Looks like seyi tinubus' loatsad promo media has started tconstruxting their wear house at alaro city.
Look carefully and u would see were some steal structures were put up.
At least we finally get to see a proper aerial. Alaro is trying but is lagging behind his mates Konza and Tatu City which are no longer in this league in terms of space take up. The industrial zone of Tatu city is already at over 70 companies set up or in their final touches. Alaro will soon be overtaken by the new Northlands city which is coming up super fast.

Northlands City, Kenya

▪️This is an ambitious real estate project being set up in an 11,576 Hectares of Land in Ruiru, near Nairobi-Kenya (about 20 KMs from Nairobi)

▪️For context purpose, 11,576 Acres is equivalent to about 47 Sq.KMs (this is nearly equivalent to Roysambu Constituency in Nairobi or more than double Alaro city)

▪️That is, when completed, the Northlands City by area will be equivalent to the famous Roysambu Constituency where many Nigerians set in but never leave once they do

▪️The City is a mixed-use estate comprising residential, industrial, and commercial units

▪️Based on the City's Master Plan, about 3,570 Acres have been set aside for housing; of which,

3,134 Acres are set aside for low density housing

306 acres for high density housing

130 acres for medium density residential housing

▪️The City is planned to house 250,000 people; and assuming its a stand alone City, it would currently be the 9th largest in Kenya by population

▪️Besides the housing, the City is expected to have a Business District sitting on 390 acres of land

▪️Of the above 390 acres, 33 acres are earmarked for a shopping mall and a hotel and 2 acres for a clubhouse

▪️An additional 695 acres have been set aside for construction of an industrial park

▪️The plan for the City is being implemented over 4 phases that will run for nearly 50 years

▪️The Northlands City is currently under progress with some infrastructure underway

▪️The land where the city is being set up is owned by the Kenyatta Family and is currently occupied by Brookside, and Gicheha Farm

New world class school set to be announced at Alaro city as one of the education plots at the project gets cleared.
I have a feeling it's going to be Nova piooner group since they have a pre existing relationship with the Rendevour group and they also announced plans to venture into Nigeria and Ghana. I'm a bit skeptical though because I have seen the owner hint that the school would be in lekki, at one of the plots he checked out in 2019. If it's the Nova piooner group, that would make it two schools for them in Lagos. But if it's not, then it's probably another group. Both ways, it's a win for lagos...
Can we get more images of the developments in Alaro City? Any aerials?

World's first stratospheric drone launched in Kenya.

European aerospace giant Airbus has successfully completed the first stratospheric test flight in Kenya of its high altitude communication drone, which also marked the official launch of this communication technology that is being hailed as a cheaper alternative to Elon Musk's Starlink satellite technology. The drone flew 60,000 feet for over 13 days (20th Jan to 1st Feb) before successfully landing back at the newly constructed and purpose-built AALTOPORT in Laikipia County, Kenya, the first facility of its kind in the world. The port is where the Zephyrs will be assembled, launched and recovered. Zephyr HAPS was equipped with a direct-to-device (D2D) 4G/5G connectivity payload. The system, designed to be compatible with standard smartphones, was tested to evaluate video and data service performance. Additionally, AALTO validated enhancements to Zephyr’s flight envelope, improving stability and overall performance. With Kenya emerging as the company's key operational base, AALTO’s progress signals a new era in high-altitude connectivity, bridging the gap between aerospace and satellite services for global markets.

The company plans to set up five AALTOPORTs in total around the world. The longest Zephyr flight conducted to date lasted 64 days, with the aircraft able to reach a maximum altitude of 75,000ft, beating NASA's Pathfinder Helios. The flight was the highest and longest unrefueled flight over Africa yet and allowed the company to begin using its Elvis powered vehicle to launch the aircraft, a process that has traditionally been done by hand.

“Through their support, national authorities led by the Kenya Space Agency and Kenya Civil Aviation Authority have demonstrated their vision to champion cutting-edge aerospace technologies,” says AALTO, while hailing the African nation’s “pioneering regulatory landscape”.

“For many years, we have worked with strategic partners on promoting technological innovation and opportunities across connectivity and Earth-observation markets," Boulnois said. "Now, thanks to the strategic vision of Kenyan regulators, we are one step closer to commercialising the stratosphere."

Companies increasingly see Zephyr as a flying cell tower enabling the expansion of mobile network coverage in remote areas where building traditional cell phone masts would be prohibitively expensive. Aalto claims Zephyr can deliver low-latency, high-bandwidth cell phone communications directly to handsets, obviating the need for and cost of building and renting land for dozens or even hundreds of expensive cell towers, depending on the terrain, augmenting existing cell phone networks.

I do tend to agree with those who say Africans are their own worst enemies. Instead of accommodating the vulnerable, the politicians find a way to make life even harder for their own people. In the first video, the govt of Ethiopia with its history of youth neglect and repression, and more recently, co-optation through patronage politics, has left young Ethiopians no option but to cross into Kenya each day in search of work where they get exploited as cheap manual labor doing menial tasks. In the second, Uganda after criminalizing LGBTQI+ has left its own people no choice, further increasing the number of asylum seekers seeking refuge in Kenya. A lot of Kenyans dont agree with the global LGBTQ agenda but still tolerate them. You dont have to pile misery onto someone who is already suffering.

