Wadeoye:
I dont understand what these Igbo people think they are. Igbo more than Yoruba in Lagos? How?

Where are they in Lagos? - Ayobo, Ipaja, Dopemu, Agege, Ikorodu, Ogba, Mushin, Ojuelegba, Epe, Badagary, Isheri, Ikotun, Egbeda,

The population of Igbo here is not more than 20% of the population of Lagos.

If there population is anything above 20%, why have we not seen so many Igbo cancellors, chairmen, honorables, etc in Lagos?

Let all of them vote for GEJ, that will not give GEJ more than 15% of the vote in SW.
thank for the bolded cheesy

i have even forgotten those area of lagos,.,. sad but true the population of igbos in lagos has been overestimated by the eze indigbo of lagos

well all said and done, i know even the so called 15% of igbos will follow the populace because most of them are evn abagbro and OPC member now in lagos. some even danfo driver will others are in yaba mixing into the community and some even know haw to speak yoruba than ileke-idi herself grin grin grin

excanny:
In the case of the SW, I doubt if GJ will lose. Worst thing will be getting close to 50% of the votes there.

Someone gave me a modest percentage of the demographies in Lagos.
Yoruba- 40% 70%
Igbo- 20% 12%
Hausa-15% 8%
SS-15% 7%
Others-10% 3%

Of these you already have 35%(Igbos+SS) who have openly declared their support for Jonathan.

Let's say we put into consideration some SE/SS who might decide to vote differently as X. Remember some Yorubas also do not have a soft spot for Tinubu's party/Buhari. Let's put this group as Y.

X cancels Y, and the 35-40% sure votes for GJ stands.

Believe me, if GJ doesn't cause an upset in the SW, he wont get less than 50% of the votes there.
that is the true estimate, just because you do not see the yorubas in the city does not mean they are not there

go to epe and other rural areas in lagos they are there

we and igbos are more in the city than rural areas in lagos, the yorubas are in every corner of lagos to be honest

PoliticsPolice Secure Release Of Abducted Ondo Monarch by aljharem(op): 8:05pm On Feb 20, 2011
BY DAYO JOHNSON
AKURE—POLICE in Ondo State have secured the release of Oba Samuel Oyegbemi, abducted by some militant youths in riverine Ijaw community, Iju-Osun, Ondo State.
Last week the militants invaded the town and abducted Oba Oyegbemi, set his palace ablaze, other buildings and allegedly killed five persons.
Speaking with newsmen, Ondo State Police Command Public Relations Officer, PRO, Mr. Aremu Adeniran, said the monarch, was hale and hearty.
Adeniran said a combined team of the anti-riot and regular police officers, deplored in the area, secured the release of the monarch on Saturday.
He said the monarch was in high spirit and was not rough-handled by the Ijaw youths who abducted him after setting his palace and other houses ablaze, during their rampage.
He said nobody had been arrested by the police over the unfortunate development, but confirmed that the command had begun investigation into the matter.
Reports had it that some Militants youths from Ijaw invaded Iju-Osun town in the Irele Local Government Area of Ondo State and burnt the place.
Adeniran, however said only two lives were lost while the palace of the monarch and two other houses were torched.
According to him that the ijaw youths were probably on a revenge mission following the discovery of the body of an ex militants in Iju-Osun, on Thursday.
He said, “Security has been beefed up to avert further loss of life Ikale. Our men are there.
We are making efforts to release the monarch. The man is good. No report of any clash was recorded before the discovery of the corpse of the late monarch in the town”
It was learnt that the invasion of the town by the ex-militants, followed the mysterious death of a middle aged Ijaw man, simply identified as Samuel in the town.
The deceased reportedly hailed from Arogbo Ijaw in Ese odo local government.
A High Chief in the town told reporters on Friday that the militants shot sporadically and later set several houses including the palace of the Olughogho of Iju –Osun, ablaze.
He said residents of neighboring towns like Ajagba, Akotogbo and other villages in the area had also fled their towns in anticipation of possible invasion by aggrieved militants in the Ijaw communities .

A PEOPLES Democratic Party, PDP, Chieftain in Sokoto State, Muktar Mapia, weekend, advocated death penalty for public office holders found guilty of embezzling public funds.
Mapia said in Sokoto that such law would bring to an end cases of corrupt practice among public office holders. He said that the nation would have achieved a lot since independence if proper measures were put in place to check the activities of corrupt public office holders.
He said: “Just take a look at China. Any public officer found wanting is publicly executed. We have suffered too much in the hand of corrupt public office holders and it is time to put behind us corruption for the sake of generation yet unborn.”
He said that the future generation would not “forgive us if we fail to lay a sound economic foundation for them”. He also called on the judiciary to complement the effort of the Federal Government in the fight against corrupt practice.
“For us as a nation to achieve our desire of building a strong and viable country, we must fight corruption in all ramifications“, he said.

Barring any last minute changes, Mr. Afolabi Tajudeen Adeola, former Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Guaranty Trust Bank Plc, former chairman of the National Pension Commission (Pencom), and former member on the (Tony) Blair Commission on Africa, may have been named the running mate of the fledgling candidacy of the anti-corruption czar, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.

Ribadu is the presidential candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN). If this happens, it would follow on the heels of the Chief MKO

Abiola-Alhaji Babagana Kingibe Muslim-Muslim ticket, which was widely accepted by Nigerians across regional and ethnic lines in the annulled 1993 presidential election.

Analysts believe it may work again because both Ribadu and Adeola are not known to be religious champions, practising their faith privately and quietly. They are equally known to work across religious and tribal lines.

Party sources confirmed that discussions and consultations are still on-going on the choice of Adeola, and it is expected that matters relating to the pairing of duo will be concluded later today in the evening to beat the INEC deadline tomorrow (February 21) for the substitution of presidential candidates and their running mates.

When contacted last night, Adeola confirmed that he had been approached by the leadership of the ACN but that they were yet to conclude discussions.

The former banker, who likened the decision to a marriage between two people, also admitted that issues relating to the development must be concluded today.

“By the grace of God, everything will be resolved by this time tomorrow (today, Sunday).”

Adeola added that all related issues have to be carefully looked into before a final decision is taken. He said the offer is not what he is taking lightly.

Also confirming the story, one of the ACN governors said the choice of Adeola as Ribadu’s running mate is one of the intelligent decisions the party has taken at this time of the year.

He described Adeola as a detailed person who would naturally pair with a Ribadu, an administrative hand.

The governor said there is the need for a running mate, who would take up all the detailed assignments that the presidential job demands, especially in the quest for a better Nigeria.

He said the Ribadu-Adeola ticket would go down in history as one of the best ever produced in the country by any political party, adding, “We are in this to win and not to consider what some class of people would think about a Muslim-Muslim ticket.

“Even the political class is waiting to break away from the old order. They don’t just know how to go about it.”

The governor, who sounded excited about the development said Adeola is a respectable young man who has paid his dues in the development, of the country.

As co-founder and ex-managing director of GTBank, he said Adeola walked away when the ovation was loudest. He posited that Adeola had also handled many sensitive and vital assignments in the country and beyond.

“He has what it takes to rebuild this country. This country needs rebuilding and not rebranding like the PDP is doing. Nigeria needs root and branch reformation.

“So, we can’t have people who are part of the problem as part of the solution. It would not work. That is the difference between the PDP candidate who is though a nice guy, but is clueless,” he said.
