there some underlying issues that are not known to the public. Neh.2:16-18
5. RESOLUTION: You must be determined not to be compromised or involved in actions that might tarnish your image. Neh.5:15 Nehemiah based his decisions on the fear of God and not what the usual practice is.
6. DILIGENCE: In your present vocation or profession you must strive at excellence, you must endeavor to secure good name, build good reputation with your business or work. Neh 2:1 Nehemiah must have done his previous official work as king cupbearer cheerfully and excellently for him to even rise to that top position.
7. CHARACTER :Your lifestyle must be straightforward as much as you can, let there be no skeleton in you cupboard. Neh. 2:4 The king was concerned about his welfare, it must have being good character and the divine favour at work that made the king to grant him that special requests.
8. SOCIAL RELATIONS : You should try and participate in organisations and groups that shared your beliefs, alumni association, community association etc Vie for positions with positive intentions and ensure you achieve your landmark goals for positive contribution in your tenure in office. Neh 1:1-2 Nehemiah got to know the situation of his home country during the visit or meeting with his fellow brethren.
9. GIVING : As you have opportunity and resources to spare, assist people in community, place of work, who might be having challenges especially issues that relate to health bills, school fees and so on. Nehemiah is a man that is very concern about the welfare of his people. Neh 5:1-3
10. DIVINE WISDOM : You need wisdom from above for effective strategy to combat evil oppositions, the heart of men is so evil. There are a lot of evil men benefiting from corruption and decadence in our society. Neh.4:17 The evil oppositions to the rebuilding of Jerusalem employ several tactics to frustrate Nehemiah but they did not succeed. At a point they were working with one and holding weapon with the other. Be wise as serpent but gentle as dove. Mark 10:16.

Christianity EtcFather's Sacrifice - Beyond Provisions by akingonline(op): 8:26pm On May 20, 2018
FATHER'S SACRIFICE - BEYOND PROVISIONS
13. And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.
14 When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt:
15 And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son.
Matt 2:13-15

Joseph like every other man and father must have been properly settled down in Bethlehem with good accommodation, job, friends and relatives. He must have been comfortable to some extent before the instruction to relocate urgently due to the threat to the life of their baby. He could have given it a second thought of sending just the mother and the child while he remain to make some money. His plan must have been greatly distorted, he probably had to disconnect all the partnerships, agreements and relationship he has taken time to build just because of the child. The financial strain and stress might be great on him especially due to the fact that it was impromptu. Apart from the impact of such relocation on his business and finance, it will definitely take a toll on him physically, having to carry some loads, with a nursing mother and the baby. This is an example of what it takes to be a good father. It involves a lot of sacrifice, commitment and diligence. Father's responsibility is far beyond provision of material needs for the family. It involves so many things including spiritual sensitivity and leadership as we can see in the case of Joseph, the angel spoke to him not the wife now. Good fathers needs to maintain a good spiritual atmosphere where they can hear what the Lord is saying concerning them or any member of their immediate family. This entails studying the word, praying and fasting regularly.
Another key responsibility of a father apart from provision is to ensure that the family is protected. Protection is not only physical, but emotional and social protection. Sometimes we found ourselves in an environment in which there are abuses, immoral values, hatred and other evil vices, we must ensure that are our family are properly shielded from them by consciously impacting sound training in a joyful way. Just like Herod was a big threat to baby Jesus, there are so many things that threatened the wellbeing of the lives of our children and we must endeavor to preserve our children from such, usually in a sacrificial way. For example good fathers must stop watching some TV shows, some drinks and other things not proper for the child's wellbeing.
Another responsibility of a father is good attention. The instruction given to Joseph was that he should take and not send your wife and child to Egypt. Sending them (mother and the child only) will make Joseph irresponsible, his physical presence and support is very crucial. Good fathers must not be too busy that they don't have time for their children. They need to create time to be with them, play with them and interact with them. Fathers actually need the grace of God in order to discharge their responsibility effectively. Develop a good relationship with God to tap into this grace, if you have not given your life to Jesus, it's a must to do that before you can establish a relationship with the father.