Tatu is feasible, howeve, Konza is not. U can get house for 40k usd in Tatu and Alaro city and even then it is still out of reach of most in africa. This statement is according to the ceo stephen Jennings when he was talking about Tatu city. Eko atlantic and Konza on the other hand, are ambitious. U would not be able to get an apartment for anything less than 1million usd. The people at Eko atlantic have realized this and are now targeting the extra wealthy diaspora who are buying this properties for long time. The people at konza, howeve, have not even started. They will meet the same stumbling block.

Lastly, konza would need more than just 1 19 century looking building to be ahead of Eko atlantic.
Eko atlantic, has Over 30 buildings in various levels of construion, including a mall and school.
You have it backwards, or is it upside down? Eko Atlantic and Konza City are on opposite sides of the spectrum. Eko Atlantic's main purpose was to solve the chronic shortage of real estate in Lagos. On the contrary Konza City is intended to be a technology hub. Both of those cities are geared toward very different purposes. The other difference is that Konza City is wholly GoK-owned while Eko Atlantic is owned by private entities working in strategic partnership with the Lagos State Government and to a lesser extent the Federal Government of Nigeria.

At Konza, there is no individual ownership of land, the govt through the Konza Development Authority sets the prices of land. Land is leased for specific uses as outlined in the master plan. The size of land parcels varies depending on the planned use. Since there is no individual ownership of land, there is no cost related to purchasing land. The question of cost therefore flies out the window. You are thinking of Konza city in Eko Atlantic terms, thats why you are so wrong. How many investors have invested or shown interest in investing in Eko? Just a handful, less than 5 I think, including a church! At Konza as at 27th Jan 2025 there are so far over 140 investors and $1.2 billion in investments fully committed. https://itweb.africa/content/lLn147mQYPA7J6Aa

Real estate itself is going to be very cheap because all you need to do as an investor is lease the land at cheap prices then proceed to construct your apartment. Due to this factor, all units within the Konza housing scheme will be offered below market rent rates while staying undifferentiated from market housing. Phase 2 of the project which recently kicked of in earnest will feature housing (Phase 1 did not because it entailed horizontal infrastructure) and thats when we will be here to remind you that Konza is not Eko Atlantic's mate in any shape or form. Give it a max 2-3 years. The likes of Qwetu hostels, a major accommodation brand in Kenya are planning major works at Konza.

Seriously, what is wrong with the entertainment industry in Kenya? I saw a video of the vibrant community at Tatu city and I started binge watching videos of Tatu city on social media. All the videos I saw had Nigerian music in the background. Kenya looks like a good country development wise and it has a good population, I wonder why the entertainment(movies/music and sports) industry there is so poor.
This is the second time they cannot afford to host chan competition on time.
I'm surprised at how obsessed you are with Kenya and Tatu City/Konza City. Maybe you should move. Kenya is the third largest entertainment economy in Africa after Nigeria and SA. Kenyans generally love Jamaican, Nigerian, SA, and American music. That doesnt mean we have no local entertainment industry. Other than the two aforementioned countries, no country in Africa beats Kenya on music/entertainment. Not even the hapless Tanzanian entertainment industry comes close. As for the CHAN, I dont even know why that championship exists. We can do with Afcon. That aside, we decided to do a complete overhaul of the existing stadia and build one from scratch in readiness for Afcon. CHAN is a trash competition we have no time for, the continent should move on. The fact that Motsepe is more than happy to have the tournament moved to August should tell you he also knows its a useless competition meant for DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion).

Kasarani Stadium is nearly complete with a new roof, new seats, and new modern grass. Nyayo stadium is ready. Talanta Stadium which is being built from scratch is a long way off to be complete Dec 2025. Its meant for football and Rugby so that we can be hosting HSBC series on quality grounds. We have been having a conversation on stadia management in the country and I believe in due time we should be having proper stadia management. Atm our stadia are poorly run. Thats one of our unusually rare weaknesses when it comes to sports.

Ewaste is manually being destroyed in GH,while it is growing at intimidating rate in Kenya.

Agbogboloshi the Ewaste site is gradually changing into new dimension.
Ewaste in Kenya is strictly from Kenyan households not imported electronic waste products like in Agboboloshie. Agbogbloshie is ranked among the world's top ten most toxic places with over 3/4 of the waste coming from Europe. Europeans literally dump all their electronic devices in Ghana. The site is laden with toxic chemicals like mercury, lead, arsenic, chromium, cadmium, copper, cobalt, nickel, and lithium and the burning of these devices causes toxic fumes. Ghana's EPA should impose severe penalties for anyone engaging in e-waste imports besides creating a serious ewaste recycling plant. E-waste is not a problem in Kenya because there is a big recycler in Nairobi that collects and recycles waste from all towns/cities across the country. You will rarely encounter electronic waste even in dumpsites because it gets collected before ending up in a dumpsite.

WEEE Centre is an electronic waste disposal and recycling company based in Nairobi, Kenya. WEEE Centre also has various collection centres in regional cities in Kenya. Electronic waste is collected from communities, taken to collection centres, and later taken to the main processing facility in Nairobi. Here, waste is taken apart, recycled, repurposed or dismantled and separated into various material types like plastics, copper, rubber and many others. These are sold to manufacturers who reuse them.
