On the issue of vibrating and rattling sound, tell your Mechanic to check the Engine and gear "mount" it is possible that they are bad and if it is so it makes the engine to vibrate, also if your idle control valve is not working well, it will make the engine to vibrate especially when the gear is engaged. Cheers!!

Your car is 'drinking' fuel. i.e. excess fuel is getting to your injector, more than it should take normally. The excess fuel is now burning out and that is what you are seeing as black carbon. See your auto technician. Cheers!!!!

@ Ericomoto, I have gone thro this before, and these are things your technician need to look at:
1. Check your a/c condenser whether it is dirty, if it is dirty go and flush it. Condenser is that Thing in front of radiator that also looks like radiator.
2. Check the speed of your radiator fan and also check the direction d fan is blowing.
3. Go and flush your radiator.
