For declaring the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Ibrahim Idris, unfit to run for public office, a Lagos-based lawyer, Mr. Debo Adeleke, has filed a suit against the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, and others before a Federal High Court. The Senate had declared Idris ‘’unfit to hold position in and outside Nigeria and an enemy of democracy’’ over his failure to appear before it. Joined as co-respondents in the suit are the Senate of National Assembly and Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, as the first and third respondents, respectively. The applicant in the suit is seeking an order of court declaring that the National Assembly, Saraki and Ekweremadu are not courts of law, hence lack the jurisdiction and vires to declare the Police boss a persona non grata and unfit to hold public office within and outside Nigeria and as an enemy of democracy. The lawyer is also praying for an order to declare that the power of the Senate of National Assembly to invite a public officer under its power of investigation in Section 88 of 1999 Constitution (as amended), is limited and it is only to enable it to make laws with respect to any matter within its legislative competence and correct and defect in the existing laws; And to expose corruption, inefficiency or waste in execution or administration of laws within its legislative competence and in the disbursement or administration of funds appropriated by it. He added that the invitation of Idris over the arrest and arraignment of Senator Dino Melaye was subjudice and undue interference with Police constitutional power of investigation, arrest and arraignment of suspects. In his 27-paragraph affidavit in support of the originating summon, Adeleke averred that he instituted the suit to defend and uphold the sanctity of the Constitu-tion of Federal Republic of Nigeria, noting that it is of public interest.

The Presiding Bishop of Divine Seed of God Chapel Ministries, Prophet Wale Olagunju is known for his predictions. The man of Godin the heat of former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s romance with President Muhammadu Buhari had predicted that a serious fight would break out between the two leaders, a forecast that failed to come to fulfillment until recently. In an interview with Daily Sun, the prophet provided insight into the 2019 general elections and other issues of national importance. Excerpt: It would be recalled that a national newspaper criticized your prediction of January 1, 2017 that there was going to be a serious fight between incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari and former President Olusegun Obasanjo as a failed prophecy. Now with the turn of event, how do you react to the write up? Well, I have written a letter to the editor and they are yet to reply. When you look at the prophecy in question, I did not indicate a date. When you talk about prophecy, it can come to fulfillment anytime and that is why we are witnessing what we are witnessing today. The writer wrote that Obasanjo did not write any acerbic letter, not quite long after, the ex-President wrote an acerbic letter and here we are today the incumbent is probing Obasanjo’s power project, so there is serious fight now between the duo. That is a public affirmation of the prophecy. For me, I have filed my case in the court of the Almighty God who rules and judges the affairs of men. How can someone criticize and condemn the words of the Almighty on which He places more honour than even His name. They have committed a serious sin against the Almighty. The case is presently in the court of the Almighty that rules and judges in righteousness. I pity the writer and those behind the publication. Now that the Federal Government has threatened to commence a probe of former President Obasanjo’s £16 billion power project, what has the Lord told you would be the result of the fight by these two elephants? Yes, we have been hearing about probes in this country. I don’t think any reasonable thing would come out of it. What informed the probe was that Obasanjo is no more supporting Buhari. If Buhari means business, let him probe all past leaders. Today, if you criticise President Buhari, you are in for it. If Buhari is no more probing Jonathan, why must he probe Obasanjo? Why did he single out Obasanjo, simply because the Ota man is no more supporting him? President Buhari’s intention to run for second term in the 2019 is no more news. Does the incumbent have any divine backing to emerge winner? In your 2018 prophecy you claimed that God told you that Chief Olusegun Obasanjo would not only forgive Atiku but that he would also throw his weight behind him in his bid for the Presidency. Considering the present political trend, are you sure this is still going to happen? Yes, as Almighty God who knows the heart of man lives, Obasanjo will forgive and support Atiku for the presidency. And Atiku will defeat Buhari come 2019 Presidential Election. Did you read The Sun Newspaper publication of May 27, 2018, where General Jemibewon, in an interview, vowed to stake his neck in support of Atiku’s bid for the Presidency? So, notable Nigerians would support and root for Atiku come 2019. I am not campaigning for Atiku, whatever comes out of my mouth is based on revelation that I received from God. To me, it is idiotic and stupid for anybody to say I have collected Ghana-Must-Go from Atiku. Let us wait till 2019 and see. https://candytv.com.ng/2018/06/17/2019-election-prophet-reveals-what-god-told-him-about-buhari-and-atiku/

