Someone from SW is purposely pushing this thread to front page to incite war between Igbos and Hausa-Fulani. Let me tell you something....Northern elders have already warn their youths: don't retaliate because Igbos will thank God if we retaliate as that will immediately end this country...likewise end oil money for them! Igbos are looking for any slightest opportunity to leave this country...Northerners know this and are very cautious!

see delusion of the highest order. How many oyel una get for that erosion ridden land locked East? How is the fight between hausa and igbo in the east a yoruba agenda?

Not that I'm supporting Hausas cos they get there own plenty palaver but honestly an average igbo man is a tribalistic bigot. I recently liked their Biafran page on Facebook and it's sickening. The length they will go to to discredit Nigeria and cause agitation among their gullible followers. They post fake pictures and fake stories just to rile up themselves. It's obvious they are yet to learn from the casualties of the Civil War. They live and progress in other people's land more than any other tribe in Nigeria yet they are preaching hate and intolerance. And the comments from supposed educated igbo youths on the buafra page makes me dumbfounded at how people can be filled with so much venom and hate. This is the result. I hope they remember their kinsmen are in their millions in the north. God bless Nigeria.

There's no hero worshipping here. Amanda owes much of her literary out pourings to Achebe. We are yet to conclude the debate between Soyinka and Achebe who's the better writer. Just a single book light the whole of Africa and questioned European literary hegemony about Africa not having history, Literature and culture. That book was translated into over 100 languages and still counting. If you have read Daniel Defoe's Robinson Crusoe, Things Fall Apart critically brought that book to literary shreds and confined it to the dust bin of intellectual literary discuss. This is coming from someone whose first degree is in Literature in English

Chimamanda will naturally look up to Achebe but it's intellectually wrong for u to conclude that she owes much of her literary writings to achebe. Heck, even achebe himself will not dabble in such delusion. Chimamanda is a literary writer in her own might.

As for ur talk about comparison of shoyinka and achebe, that is for fickle minded people. Shoyinka encompass all literary genre and excel in them. Achebe excels only in fictional writing, so don't even think of starting an argument u can't finish.

You now mentioned Daniel Dafoe' s Robinson Cruesoe which to the best of my knowledge is a story about the title character being marooned on an island for several years. Pls tell us, how has things fall apart dispel any black myth in relation to this text?

As to having a first degree in literature, I don't know why that piece of info is necessary in this discourse especially when you don't appear to have full grasp of what you are saying.

N. B google Conrad's Heart of Darkness. That is the book things fall apart dispelled.

Not to rubbish Achebe's achievement in the literary world. He is a pioneer and a master of the craft of story telling but Chimamanda is a far better writer.

Majority of those shouting Achebe most probably are just hero worshipping and have never read a single book of Chimamanda. Achebe is a good story teller while Chimamanda is a better literary artist.
