ghost: Corruption have gone too deep, too comfortable into our Nigerian roots and fighting it has become too much a risk to take when the beneficiaries and their extended clans never want it changed. You have come here to express your ignorance. Under the kero direct arrangement between capital oil and Nnpc, kerosene not diesel can be sold from tankers to buyers at N50 per liter and the beneficiaries are the common men. It is allowed. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/dec/15/nigeria-dick-cheney-plea-halliburton Nigeria's anti-corruption police have dropped charges against Dick Cheney, the former US vice-president, over a multi-million dollar bribery case after the energy firm Halliburton agreed to pay up to $250m (£161m) in fines. The move followed the intervention of ex-president George Bush Sr and former secretary of state James Baker, according to Nigerian press reports. The country's Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) said it met officials representing Cheney and Halliburton in London last week after filing 16-count charges relating to the construction of a liquefied natural gas plant in the conflict-ridden Niger delta. Femi Babafemi, a spokesman for the EFCC, said: "There was a plea bargain on the part of the company to pay $250m as fines in lieu of prosecution." The sum consists of $120m (£77m) in penalties and the repatriation of $130m (£83m) trapped in Switzerland, he added. Babafemi said he expected Nigeria's attorney general Mohammed Adoke to ratify the decision . "I can tell you authoritatively that an agreement has been reached." Several Nigerian newspapers added that Bush and Baker took part in negotiations through conference calls with Adoke and other officials, but Babafemi could not confirm this. Houston-based engineering firm KBR, a former Halliburton unit, pleaded guilty last year to US charges that it paid $180m in bribes between 1994 and 2004 to Nigerian officials to secure $6bn in contracts for the Bonny Island liquefied natural gas project in the delta. KBR and Halliburton reached a $579m settlement in America but Nigeria, France and Switzerland have conducted their own investigations into the case. Last week, the EFCC charged Halliburton chief executive David Lesar, Cheney, and two other executives. It also filed charges against Halliburton as a company, which was headed by Cheney during the 1990s, and four associated businesses. Campaigners in the Niger delta expressed disappointment at the plea bargain. Celestine AkpoBari, programme officer at Social Action Nigeria, said: "I would have loved to see Dick Cheney in chains in our court and facing justice in our prisons. That would have been a very big point that would have lifted Nigeria out of its woes." Kentebe Ebiaridor, a project assistant at Environment Rights Action, suggested that Bush and Baker took part to protect America's huge oil interests in the region. "They are trying not to jeopardise the relationship," he said. "But if Dick Cheney is guilty, he should be brought to book." |
I remember a few years back when a warrant was issued for the arrest of D|ck Chenney because of sharp practices of Haliburton in Nigeria. The US government entered a plea bargian with Nigeria for their ex vice President. Over $500Million USD was paid to Nigerian government through EFCC to put a closure to bribery scandal that even invovled OBJ and many powerful elites in Nigeria. Heaven did not fall. Is state pardon not meant for criminals. Why do any of us here think America can come here and moralise us. At the time of Alams trivails, everyone knew that Obj wanted to teach him a lesson. Those who throw stones at a glass house should know that they may be the emerging crack from the impact. This include United States of America and other elite groups in Nigeria. |

Right now, I am at Bovi show which he said was suppose to start at 7:00 pm this is 8:45, not even a word from the organizers why they are running late. The NIgerian audience is highly taken for granted and I happen to be one of them. They take your money and give you a half baked show after so much hype. When will this country and the people that depend on our patronage begin to pay attention to intrinsic intangible values of keeping to time and promise. Bullocks!!! |

http://thecitizenng.com/happening-now/court-orders-access-bank-coscharis-to-discontinue-case-against-capital-oil-in-london/ A Federal High Court in Lagos yesterday directed Access Bank Plc to withdraw a suit it filed against the Capital Oil and Gas Limited and its promoter, Ifeanyi Ubah in London. In his ruling on the application of Capital Oil and Ubah challenging the propriety of Access Bank suit in London during the pendency of the suit in Nigeria, Justice OKon Abang also ordered the bank to discontinue the suit within 48 hours and exhibit a notice of discontinuance at the next hearing date. Justice Abang further faulted the bank’s decision to secure an order from a London Court despite a subsisting order of his court barring Access Bank and others from interfering with the properties and business interests of Capital Oil and Gas Limited pending the determination of a suit by Ubah and his company. The judge upheld argument by the lawyer to Ubah, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN) that, by heading for London over a dispute in relation to a transaction that took place in Nigeria, the bank has “ridiculed the Nigerian judiciary.” He restrained the bank from enforcing the order made by the London Court against the assets and business interests of Capital Oil. The judge held that Ubah were at liberty to apply to his court for leave to commence contempt proceedings against bank and its principal officers. He further held the Ubah and his company could sue for damages if they so wish. The ruling was on an application by Ubah and his company, challenging the legality of a worldwide assets freezing order obtained by Access Bank from the London court on November 9 last year, in relation to issues that formed the subject of the pending suit before the Nigerian court. The court has been adjourned till February 4. |

In what seems to be the most spontaneous reaction by Christains on any form of blasphemy against Christ and Christainity, Christains all over Nigeria on Monday took to the streets in protest of what was perceived as unacceptable utterrance by a Muslim, whose radical views over time has fueled religious crisis in the Northern part of Nigeria. As at the time of filing this report, twelve mosques and scores of Muslims have been set ablaze in major cities across southern NIgeria. This is coming on the heels of the apologies tendered by Mallam El'rufia who alleged he was taking out of context. I go die Christian movement (IGDCM) have spoken strongly against all sort of blasphemy against their religion and as such has decided to declare El'Rufia wanted for trial in IGDCM court. One of the protesting Christains who spoke to our reporter notes that as a Protestant believer in Christ, he has the right to send unbelievers to hell while doing God's bidding in line with God's promise for enternal life. I will fight and destroy unbelievers as my sign of love for my neighbor going by the instructions of the good book he said and shouted IGDCM forever!!!

asha 80: by the has capital oil started operations?i do not think i have seen their trucks lately. All Nnpc trucks are from capital oil. Go and research it. You don't have to see capital brand unless it is under the kero direct scheme. They are in business. |
asha 80: you mean imkhoukode?yea i agree too he needs to face his own music but don't you think ubah also has some issues that needs answers?Nothing has bee proven against Ifeanyi Ubah so far. He was entirely cleared by all the committees aside the one led by Aig whose core motive was to indict Ifeanyi in order to take over his business. I pity people who do business with access bank because the bank under the leadership of Herbert and Aig will always work towards frustrating their customers' businesses in order to pave way for a forceful take over. It is pathetic really. |