The Anglican Archbishop of Enugu Ecclesiastical Province and Bishop of Enugu Diocese, His Grace, Rev. Emmanuel Chukwuma, has said that President Muhammadu Buhari has signed the verdict of exit from office in 2019. He said Buhari did this when he signed the Not-Too-Young-To-Run bill in May. In an interview with the Sun, the Bishop also disclosed that he is leading a protest to shut down Abuja for two days over the security situation in the country. According to him, “The president has signed a verdict of exit from power. His signing of the bill is a verdict of exit for him, but he doesn’t know. The law should serve as a signal to him that it’s time for youths to take over. “Thirty-five years ago, he made a statement that youths are the leaders of tomorrow. But 35 years after, he is still there. So, when will the youths be leaders of tomorrow? The youths are eager to lead so they should be empowered and given the opportunity now to also do their best to make Nigeria what it should be. “We are tired of these old people; most of these people who are in government now, including the Senate are over 70 or almost 70. Most of them had been in government before and are expired. “As far as I am concerned, they should go and rest and allow younger Nigerians to take charge in this digital era. We need new people with new spirit to lead a new Nigeria. Nigeria deserves a new spirit now and I am happy some young people are coming up. “Nigerians should begin to take the opportunity of the signing of the bill to exit these elderly people out of power; they can remain as consultants and advisers. I think that if he (Buhari) loves himself, he should not yield to the voice of the cabal that is asking him to continue because they are benefiting from him. “God has given him the grace to have better health now; he should go back to his village and enjoy what God has given to him because nobody knows tomorrow. There are complaints and conspiracies all over the place to make sure he does not continue.” On security challenges in Nigeria, the cleric called for the removal of Service Chiefs. “These people have outlived their security intelligence acumen because right now, I can’t see any performance from them. They are just there acquiring money; I must tell you that the Service Chiefs are just acquiring money”, Chukwuma added. “The thing is that there is selective negligence and there is nothing they are doing at all. I am going to call out all church leaders and Christians for a two-day protest that will shut down the country. Markets will be shut and there will be no work. “Christians will sit down in their homes to pray and cry unto God to fight our battle. We are going to make sure that we close down everything in this nation for one or two days before the end of the year. We cannot continue to witness these kinds of kidnappings and killings of men of God. Whatever affects any church affects all of us.” https://candytv.com.ng/2018/06/17/president-buhari-has-signed-to-leave-office-rev-chukwuma/

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has disclosed that the federal government has generated up to $70 billion from Information Technology investments. Osinbajo while inaugurating the Technology and Creativity of the Nigerian Industrial Promotion and Competitiveness Advisory Council at a the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja, expressed confidence that technology and creative sectors had come to centrestage in Nigeria’s economy, given their actual and potential contributions to growth, job creation and entrepreneurship. He said though Nigeria still ranked 134 in the ICT development sector, with the creative sector contributing just over 1.4% to Gross Domestic Product, the contribution of the technology and creative sectors is beyond macroeconomic benefits, but encompasses empowering the young working population and preparing them for the digital future. Osinbajo explained that the Advisory Group was placed within the Industrial Policy and Competitiveness Advisory Council because the council functions in a very dynamic, inclusive and result-oriented way. He said the Advisory Group