Technology Market / Google Launched New App Called Shoelace - Alltechng.com News by AllTechNG: 10:50pm On Jul 12, 2019
All Tech NG

Google launched new app called Shoelace. Testing the service just months after shutting down Google+.

The company’s latest effort aims to connect users based on shared interests and proximity, letting them browse and add events to a curated list of local activities.

Shoelace is currently available by invitation only to New York City residents on iOS and Android, as Google tests different features. However, the company said its goal is to offer the app in cities across the US.

Google billed the service as a way for users to meet like-minded people nearby, offering its own spin on a trend toward location- and interest-based features.

Its move to introduce a new social networking app comes just months after the company scrapped its Google+ platform in April. Initially launched in 2011, it failed to gain traction against rivals such as Facebook and Twitter.

Phones / How Google Camera Will Automatically Take A Picture While Kissing- Alltechng.com by AllTechNG: 11:16am On Apr 17, 2019
All Tech News

Photobooth mode in Google Camera version 6.2 has learned how to automatically detect a kiss in the frame and take a picture. This is possible thanks to machine learning algorithms and a dual front-facing camera in the Google Pixel 3 and 3 XL.

Photobooth is designed to help make the perfect picture: the camera itself photographs at the time of a smile, laughter, “duck face”, puffed out cheeks or the best frame, even if the user makes a group selfie. Now the mode automatically recognizes and kiss.

Science/Technology / Google Unveils New Open Platform - Www.alltechng.com by AllTechNG: 4:56pm On Apr 10, 2019
All Tech News

Google unveils new open platform… Base on report as Google introduced a new open platform called “Anthos” to run and manage apps from anywhere.

Based on the Cloud Services Platform that Google announced in 2018, “Anthos” lets users run applications on existing on-premise hardware investments or in the Public Cloud.

“Anthos not only allows customers to deploy Google Cloud in their own data centres but also gives them the flexibility to build, run and manage their workloads within their data centre, on Google Cloud, or other cloud providers (Multi-Cloud), without making any changes,” said Thomas Kurian, CEO, Google Cloud.

“Anthos” will also let users manage workloads running on third-party clouds like Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure.
“We are excited that partners including Cisco, Dell, HP, Intel, Lenovo and VMware are offering joint solutions with us,” Kurian told the gathering at the “Google Cloud Next” event here on Tuesday.

Google also announced “Anthos Migrate” in beta, which auto-migrates virtual machines (VMs) from on-premises, or other clouds, directly into containers in Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) with minimal effort.

“Google Cloud’s software-based approach for managing hybrid environments provided us an innovative, differentiated solution that was able to be deployed quickly for our customers,” said Darryl West, Group CIO, HSBC.

Phones / Samsung Galaxy A80 Hands-on - All Tech News by AllTechNG: 4:42pm On Apr 10, 2019
All Tech News

Samsung has launched its newest addition to the Galaxy A-series line up — the Galaxy A70 and A80. This time though, I tried out the latter and here are my initial thoughts on this device.

Unlike its siblings, the Galaxy A80 takes its design to another level with its great and premium look. Instead of the Glasstic back panel, we get a 3D glass — yes it’s not a glossy plastic anymore — along with a metal frame covering the device. Comparing it with the Galaxy A70, this gives a more professional, yet stylish vibe which is always a plus.

As you’ve noticed, its front panel doesn’t have a visible front camera thanks to its motorized sliding component (visibly separated from the body) that houses the rotating 48MP + 8MP + 3D Depth sensing cameras. The twist, however, is that these lenses serve both as the front and the rear shooters. This kind of set up is unique, and you won’t find anything like it with the smartphone releases nowadays.

Science/Technology / Whatsapp To Get Its Own Ipad App - Www.alltechng.com by AllTechNG: 7:07pm On Apr 09, 2019
All Tech News

WhatsApp is one of the world’s most popular messaging apps. More than 1 billion people use it every single day. But until now it’s not been available on the iPad without using a WhatsApp Web workaround.

That may be about to change, however, as WhatsApp is reportedly working on an official iPad app. It’s about time!

It suggests that the WhatsApp on iPad app will boast largely the same features as the iPhone version of the app. However, it will include a redesigned interface for iPad. It will also supposedly take advantage of the iPad’s bigger display to include a split chat view, which lets you monitor multiple chats at the same time.

There’s no word on exactly when this will hit, but it could be as soon as the next WhatsApp update. Either way, as big WhatsApp users, it’s definitely something we’d like to see — and something that’s been MIA for way too long.

WhatsApp for business
2019 has been a busy one for WhatsApp so far. Earlier this month, WhatsApp Business for iOS began its worldwide rollout. The new app, which allows businesses to connect with their customers in an instant, is the latest service offered by the company.

