Hello everyone, we all know the saying that a problem shared is a problem half solved and in the light of situations this days , there's at least one broken down car in every kilometre on any highway.either due to negligence or poor knowledge on the mechanic's part. I've started this topic because as a car owner I've had several issues that I pay my auto repairer to fix only for it to reoccur in a short while. I feel it will benefial if people can come together and discuss , share and guide each other with symptoms, problems and their personal or recognized method of solution. All thats required from each participant either during their free time or hour of distress is their car model, year, engine spec with any issue. Thanks all and happy New year in advance

Siena, I've become a big fan of this thread. I'm having problems with my 2001 audi a6 2.7 quattro. The car has 178000 miles on it. The cel is on, however there have never been any red indicator lights. Recently after a short trip the car would not start. The engine cranks but won't start. Sprayed some carb cleaner into the intake, it started then died.

Previous to this the oil pressure sensor light flickered on and off a few times. It would then show a loss of oil pressure briefly then recover.

I used the obd scanner and it gave 3 codes p1475, p0421, and p0431. I have absolutely no idea what those mean but I'm fairly certain none of those are good.

In addition, the car during the summer runs hotter than normal no matter what. It routinely goes one notch past the center mark with the ac on. I hear fans whirring but they don't appear to help. The engine seems strong, but if you step on the had, the rpm meter spikes but the car doesn't accelerate . It hesitates then speeds up.

Lastly, there is a hose connected to nothing. It must have some purpose. Not any obvious places to connect it too. I've attached a pic of the mystery hose.

I love the car but I'm ready to send it over a cliff. I'm a mechanical idiot but I can follow directions. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. One more thing, I'm beginning to suspect my local mechanic is a bigger idiot than I.