would enable stakeholders to contribute directly to policy formulation, articulation and the design of the technology and creative sectors as well as bring together existing policies and ongoing work at the ministerial level to the presidential level. “I Am Not Worth My World-Record €222 Million Transfer Fee” – Neymar Brazilian superstar forward says he is ‘not proud’ of his world-record transfer fees. Neymar has admitted he is not worth the world-record £200million Paris Saint- Germain paid for him. The French giants triggered the 26-year-old Brazilian star’s €222million release clause to sign him from Barcelona last summer. Asked about his record move, Neymar said: “I’m not proud of the transfer fee, nor of the fact I’m the most expensive player ever. “That’s just money and nothing else. I cannot help it. Personally, I would have paid less for myself. “I’m proud that I’ve achieved my childhood goal. That was, and is, most important to me. As a player, you always have to show who you are and assert yourself. “Just referring to the transfer fee does not help you and says nothing about how good you really are.” The Brazilian superstar has been a sensation in Paris. He scored 28 goals in 30 appearances for PSG and was crowned the Ligue 1 Player of the Year. https://candytv.com.ng/2018/06/14/russia-bans-super-eagles-supporters-from-bringing-live-chicken-into-stadium/ Russian government has rejected request by supporters of the Super Eagles of Nigeria to bring in live chickens into the Kaliningrad Stadium. The Kaliningrad Stadium is the venue of Super Eagles’ World Cup opener against Croatia. The match is slated for Saturday 8pm. The Supporters believe that live chicken painted in green and white, brings goodluck for their team. Speaking about the request by the Nigerian supporters, Russian Minister of Culture and Tourism, Andrei Ernak, told interfax.ru that there is no way the supporters from West Africa would be allowed into the stadium with live chickens. Ernak said, ”Our information center FM-2018 receives a lot of various questions. “So, fans from Nigeria asked whether it is possible to go to the stadium with a chicken. This is their symbol, citizens are seen with them in all matches. “We told them that it’s by no means possible to come with a live chicken. ”But if the Nigerians are rooting for their team in other places, we will of course advise them where the chicken can be bought. The Nigerian supporters made the same request 8 years ago in South Africa. Nigeria fans were turned away from Ellis Park in Johannesburg after demanding to take chickens, painted green into the stadium where the team lost 1-0 to Argentina.

Proposals are beautiful, absolutely. There’s almostnothing as romantic as a man going down on one knee, presenting you a ring, looking you in the eye and asking you to be his wife.Sometimes there are flowers and music and people watching with admiration. The moment can be so beautifulyou’d forget to do the right thing and then make decisions that’d change your future in ways you never bargained for. Before you agree to be a man’s wife and do the forever journey with him, here are important things you needto know. 1. You deserve nothing less than the bestDon’t ever believe you should manage a man that isn’t entirely what you want. Don’t ever agree that men are scarce and marriage defines a woman. Don’t ever believe you deserve anything less than the best. You may think for instance, that you can’t have a man who will be faithful and caringand responsible at the same time and as such decide to settle with one who is faithful and caring but not responsible. I don’t advice this.In looking for the best which you deserve, however, know that you best make yourself fit for it.You want the best, the question is, ‘Will the best want you?’. You can’t be loving for a graduate and havejustbirth certificate. You can not want a man whois faithful and be a serial cheat.Yes, you deserve the best but make yourself fit for the best which you deserve. 2. You can say ‘No’Marriage is beautiful but only so when it’s with the right person. No matter how long you both have been together, what you haveshared, what he has done for you and even what people think, you can say ‘no’ to his proposal if you want or if you have doubts. That he asked you doesn’t be you should say ‘yes’. That your family and friends think he’s right doesn’t mean you should say ‘yes’.You should only say yes because you want to spend the rest of your life with him and nothing less. If that’snot how you feel or you aren’t ready yet, politely rejecthis proposal.Your happiness is everything, do not take it for granted. 