Number 1. The first thing is to gradually phase out the subsidy. It should be removed in phases, not just a abrupt removal

Number 2, Encourage the smaller refineries to work ( kudos for giving Dangote refinery an enabling environment).. and encourage dozens of modular refineries thru public private partnership to spring out in the niger delta. This would discourage oil bunkering and oil theft.

3. Plug loopholes that encouraged subsidy scam by ENFORCING strict penalties for those who are directly or indirectly involved in subsidy scam respective of the region or religion of the perpetuators. This can be done by encouraging the rapid and expedited prosecutor while broadcasting the proceeding to serve as a deterrent to others whether the person is highly placed or not. They should be treated like drug traffickers

4. Lead by example by cutting down government spending on luxury items by those in power. Show the people that you embracing austerity measures like they are too. It's a slap on the face when u ask the local man to manage while you are driving in a convoy of over 50 luxury vehicles.

5. Show accountability by giving the breakdown of money "saved" from the partial subsidy removal and tell the populace what has been done with the monies so far. Encourage repair and upgrade of old roads and focus on rural road expansion

6. Provide transportation services in urban and rural areas at reduced cost and provide sustainable power for people

7. Avoid with elephant projects and invest in election , health and general well being of the population

These are just a few of the safety nets.....

If people see that their "sacrifices" is yielding positive gains, they would not mind that much



We knew subsidy was a conduit pipe for siphoning the country's money and the reason Nigerians were against its removal is what we are seeing now. Monies are used for white elephant projects without any things substantial to show for it

People were against subsidy removal because we don't trust the government. And time and again, they have showed that they cannot be triusted

Zero accountability, those in power are detached from the realities on the ground and they make it seems as though our opinions doesn't matter. Lives as lost daily thru hardship and the government do not give a flying eff

What we have seen are people in power feeding fat from govt while the masses slave away

For us to be able to answer that question, Tinubu needs to release the withheld local government funds first and tell Oyetola not to pursue the election in court. You can't have a gun over my head while asking for endorsement and think I wouldn't say yes. Same Tinubu who had to declare a state of emergency in Rivers and deny Fubara a return ticket. Governors are wary of him and the endorsements are borne out of fear, not love. A lot of them will be happy to see him leave in 2027 if they can secure their own re-election.
