PORTER ON THE WHEELS
Then I went down to the potter's house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels.And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying,O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the Lord. Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.
Jeremiah 18:3-6

Porter in this scripture text is meant to be a person moulding clay into an artifact. What is now the person was supposed to working on the clay doing on the wheel? The chief porter here is God, He is a master strategist and planner. He had a grand purpose not just to make a beautiful artifact from the clay. He is perfecting a future plan of making a great giant from ordinary clay who pursue a great plan for Him. This is the reason he was working on the wheel first because as soon the clay is perfectly moulded it will get a divine inspiration by Holy Spirit. After then, this object will now be mounted on this machine with wheel to run the race set for him/her.
These processes takes time from one stage to another. It varies from one individual objects to another. We must realise that although God is a Miracle -worker, He is also Master-planner. In the beginning of the story it looks like the porter is ignoring His duty by not attending to clay but He is not. Later when He started working on the clay, the clay was marred in His hand. One would wonder why clay should be marred in His hands, it simply because moulding is ongoing.
Your life might be going through situation that seems God is ignoring you and attending only to others. It is not so He is actually planning and working on the wheels greatly for your advantage. Sometimes we get worried is my life still in God's hand why is it appearing marrred? Don't be downcasted but be excited the plans of God for your life is great.

We need to build an inclusive mentality into them very early such that as a members of the society, they have their own quota to its development. The challenges in our society such as poor infrastructure should help us to make good engineers in the future by stimulating their thoughts on better designs and deliveries of such solutions. Any health related challenges should prompt us to activate the children minds to different medical professions available where they can contribute to make the world a better place. Crime, kidnapping, terrorism problems of today can be opportunity to let children know about different security agencies that are existing, the current efforts and challenges they making on how they can improve. High cost and scarcity of certain foods and fruit items should help us to let children know about the value chain, from agriculture to food retail businesses.

Meanwhile the result of their findings, research and opinions can be channeled to different quarters where such can be useful. FATHER'S SACRIFICE - BEYOND PROVISIONS
And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.

Joseph like every other man and father must have been properly settled down in Bethlehem with good accommodation, job, friends and relatives. He must have been comfortable to some extent before the instruction to relocate urgently due to the threat to the life of their baby. He could have given it a second thought of sending just the mother and the child while he remain to make some money. His plan must have been greatly distorted, he probably had to disconnect all the partnerships, agreements and relationship he has taken time to build just because of the child. The financial strain and stress might be great on him especially due to the fact that it was impromptu. Apart from the impact of such relocation on his business and finance, it will definitely take a toll on him physically, having to carry some loads, with a nursing mother and the baby. This is an example of what it takes to be a good father. It involves a lot of sacrifice, commitment and diligence. Father's responsibility is far beyond provision of material needs for the family. It involves so many things including spiritual sensitivity and leadership as we can see in the case of Joseph, the angel spoke to him not the wife now. Good fathers needs to maintain a good spiritual atmosphere where they can hear what the Lord is saying concerning them or any member of their immediate family. This entails studying the word, praying and fasting regularly.
Another key responsibility of a father apart from provision is to ensure that the family is protected. Protection is not only physical, but emotional and social protection. Sometimes we found ourselves in an environment in which there are abuses, immoral values, hatred and other evil vices, we must ensure that are our family are properly shielded from them by consciously impacting sound training in a joyful way. Just like Herod was a big threat to baby Jesus, there are so many things that threatened the wellbeing of the lives of our children and we must endeavor to preserve our children from such, usually in a sacrificial way. For example good fathers must stop watching some TV shows, some drinks and other things not proper for the child's wellbeing.
Another responsibility of a father is good attention. The instruction given to Joseph was that he should take and not send your wife and child to Egypt. Sending them (mother and the child only) will make Joseph irresponsible, his physical presence and support is very crucial. Good fathers must not be too busy that they don't have time for their children. They need to create time to be with them, play with them and interact with them. Fathers actually need the grace of God in order to discharge their responsibility effectively. Develop a good relationship with God to tap into this grace, if you have not given your life to Jesus, it's a must to do that before you can establish a relationship with the father.