3. There is no guarantee he will changeit’s not true that a man can not change. We can do anything we put our minds to. He can stop smoking. He can stop Cheat!ng. He can stop spending carelessly. He can stop checking other women out when you are there. He can stop being disrespectful. He can change to whatever but I tell you baby girl, there is no guarantee. If it is something you can’t deal with, don’t agree to marry him hoping he will change. There are changes he will and there are chances he won’t. Marriage is nota gamble. If there is something about him you can not deal with, please think again. 4. Be ready to give what you expectIt takes two to be married, never forget. While you think of all you want in a marriage, know that there are things he wants too. Think of his needs and be ready to give what you expect.Be ready to show care too, be ready to spend time withthe family too, be ready to communicate too, be readyto show love and affection too, be ready to do everything you expect in a relationship. Marriage is not 70:30 or 60:40 or 10:90 or anything unequal. Marriage is 50:50.It’s highly important too to understand that you too should be involved in the finances. You too should spend. It’s ridiculous to hear people say that the man’smoney is for the family and the woman’s money is forher. To think that these are the same people that want equality. Don’t get me wrong, we are not talking equality or feminism or any ofthat now. We are talking what is right and whatwill make your marriage as beautiful as it should be. In marriage give everything you expect to be given. 5. Marriage isn’t always foreverIn as much as we do not hope for this, it’s important tohave it in mind. Unlike what we were told as kids andstill are told, marriage can be ended when need be.Some women are told by their parents, ‘Once you leavemy house, never return. If you have problems with your husband, sort it out with him. Never ever leave him. Do not bring shame to us.’ Sadly, this has ruined a lot of lives. If things aren’t working and you both have tried to resolve it but it isn’t working, for your health – mentally especially- you should annul the union.Instead of being unhappy, work out. You have the option of divorce, know this. https://candytv.com.ng/2018/04/13/5-things-you-should-know-before-you-say-yes-to-his-marriage-proposal/

Part 1 Years Earlier… Benue State, Nigeria “I need Star! Last card!” Ada said as held her cards close to her chest and watched the other players closely to see if any of them had the requested card, she locked gaze with Ebuka who was the person after her. Looking at his cards thoroughly and squeezing his face in annoyance stretched his hands to get a new card from a stack of cards. “I go market” he said. Grace was next in line, after staring at her cards as if she could change them she also picked a new card “I go market” she said. Precious who was the last person to play smiled at Ada and said “pick two” as she placed a star card with the number two on it. Ada picked two cards as was ordered and winced when she saw she picked two cards with the number fourteen written on them, adding this to her card which was a star and had the number eight on it, she was sure to lose if anybody should win the game now, since she picked two cards, she automatically missed a turn and Ebuka without wasting time placed a card with the cross sign printed on it and the number two “you ma pick two” he said with a grin to Grace who did as she was instructed. Precious turned to Ada “pick two” she said as she place a card with the ball sign and had the number two on it, Ada reached out for the cards and almost cried when she discovered she picked two Whots cards that each had the number twenty on them. There was no way she was going to win this game she thought. Ebuka did not have any card that rhymed so he picked another card from the general market. Grace followed suit. Ada’s heart was racing, maybe she could still win after all, she turned to Precious who like the others got a new card. Smiling, she dropped her card of ball that had the number fourteen on it. “Oya general market everybody.” They all picked a card and she played another card of fourteen but this time with a triangle shape on it. “Another general market” she said and they all got another card. She played one of the cards with the number twenty on it. “I need star” she said smiling at everyone. Ebuka played a card with the star sign but with the number one on it. “Hold on” he said to Grace. Precious looked around and was grinning, she was about to play her card when the horn of a car distracted them, they turned to see that the driver was an unfamiliar face. He came out of his car and pointed at Ada. “Is your mother at home?” He asked. “Yes she is inside” she replied. It was secret to neither her nor her friends why different men came to find her mother every day. “Should I call her for you?” She asked politely. “No need for that” he replied and then dipping his hands into his pockets, he brought out some notes and handed to her. “Why don’t you and your friends