for the first time in a long time, I'm starting to really worry, 400 to 1 is no joke...... no joke
it's still unfathomable how the parallel market price can double the official rate.

i assume you're referring to the likes of the below .
in my humble opinion the shaded ones are easier on the eyes, there's something just cool and pleasing about that uniform glow. they are also a lil kinder on the pocket.
the choice is ultimately yours tho.

I am trying to compare those with the attached sir

No sir , the lamps are turned off easier to get a clearer picture that way. these are whiter and brighter than the typical energy saving lamps, I'll try and post a pic of some lit up
peaceland:
General question sir,
is the gray colour the real output?. if yes how does that compares with the type that I can see the led bulbs?
thanks sir
PropertiesRe: WATCH THIS SPACE (Electrical Showcase & Review) by allCopacetic(op): 6:24pm On Feb 18, 2016
(1) depends on what kind of installation exactly; for DBs for instance, use of cable ties, a plum, careful planning and arrangement/ lining of cables within the board etc make a big difference. for the most part, skill, aptitude, experience, patience and of cos remuneration determine the quality of end result with any given artisan.

(2) for starters the market is crazy right now, prices are way too daynamic ...almost daily changes, and the items are too numerous , which is why i took time to reference and number them prices will be provided for items of interest

(3) will be posting DBs over time. ABt, PowerCentre, ABB, LEGRAND all have decent amount of space. a little over 5" depth on the average

EgunMogaji:
Two questions:

1) In order to get good final aesthetic installation, do you have any suggestions for the artisans and

2) Will you be able to give us ideas on pricing.

Sorry one more question, I am interested in seeing distribution boxes also. I need a high occupancy DB but I suppose that I can use multi boxes. Preferably an intelligent DB also.

Thank you.

Adaptable boxes original vs susbstandard ...notice the logos
(usually, in the case of adaptable boxes the diff in qulaity doesnt matter too much to most electricians, because of their application)

PropertiesRe: 4 BEDROOM DUPLEX (A New Dimension To Nigerian Architecture) by allCopacetic:
You're absolutely right, that does happen; albeit not with authentics. which was why i ended my statement with a caveat ..."if you find good quality"
over 70% of the pvc knockout boxes in the market are the substandard kind (imported by different people and made to different standards) and most pose the challenges you just described . alota suppliers cant tell the difference, some simply dont care, others will just rather sell the cheaper, substandard alternative and make more profit.

Please permit me to derail slightly for the benefit of those to whom this information might be helpful, I'll do a quick contrasting.

At a quick glance you should be able to tell them apart from the following:

1. Logo- in original dignity conduiting products including pattresses, adaptable boxes, lighting boxes etc you will never find any rectangular imprint around the logo (see pictures)

2. Overall quality of finish- generally the original is always of considerably neater finish. colour of plastic and texture also differ. but this might not be noticeable to a newbie if you're not making a side by side comparison.

3. Embedded nut/ thread hole in the boxes are usually made of a shiny, gold-coloured (not brass) material

cc aventures

skimanski:
The screw Portions on those PVC Boxes do not last, the break off some times making the Socket and switch Installation a bit messed up after Installation, resulting it shaky wall switch and sockets.

fantastic job chief. more power
wondering why your electrical guy opted for galvanized boxes
p.v.c boxes are generally a better alternative, especially considering the location. As long as u find good quality.

PropertiesRe: ABB Distribution Board And Schneider Distribution Board Our Choice by allCopacetic: 2:32am On Jan 28, 2016
SMART Distribution boards are manufactured in china (doesn't mean they are substandard or low quality, the quality is quite reasonable) but ABt (New Series) would be a better choice
Havells and Hausstrom on the other hand are made in India like topsy said.
you'd be better off going with the later (ABt/Havells/Hausstrom/standard) etc if you cant afford the likes of ABB/Legrand/Schneider
Akpuoru:
Hi Topsy, Do you know about SMART, HAVEL DBs. Am told smart is OK since it is a new product with no imitation for now. Others they claim have many counterfeits. Am in PH.

PoliticsRe: How Abubakar Audu's Sons Serially Raped A Young Girl Years Back. by allCopacetic: 1:58pm On Nov 27, 2015
Ghost01:
And how many cases like that have you seen in Nigeria?
Besides, how can she be that dumb at 17? Her parents should be flogged in public! Someone raped (or is it fukked) her so hard she fell in love with him. And she kept going to the culprit's house for more raping/fukking. She has her faults and it's time she faced them.
As for the "raper" (or is it fukker) who, at 25, didn't see anything wrong in 'touching' and 'fukking' a 17-year-old girl, his parents should also be lashed!
All of them screwed up! But, in this case, it's a morality issue, not a legal one.

Sugabelly is a pathological liar... Do not attack anyone who doesn't believe the whole bs story... Someone that said she had 406 in jamb, created a website by 9,earned 300k/month during service, forgot 200k in her purse.. But is selling fone cases on twitter. Pffffftttt!
Abimbolaile:
Yes she did...she wanted it...pls...as a victim of rape myself...somebody should not come n cook up stories..you dont get treated that way the first time and still go back...we are not fools na abeg.was she held hostage...did all her family die? was she a beggar with no one? does she sleep in garages...how does she leave home to do all these things...
Naija n drama
Abimbolaile:
Please grow up..we have seen the babe's lies....while i dont condone rape at any rate..in Nigeria we have 15 yr olds getting married in that same north..so dont say "séx with a minor (-18) in Nigeria is considered as rapé" it just doesnt work that way...did they threaten to kill her? she kept going back for all the goddies...luxury cars and all and she is complaining of being raped...please onto the next one....Niaja and drama.
shona2487:
With all the exaggerated tweets frm her twitter acct, one can easily deduce that the lady hs got some loosed nuts in her head BUT the fact is that, having a rough childhood nd teenage life can f*ck u up REALLY BAD. Most kids frm able homes proceed to college after high school,so it's obvious she wanted to work and earn some money b4 proceeding nd this makes it clear tht her parents were not financially able.working with and getting close to a governor's son cld denifinely sweep ur brain off its rail at that age, a 17yr old frm a poor background wld fall head over heels in obsession or infatuation with whoever provides for her needs. The things she went thru in d hands of those guys still happens to adult these days especially ladies, when their lives depend on d provision of a guy(usually happns abroad). Sugarbelly obviously was a greedy nd confused Teenager BUT the fact is, she was a teenager, a minor and those guys had no right whatsoever to treat her that way. Babies love to play with dirt,do we throw them into it because of that? If the young one was being foolish, the adult should have @least shown some common sense.
My heart bleeds at the idiocy and ignorance reflected in some responses.
