MorataFC: Many people comment irresponsibly with simplistic and myopic thinking, failing to consider the relevance to the subject matter and giving us misquided comparisons.
I, too, could pose 1001 frivolous questions on the issue based on the question you asked.
For example: Is there any record of Jesus paying for food? Do you pay for your food today abi you are still eating free food?
Did Jesus pay for the donkey he used for transportation? Do you pay for your transportation today abi dey still dey carry you like a baby?
Is there any mention in the Bible where Jesus pay for house rent? Do you pay rent today abi na free house you still dey live?
I could go on and on. Please contribute thoughtful insights, rather than biased opinions against the church If Jesus and the disciples don't pay for food, when then do they have a purse and a treasure or account keeper? |

I don't even know where to start with you. You won man. Have a good night. LOVEALAIGBO: Dude, you’re being selective in your analysis and only picking aspects of the entire story that suit your ‘Yoruba supremacist’ agenda! Analysing the issue would require much more nuance than just looking at FEDERAL ALLOCATION to states! Even the one of federal allocation is unfairly tilted in favour of some and against others! This wouldn’t register with you because you lack the capacity to be fair and dispassionate! I mean, how fair is it that the sharing formula is based on useless landmass and population!? How fair is it that the evil hegemonic alliance removed large swathes of Igbo territory rich in hydrocarbons and placed in Rivers state in 1967!? The aforementioned injustices have led to states like Kano, Kaduna, Lagos, etc receiving more allocation than a state like Imo that has been cheated on so many levels! Yet you prattle on about ‘allocation’!
All those ‘wonders’ you mentioned coming out of Lagos are the manifestations of the political-economy i refer to that has brought about a unlevel playing field that primarily benefits Lagos/south-west and Kano/Kaduna/north! Lagos doesn’t need to get ‘the most allocation’ because it’s benefiting more from the unjust structure even more than those states getting more than they get!
How come Lagos can ‘lobby’ the federal gov’t to get a refinery located in their state to work, yet Rivers, Delta and Kaduna haven’t!? You mind telling them the magic word you intend telling the federal gov’t so they can get the ones located in their states to work also!? How come this your ‘lobbying’ hasn’t got you constant electricity!? Dude, what you have inadvertently done is corroborate my assertion that the Nigerian political-economy and structure have been fashioned to benefit a few, who control the centre at any point in time, to the exclusion of everyone else! This is how OANDO whispered into Tinubus’ ear and their fortunes miraculously went stratospheric….buying out AGIP 100% at a knock-down-price, and gaining a market capitalisation from a mere 70 something billion naira to over a trillion in one year! Even NVIDIA would be green with envy!
Everyone honest to themselves knows the Fulani/Yoruba hegemonic alliance entrenched a unitary system of gov’t in all but name in the late 60s that cancelled the hitherto owning of resources by the regions who remitted 50% of the proceeds from their resources to the centre….this was stopped by Gowon and Dodan Barracks grabbed everything! As they were doing this, they removed the high yielding hydrocarbon areas of Alaigbo (then East Central State) and placed in Rivers out of sheer wickedness, covetousness and hate!
ALL the banks, multinational-national corporations and embassies/high-commissions had their headquarters in Lagos…later to be transferred to, or shared with Abuja! Tell me how this didn’t disproportionately favour Lagos in particular and Yorubaland in general!? You know the huge amount Lagos makes just from PAYE receipts!?
The wickedly crafted Nigerian political-economy has invariably led to Lagos (and later Abuja) being a magnet for Nigerians seeking to take advantage of the economic and consular opportunities bestowed on the city! All this, while the rest of the country is left to make do with the little they’ve been left with!
What i’ve argued thus far is just the injustice you can see! A lot more goes on behind the scenes to sabotage the economic and political interests of those the hegemonic alliance see as the ‘competition’, as well as disproportionately favour the south-west/Yoruba and the core-north/Fulani! Hope you saw how the evil scumbag Buhari came in 2015 and left in 2023 having finished and done up nicely the international airport terminals in Kano, Abuja and Port Harcourt while leaving the one in Enugu to gather dust and cobwebs!? Hope you saw how he used billions of dollars of loan money (which all of us will have to pay back) to provide undated rail infrastructure for the north and south-west…even up to Niger Republic, while the south-east has been left to make do with railway infrastructure that’s dated to as far back as when our ancestors walked the earth!? Hope you see how billions of dollars was found ASAP to construct the AKK gas pipeline to suck gas out of the south-east and south-south to the north!?
Like i said, this discussion is more nuanced than just REVENUE ALLOCATION! |
Politics › Re: How Lagos Underdevelopes The Rest Of Nigeria by alanto: 8:06pm On Sep 06, 2024 |
MadPolitician: Lagos is banking trillions from huge taxes on thousands of businesses that were attracted to Lagos since the colonial days, because Lagos used to be the political capital of the country, and is still the financial capital of the country as we speak. Those banks headquarters and co are not in Lagos because of tinubus "economic miracles", they were there before tinubus emergece, and are still there because of Lagos status as the finacial capital of the country. And the fact that the fulani/yoruba alliance, has rendered other ports in the country comatose. When colonial masters arrived Lagos, was Lagos a bush? Lagos was centre of commerce at the time. They ( the colonial masters hard to merge northern and southern Nigeria together because of Lagos money because other regions weren't making enough money even for their own administration but Lagos had money and this was over 100 years ago when there was no Nigeria. They even administer Nigeria from Lagos. Because Lagos had everything to be a capital it was already made so. Or why didn't they chose from the center of the country they created? Why did they chose to go to the most extreme western location of the country? Use your head madasaka. Blame Lagos success for his location and good visionary leadership but don't give the glory to federal government. That's wrong way to hate. |
Politics › Re: How Lagos Underdevelopes The Rest Of Nigeria by alanto: 7:58pm On Sep 06, 2024 |
LOVEALAIGBO: The title of the thread reminds me of the book by Walter Rodney! The strange thing is that almost all of us will agree with the arguments canvassed in that book! However, the Nigerian benefiting from the present political-economy, being the unfair-minded and greedy fellow he is, would not want to be judged by similar moral standards! To him, anyone complaining is just ‘wailing out of jealousy’! Are you talking about the book how "British Underdeveloped Africa" kindly make a comparison. Tell us how Lagos took other state resources and refuse to help them grow by holding his own resources, Lagos doesn't get the most allocation in Nigeria, so the state with the most allocation what are they doing with their money. If any of the 3 federal governmet refinery were in Lagos, it will be working right now because Lagos will lobby the federal government and they will invite private investors. Everything in Lagos are privately own, the federal government doesn't own the BRT, Railways, the refinery or the Lekki free trade zone that houses the biggest American embassy in the world, not even the Ozumba Mbadiwe. Like Helinues use to say if you don't stop all these hate and take your life serious, you will beg like those before you. Lagos and SW Nigeria is unstoppable. You had a leader in Azikiwe when Awolowo was building the first TV station in Africa in Ibadan, the University of Ibadan or the Cocoa house all built with cocoa money with no federal help. Heck there wasn't even anything federal at the time. If the subsequent governors both military administrator and democratic elected governors of Oyo had visions like Tinubu had for Lagos. Ibadan would have been the number one city in Nigeria. Use your brain, no one is holding you back but your failed leaders Azikiwe and others. Azikiwe was able to convince you all to hate Awolowo to cover for his failure. I mean Awolowo even gave us free education when there were no oil money. |