go and buy something for yourselves. Your mum and I can settle ourselves” Looking at the money in her hands, she grinned at the nice stranger. “Thank you sir” and ran with her friends to the nearest kiosk to get some sweets. Since they knew that the stranger and her mother will be busy for a while, they decided to stroll to the river and watch people. The advantage of living in Wadata is the fact that the river Benue was not far from you. They walked through Wadata market and headed to the path where fishermen stood to mend their net or count their catch. Soon they were at the bank of the river watching all the activities going on. Ebuka spat into the water. “Why did you do that?” Asked Grace “I heard Mama Rose telling her children that if you spit at the bank you will see tiny fishes in the water” “That’s a big lie” Precious said as she also spat into the water and the little fishes came rushing. “It’s just by luck that it happened this time” she continued as everyone was looking at her. “I am hungry, Ada let’s go and buy fish with the remaining change and the last person to reach will have the smallest share.” They all started running even before she could complete her sentence. Soon they were munching on fried fish and heading back to their house. They all lived in the same compound that consisted of single rooms while the tenants shared a bathroom and toilet. Cooking was done in front of your room since no kitchen was made for them. All the tenants were single mothers who made a living by prostitution and because of this their children were often left to their own devices whenever their mothers were entertaining guests. Sometimes when they were bored, they peeped through the windows to see what was going inside and they often practiced what they saw amongst themselves whenever they were alone and since Ebuka was the only male amongst their clique, they shared him. “It seems Mr. Sweet is still around, his car is still outside” Ebuka pointed out. “What should we do now?” Grace asked since they had nowhere else to go. All the other mums went out to visit customers and at such, they had to remain outside until their mothers returned and opened the door for them. “Let’s just seat under the tree” Precious suggested and they did. “When I go to America I will build a big mansion that will have plenty rooms” Ada said while the others burst into laughter. “What’s funny with what I said?” She asked staring at them like they were crazy. “You are always talking of America, how will you get there?” Ebuka asked. “The same way every other person does, you guys should watch and see. I will soon leave all of you here in Nigeria” she replied. “Fine we hear you madam America” Grace said. “You think I am joking? Fine, let’s bet” she fired back as she stretched her pinky. “If all of you are not afraid, let’s bet” They ignored her and burst into another round of laughter. She was so furious at them, she burst into tears. “We are not laughing at you na, we are just playing with you.” Precious said as she wrapped her arms around her as she continued to sob. “Oya stop crying. You know what? Stop crying and I will tell you how you can go to America.” Immediately the tears dried up and she looked up. “How?” She demanded. “I don’t really know… but you know Julie right? That girl that is very fat and don’t know how to read in class?” Everyone chuckled at her description of Julie. “Well her brother who lives in America is around, we can go and ask him after school tomorrow how you can travel to America.” That did the trick as a smile appeared on Ada’s face. At that moment the man who gave them money for sweets stepped out, walked into his car and drove off without uttering a word. They rolled their eyes and started laughing. Ada couldn’t concentrate on what the teacher was saying. It was the last class for the day and soon they will accompany Julie home to meet her brother. She was so excited, she was smiling to herself. “What’s so funny that’s making you to smile?” The teacher asked with a cane pointing at her. That brought her back to reality. “Sorry ma” she replied and dropped her gaze to her desk. Once the final bell rang, she was so excited she almost leap out of her chair. Moses was stretched out on the couch thinking about his next steps. He needed to tread carefully. This was the first time he was being given such a sensitive job. Though he must admit, it has been a long time coming and he knows for a fact that he had worked his Buttocks out to get where he was right now. Like everybody, he had wanted to go overseas for greener pastures but to no avail. He ended up in Lagos, being a pick pocket and doing other side jobs to make ends meet. It was not until he picked the pocket of the wrong man that he realized how risky that job was. To Be Continued. https://candytv.com.ng/2018/04/13/must-read-fierce-18-episode-1/