Your efforts should be concentrated on locating and pursuing your purpose in life. If there is purpose for flowers as gifts,domestic animals as pets, even wild animals in the zoo that men pay to watch there is definitely a very great value on your life. You cannot afford to waste life opportunity.
It is in the revelation of this vision that you identify your calling and assignments in life. When you start following your calling your life become focused and organised for fulfilment. We often feel frustrated when we are outside purpose just like a fish will struggle outside water. Your strength lies in your area of assignment. Your potential will not be fully realised until you fall in line with your purpose in life. You are actually wired perfectly to fulfill your assignment. You may not know you have certain abilities until you start taking step in line with you calling in life.

LEADERSHIP LESSONS FROM NIGERIA 2019 ELECTIONS FOR YOUNG LEADERS

This piece of article is not written for politicians and does not assume our elections are perfect. It is meant for those who had genuine intention become political leaders and aspiring elective positions in the future.
SMALL BEGINNINGS- I believe it is possible to contest and win election at Federal level without occupying any position at local level before. It can be achieved on two grounds either you have made impact nationwide as business person or occupy a national office that has helped you with a national exposure. Apart from these two conditions, its always better to start a lower level other presidency. A good example is Fela Durotoye, Sowore and co, I believe these wonderful candidates could have won Federal House of representative seat with same kind of energy and resources used for their presidential campaign. These young parties could have concentrated their energy in winning some seats in state house of assembly, make good impression and keep enlarging their coast gradually. From history we know that APC was previously started out as AD domininating Southwest then before becoming AC and later after merging with other parties became APC a national party.
GOOD ALLIANCES - Nigeria and most states in the country are so blessed that we have multi-dialect people. We are also populous that good idea may not be to circulate and penetrate every nook and cranny. As a true and passionate politician who is really concerned about solving people's problem then you must be a find others or who share similar passion with you that you can partner with or allied to. Some people should be able to subject their candidacy to others and those that take or use other people candidacy must adopt well-meaning ideas of others into theirs. A good success example is emergency of Seyi Makinde in Oyo that won mainly due to last minute coalition with other opposition parties. Other failure is what happened in Lagos, even though PDP loss but it was not tightly contested as we see in other states largely due to lone pattern of contesting a much stronger, bigger and sophiscated main party APC.
STRATEGIC PLANNING - Die minute arrangement and planning is what I believe is responsible for not so good performance of opposition parties. Their should be more consistent impact and awareness far before election year which should just be stepped as elections draws nearer. Buhari victory is not just today, remember he has lost elections two times before, Seyi Makinde has contested governorship before. Success is not just a day journey, it is usually not gotten overnight.
SOCIETY IMPACT - You must give food to the hungry before the hungry can hear you out. To priviledged and rich among the politicians they must willing to do their benevolence to those who are really in need far before elections not for vote buying but to proof the sincerity of their ambition. Seyi Makinde is a good reference for me in this area, helping the poor endear the heart of the people naturally to you.
INTEGRITY (GOOD NAME): A good name is always better than riches. Generally rich people are well respected this makes young people strive to be rich not minding whether the means are right or not. It is believe that with money you can achieve everything you want to achieve, this is correct but not always so. The main edge Buhari had over Atiku was integrity quotient, Buhari may not be perfect but majority especially in the north percieve he is not greedy like his opponent. In terms of wealth Atiku may be more but trust cannot be bought it can only be earned.