Christianity EtcBest Birthday Blessing by akingonline(op):
BEST BIRTHDAY BLESSING Gen. 17:1-22

Abraham had been celebrating many birthdays, on his ninety-ninth birthday he decided to do it in a special way. He arranged a special worship session that led to a memorable and generational divine encounter.
Highlights of 99th Abraham Birthday Divine Encounter
A word of hope, reassurance and encouragement – “walk thou before me and be thou perfect”vs1. Prior to this time, Abram had committed adultery that led to the Ishmael even though arranged by his wife but it was still a sin. Abram must have repented and rededicated his life, therefore God in his infinite mercy and lovingkindness had forgiven him and now is encouraging him to walk perfectly before Him. We must not defend our wrong actions, we must be humble before God anytime we take a wrong step. 1John 1:9
A deep and total worship of God, “he fell on his face” – vs3. He did not allow anything to distract him, the circumstances, family and friends, business and so on. He concentrated fully in the worship until God showed up. God loves worship and He is usually attracted whenever and wherever is done in spirit and in truth. John 4:4, Psa 22:3
He maintained a quiet spirit in order to hear what God is saying, “and God talked with him”vs3. He was not doing a lousy worship that the flesh is dominating. He rather tuned his spiritual ears to hear what God is saying as he was worshipping. Rev.2:29, Rev.3:6,13,22.
He got a new name “but thy name shall be Abraham, for a father of many nations have I made thee” –v5. The Lord made him to discover another great potential hidden in him all this while. He got a new vision of what God want to make of him. He is not going to be father of many children but father of nations. When we go to the Lord we should be open to hear things about our future, things we don’t know about ourselves and his plan and purpose for our lives. Jer.33:3
He struck(signed) a great transgenerational covenant (agreement) deal with God“And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant”vs7. It’s a great opportunity and a thing of huge excitement, when signing-in for a new job, contract, record label with big organization. Imagine signing an agreement with King of whole universe who can never be bankrupted. Psa89:34
He got divine instructions – “Every man child among you shall be circumcised”vs10. Every covenant has terms for commitment from both parties concerned. In this case Abraham was to do circumcision and God has to be God over them. We must note that every promise and prophecy usual demand certain responsibilities from us (Deut.28:1). As we are receiving promises, we must also be getting instructions on what to do or not to do.
God bless the wife too- “I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations”vs16. God is a master stragetist and a good lover of homes. God knew that the blessing promised to Abram wouldn’t materialize if the wife is not bless too, Abram alone cannot parent a child. God had to do what He did in Gen1:28 “And God bless them..”. It’s a blessed man and woman that would have blessed children and home. Psa 128:1-3.
God vetoed Abram’s faith –“and said in his heart, Shall a child be born unto him that is an hundred years old”vs17 Abram’s faith before now did not have the capacity to receive what God is about to do. But God had to overwrite his faith acceptance to bring to pass His plan and promise for him. This is a dimension of beyond imagination blessing. Eph.3:20
Abram’s prayer got answered - “And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee” vs 20. Even though Ismael permissive (not God’s perfect)will of God for Abram. God still has regard for the prayer because every child is a blessing regardless of circumstance that brought them. Not all our prayers are perfect yet God answers them – Psa 65:2, we should however be striving to know his perfect will.
Definite prophecy and promise concerning his 100th birthday - "....at this set time in the next year"vs21. Despite the fact that God has blessed Ishmael He still emphasized that the covenant child will be Isaac. He categorically stated that Isaac is coming through Sarah. Abram got full picture of how is next year birthday going to like, with Isaac in his hand. Its God’s will that our years be progressing and always having the years ahead better than the previous ones-Prov.4:18.
A genuine encounter with God like the one analyzed above is the best birthday blessing anyone can ever have.