Science/Technology / How Whatsapp Tests Dark Theme For Android by AllTechNG: 2:41pm On Mar 27, 2019

How Whatsapp tests dark theme for android…

Current tech report disclose how the popular WhatsApp messenger started testing a dark theme with the release of the latest update 2.19.82 for Android. The portal Wabetainfo paid attention to this.

Although the developers were able to activate the dark mode, it is still inaccessible to ordinary users. The update shows how the new theme looks in the settings menu.

According to the source, the dark mode WhatsApp does not use black color, so the function is not intended for smartphones with OLED displays. Instead, dark gray shades are used.

Phones / Could Iphones Face A Ban by AllTechNG: 2:10pm On Mar 27, 2019
All Tech News

The real fact and big question is could iPhones face a ban?, after winning the first jury trial against Apple in San Diego earlier this month, Qualcomm has lodged two legal shots at Apple regarding infringements on its patents. As a result, a US Trade judge has recommended a ban on some iPhone models after Apple was found violating a Qualcomm patent.

Meanwhile the US International Trade Commission on Tuesday said Apple has infringed a patent from Qualcomm while invalidating another Qualcomm patent regarding a battery-saving feature. International Trade Commission Judge MaryJoan McNamara recommended a ban on import of some iPhone models, although McNamara’s rulings are still to be reviewed by the ITC.

In the case presented before McNamara, Qualcomm argued that iPhones with Intel chipsets have infringed two patents regarding the speed and quality of data while one was related to a power-saving feature. The case was to seed an order that would ban Apple from importing iPhones. While it’s unclear which of the iPhones will be banned in the process, it’s believed that the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 plus will be affected once the court finalises a ruling.

In a separate decision issued by the ITC, Qualcomm’s complaints about the battery-saving patent were rejected. It’s believed that this could also have affected the defeat in the iPhone ban that Apple is expected to witness. The commission is expected to conclude the full investigation by July this year.

Earlier this month, Qualcomm won the first jury trial at the San Diego Federal Court against Apple as it proved that the Cupertino company had infringed three of its patents without paying a dime. The American chipmaker will now be paid $31.6 million in damages by Apple which translates to $1.41 for every iPhone sold since July 2017. The recent rulings are a part of the two-year feud between these two companies after Qualcomm claimed that the Cupertino company infringed three of its patents that lead to the iPhone’s market success.

Computers / How To Know If Someone Was Snooping On Your PC - All Tech News by AllTechNG: 1:45pm On Mar 23, 2019
All Tech NG

You can take precautions against others using your PC, but sometimes, you don’t think it’s necessary. You can trust your family and friends. And the people you work with won’t snoop on your online activities.

Yet things aren’t right. Your laptop isn’t where you left. Your desk is a mess.
Has someone secretly used your PC? What have they been looking at? Nearly everything you do leaves some kind of trace on a computer. You just need to know where to go in order to find that evidence.

Knowing where to start can drastically reduce the amount of time it takes to find the culprit. Here’s how you can tell if someone logged into your computer without your permission.

1. Check Recent Activities

You should already know how to look at recently opened files. Windows introduced this as an easy way to go back to whatever you’ve been working on or looking at. It’s especially handy if you’re adding an attachment to an email or uploading to a blog. But you can also use this feature to check if someone else has been accessing your files.

Just head to the File Explorer by either opening Documents, This PC, or pressing Windows key + E. At the top left of the menu, click on Quick access. You’ll be able to see what’s been opened, so look for anything you haven’t accessed yourself.

Alternatively, you can check files opened in individual apps. If you think someone’s snooped on a PowerPoint presentation you made, check Recent in that program.

2. Check Recently Modified Files
However, anyone can wipe recent activity from your machine. Just left click on Quick access > Options > Clear File Explorer History. If your recent activity has been deleted, this is at least a sign that someone has used your PC. But how can you tell what folders they’ve opened?

Navigate back to File Explorer then type “datemodified:” into the search field at the top right. You can refine by a date range. It’s probably most useful if you click on Today, but you can go back a whole year too.

You’ll see a list of files that have been accessed—as long as something was changed. Let’s hope you’re lucky enough that your PC automatically saved an item while the snooper was at work. Check the times listed and narrow down when you were away from your device.

3. Check Your Browser History
Okay, everyone knows you can easily delete your browsing history. But if someone used your PC in a hurry, they might’ve forgotten this step.

Google Chrome has the biggest market share, so it’s most likely that whoever went on your computer used that. Click on the vertical ellipsis in the top right corner then Historyand see if anything’s amiss.

Don’t rule out other browsers though. If your PC has Edge, go to the ellipsis then Favorites > History. You can use a similar method if you still have Internet Explorer installed. Firefox users should click on the menu, followed by History > Show All History.