Most people have the mindset that they need plenty money to start business. But it's not supposed to be so. A lot tends to be discouraged, frustrated due to no or low capital startup. Take a deep thought at this, are not all born as babies before we grown up to be adults.
The first important thing is settling down in your mind with the business you want to do, either its selling goods or providing services.
1. Evaluate your resources that you can start with, your ability(skills in service industry), capacity (product volume in goods business).
2. Ask yourself why do I want to do this or what am I offering better than what is existing. You might want to sell cheaper or more convenience, better quality, better customer service etc.
3. Spend goodwill this means going to who can trust you to do something you haven’t done before, or collect goods to be sold and pay later. At this level you must proof yourself to be trustworthy to the partners in order to progress.
4. Next question would be how can I leverage on existing connections either in to your present neighbourhood, among colleagues, family members, church or mosque co-worshippers. Your focus at this level is what I called lean start. You should seek alternative to everything that is requiring money in areas of office space, consultancy, marketing etc.
5. You must ensure you deliver the promise to first set of clients so as to get free word of mouth advert from them.
From the first two to three sales profit earned you can start to extend your marketing plans according to your budget and your capacity of delivery what is promised.

Parental guidance is very normal to be given for children especially in tender age. Even some TV channels, movies are rated as parental guidance advised. The duty of parents did not stop after given the children good education. Education and knowledge is good but experience is also high valuable. Parents need to guide and direct the affairs of the wards to make best out of life. Its usually better to learn from someone experience so as not to run your life as experiment. You can make good life by learning from people’s past mistakes rather than yours. The parental guidance for graduates is not to impose, it is to instruct and inform the children to make better decisions other than just relying on only their instinct. Most times after graduation there are usually many options opening up to individuals in area of marriage, business, career and so on. There is usually a feeling of total independence or a big freedom arrival status for most graduates.

In the biblical text in review, Ruth followed her mother in law back to her home of origin. It was a new terrain for Ruth, although she might have possess high qualifications in her profession, have good strength and very beautiful. All these have potentials for great career, business and lovely marriage but they are not necessary guarantee that one attain it. There is always a need for mentorship for someone to make it early and great in life, good parents automatically fits into this role.

Naomi took her time to counsel Ruth, after a great discussion they have had. Her (Naomi)words were full of encouragements which is needed to get her (Ruth)good attention. She appreciated the good move already made, gave her advice on how to consolidate on that decision very well. Ruth wouldn’t have known Boaz was a relative of hers, she could have just been relating with him as boss in the office. The counsel she obtained from her mother help her to know he is a relative and therefore she could relate with him on that level. It was not just this knowledge that she needed, she also needed step by step instruction on how to approach. Good intention with wrong approach will still lead to wrong result. As we can see from the rest of the story Ruth obedience to her mother–in-law landed her a good marriage that was a great blessing to the world from whose lineage King David and Jesus Christ came.

While the parents are making efforts to do proper guidance, the children too must be responsive and responsible to listen and follow the parents instructions. The children must be humble and submissive to wise and godly counsels offered by their parents. The children should ask questions for clarity and consider prayerfully whatever suggested to them. Ruth was a child to her that gave and took care of her mother very well. Giving to parent is a must and should be accorded high priority. This should start as soon as you are earning incoming no matter how little it is, in fact irrespective of whether the parent is rich or not. Your giving may be monetary or material. This will trigger prayers and more ideas from the parent to flow towards their children.

Parental provision is an obligation of the parents but parental guidance (especially after graduation) is a responsibility that’s to be shared by both the parents and children in order to secure a great generational blessing.

6. Dating can be seen as trial by error in making marriage partner choice, for Christians , we are to be led by the Lord in every affairs of our lives.

7. Dating can leads to avoidable emotional stress and strain, it can be too strenuous for young persons to handle more so that its usually secretive and cannot be easily shared with parents.

8. Dating can be time consuming, when composing love songs, writing letters, poems etc, valuable time that can be to develop one’s talent, gift and other meaningful activites.

9. Dating may hamper someone’s relationship with God, the tender heart of the young people may not be able to balance loving God and fellow man properly.

10. Dating is not scriptural, as we cannot find examples in the bible of the believers that were dating, we only have courtship in the bible.

There is need to inculcate a leadership style that discipline with love (caning and caring) either at home or in office. The balance of discipline with love will bring best out of people. Growth is critical part of nature for all living things. There is need to nurture people into maturity in behavior, manners and attitude.
