An example of two lamps, ......identical designs identical appearance .... But, different quality of finish; different build quality..

More often than not, low qualities will look ok to most people, until you put them side by side with a higher quality. Then you start to notice the differences.
So in the absence of a higher quality to compare with, it's very hard to tell

Authentic vs Counterfeir

Speaking on the proliferation of fake/counterfeit goods ...

bumped into some Fake Schneider MCB,

Identification marks:

- The counterfeit does not have the "Schneider Nigeria" sticker on it, "yet" ( The stickers are a measure Schneider introduced to help identify authentics , but that's sure to be copied soon enough).

- The "Merlin Gerin" inscription on the counterfeit is just an "insert" , and isn't engraved on the actual body of the MCB as seen in the authentic.

- The MCBs are made in Hungary, and not Bulgaria

These differences will vary for individual Schneider products. and will also differ from counterfeit to counterfeit

ABB doesn't do any Low Voltage product manufacturing in Britain. It is also not a British brand. ABB is Swedish.

Original ABB boards have enclosures predominantly made in Egypt and India. While most of the MCBs are made in Germany.

Unfortunately you have the exact same inscriptions as seen on the authentic product replicated on the counterfeits ( made in germany , made i Egypt etc).
Don't buy an ABB board here that is described as "Made in England" its a ruse.