4. Check Windows 10 Logon Events
You want to know if someone else has accessed your PC, but the simple methods are

Phones / Iphone 11 May “share” Energy With Airpods And Apple Watch by AllTechNG: 1:16pm On Mar 23, 2019
All Tech NG
The current report as gathered by Macotakara website report, the next-generation iPhone will include an equivalent of the Wireless PowerShare feature of the Samsung Galaxy S10. Gadgets can be charged from the body of the smartphone wirelessly.

Meanwhile, same report was already shared by the analyst Min-Chi Kuo in February. It is expected that the Apple Watch and AirPods case with support for wireless charging will be able to charge from the iPhone 11 (XI). It is possible that Apple will feed on the body of your smartphone in general any device.
In addition, the iPhone 11 comes with a USB Type-C cable for Lightning, while the port in the smartphone itself remains proprietary. This will allow you to use the 18-watt power adapter instead of the 5-watt power adapter to increase the charge replenishment rate.

The iPhone 11 is also expected to have an improved face recognition system and a frosted glass case, and one of the models is a triple main camera.

Computers / 2019 2-in-1 Best Laptops With Price by AllTechNG: 10:34am On Mar 19, 2019
All Tech NG

If you want a machine with the most versatility, then your best bet is to go with a 2-in-1 laptop. We’ve listed the best 2-in-1 laptops below and here are three quick things you need to keep in mind when shopping.

Bendback or Detachable?: A bendback 2-in-1 laptop, which has a screen that flips back 360 degrees, works far better in laptop mode and usually has greater endurance, a better keyboard and more ports. A Detachable 2-in-1 laptop has a screen that pops off, providing a better tablet experience.
Screen Resolution: While some cheaper models will have 1366 x 768 resolutions, try to get at least a 1920 x 1080 display.
Size: For the best balance between portability and usability, consider a 2-in-1 laptop with a 12 or 13-inch display and a weight less than 3.5 pounds. Smaller laptops are great for kids while 15 and 17-inch models provide lots of real estate for drawing or media viewing.

The 15-inch HP Spectre x360 made it on our list of the best 2-in-1 laptops.
Here is a full review of the HP Spectre x360, our new favorite 2-in-1 laptop.
We reviewed the HP EliteBook x360 1040 G5, a slim business laptop with an awesome keyboard.

Best Overall: HP Spectre x360

The HP Spectre x360 combines gorgeous aesthetics with loads of power and a couple of very useful features. There is a lot to love about the Spectre x360 but the first thing you’ll notice is the laptop’s marvelous chassis, which looks like a jewel with its chamfered corners and faceted edges. Complimenting the elegant design is a vivid 13.3-inch, 1080 display that has punchy, saturated colors.

On the inside, the Spectre x360’s Core i7-8565U CPU offers enough power to run demanding programs or browse dozens of webpages. To top it off, the Spectre x360 has an excellent keyboard and powerful speakers, despite its slim, 0.6-inch chassis.

Science/Technology / All Tech News- How To Choose The Best Ipad | Ipad, Ipad Air, Ipad Mini, Ipad Pro by AllTechNG: 10:16am On Mar 19, 2019
All Tech NG

Base on report, Apple has introduced new versions of the iPad Air and the iPad mini, plus it’s removed one of the iPad Pros. This leaves the lineup ranging from $329 to $999 for the just the base models, but it’s also made the buying decision a little more involved. AppleInsider explains how to balance getting the most features for your budget.

The last time Apple updated its iPads, it was easy. The company introduced the new iPad Pros, and if you were in the market for the most powerful, most expensive models, you had your answer. And equally if you didn’t need that power, or for some reason had other things to spend a thousand bucks on, you still had the iPad.

Strictly speaking you also had the iPad mini, but until the 2019 refresh, that was last updated in 2015. The smaller physical size was still good, though less compelling if you had an iPhone XS Max, but otherwise the specifications were so far behind the regular iPad that it wasn’t worth considering. It even looked as if there might never be an update to the iPad mini.

Now there has been a sizable update, though, and it’s come alongside a new iPad Air, so suddenly everything is different. Everything is substantially harder, too, as each available model has advantages and disadvantages over the other.

That said, Apple seemed to lose its knack for positioning MacBook models at specific price and specification points, but it’s back on track for the iPad. Whatever your budget and whatever your needs, there is now an iPad that fits in the sweet spot for you —if you compare them carefully.

Price conscious
If you just need an iPad and any will do, or if you have to buy very many of them for your work or school, the regular iPad, the sixth generation, is the cheapest at $329 for a 32GB Wi-Fi-only model.