But these isn't enough reason to tumble on the west leadership because of internet space ♨ ♠ The guy said it would be detrimental if at least 100 people has the other guy's mentality from your whole zone and there are already two of you on this thread I guess there are at least 1m of people that reason like both of you. First of all. Separate SE from SS. Those are independent states because you are talking about SW a singular zone. Politics › Re: How Lagos Underdevelopes The Rest Of Nigeria by alanto: 12:12pm On Sep 06, 2024 |
Is like this one did not hear how many states Dangote tried to site his refinery before finally settling in Lagos. I felt disappointed with Ondo and Ogun for their bad leadership. The refinery would have been sited in one of those states... When other states understand what policies to make to better the state, when they realize what investor to entice and how to entice them. Lagos before 1999 was not the way it is right now. Victoria Island was the pride of Lagos, you will see electronic billboards around Falomo I think. But Lagos was not what it is now. You can write or rewrite history but it is what it is. Ogun state is the most industrialized state in Nigeria. And I will tell you why. Every state have the potential to grow if the governor knows what investor to approach and how to lure them over and if the community would welcome investors and not send them away with billings and kidnapping like in some SS states.
Don't cry about Lagos or SW Nigeria. Start thinking of what you can do to make your own state better if assuming you were a governor because one day you can become the administrator of your own state of origin.
Look at the problems. When Railways, Refinery, power generation were in the hands of federal government Tinubu found a way to make Lagos achieve these things. Federal government frustrated many of his plans and hardwork but because of how high he aimed look at where Lagos is right now. Imagine if OBJ had allowed Lagos generate and transmit it's own power for decades. What state in Africa would compete Lagos in 2024?
Think. Nigga, think.

I'll appreciate your kind suggestions. You are going to set yourself up for constant billing if you don't Waka jeje. You can take a gift along with you, yes. But that should be like wine for the dad and maybe non alcoholic for the mom. Anything other than that will make you look like someone that has money and his ready to throw it around plus you don't need to buy their love. Be yourself around them and have them like you. Don't dash your inlaws money when you go to see them. It's ridiculing, if there's anything that anyone of them need to better their lives if you can help them with money on something like that do it.