You will be able to get it cheaper through education discounts, or if your company participates in an Employee Purchase Plan, but the saving will be in the order of a very few bucks. You will also at times be able to find this iPad in Apple’s refurb store but while always a good buy, you can never predict what models will be available, plus you can never get them in bulk.

Chart 1: comparing the basic details of the iPad lineup

Pricing is the regular iPad’s sole advantage, however. The screen is smaller than on all other iPads bar the mini, for instance, and it is also the slowest iPad in the range. When it’s your first iPad or you’re updating from a much older one, that speed won’t be an issue but it is marked when you use any other current model.

Phones / Report | The Apple Watch Saves Lives by AllTechNG: 7:41am On Mar 18, 2019
All Tech NG

A large study sponsored by Apple has revealed that the Apple Watch can detect an irregular heartbeat. 400,000 Apple Watch users were invited to take part in the study and the results were presented today in New Orleans at a meeting of the American College of Cardiology. 2,000 participants, or .5% of those wearing the smartwatch, received a notification about an irregular pulse. The 2,000 were sent a patch for their Apple Watch that included an electrocardiogram (ECG) sensor to help detect atrial fibrillation (AFib).

AFib, which is an irregular heartbeat, can lead to strokes, blood clots, heart failure and other serious issues. AFib contributes to 130,000 deaths a year in the U.S. The Apple Watch series 4 already includes an ECG monitor right out of the box, but the study was completed before this new variant of the timepiece was released. Returning to the study, about 33% of the 2,000 study participants who were flagged with an irregular pulse were told that they had AFib, according to the ECG patch that they were sent.

57% of the Apple Watch wearers in the study sought medical help when they received a warning about an irregular pulse. That number might surprise consumers since it means that 43% of Apple Watch wearers in the study ignored the warning.

Dr. Mitesh Patel, an assistant professor of medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine, noted that while the Apple Watch is good at detecting warning signs of heart disease, the watch needs to be combined with something that will motivate users to act on these warnings. In other words, receiving a warning without following up on it could prove fatal to the user.

When an Apple Watch wearer in the study received a notification of an irregular heart beat, the notification would ask the participant to schedule a telemedicine appointment with one of the doctors associated with the study.

At that point, the ECG patch would be sent to those receiving the notification, and was used to record the rhythm of their heart for up to one week.

Only 57% of study participants receiving a irregular pulse notification sought medical help
The researchers behind the study said that Doctors need to be careful when using data from consumer devices when treating patients. On the other hand, a Boston cardiologist named Dr.

Deepak Bhatt said that the study was very important because more people will be wearing wearable devices in the future.

“Atrial fibrillation is just the beginning, as this study opens the door to further research into wearable technologies and how they might be used to prevent disease before it strikes.”-Lloyd Minor, dean, Stanford School of Medicine

“The performance and accuracy we observed in this study provides important information as we seek to understand the potential impact of wearable technology on the health system.”- Dr. Marco Perez, co-principal investigator and associate professor of cardiovascular medicine, Stanford Medicine
Apple plans on making a big push into healthcare, and the Apple Watch is at the vanguard of this decision. While the series 4 model includes an ECG monitor along with the heart rate monitor that all Apple Watch models have, the company is working on a way for the Apple Watch to show a user’s blood glucose reading without a needle stick.

This reading is used by diabetics to determine how much insulin they need to inject to bring their blood sugars down to a normal level. Currently, diabetics need to draw blood and place a drop of it on a test strip inserted into a glucometer to get a reading.

This test is done several times a day.

If Apple succeeds in producing a non-invasive blood glucose test for the Apple Watch, this alone could help Apple stay on top of the smartwatch market.

It will not just be about increasing the connection speed, as this new generation of technology will change the way people use the internet and every connected device. In the mobile devices sector, chipmakers have already released their first 5G modems for mobile phones. Just look at the Snapdragon X50 by Qualcomm or the Balong 5000 recently released by Huawei. But we are yet to see a 5G-enabled device in the market. Here, you will find all the 5G-ready phones that are already official as well as every 5G phone that is actually expected to debut in 2019.

Current tech update reaching us disclose that Xiaomi‘s founder and CEO Lei Jun spoke in an event recently in China where he reportedly reeled out some of the plans the tech giant has in the works. Lei Jun spoke on a number of key issues such as 5G, artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of things (IoT). Among other things, Lei Jun stated that 5G+AI+IoT will constitute the future super Internet and that was the strategic direction of Xiaomi’s AioT. The CEO is reported to have said that Xiaomi is looking to pioneer the trend of offering 18 months warranty for smartphones instead of 12 months.
The Redmi Note 7 is the first Xiaomi model to have 18 months warranty instead of 12 months. Xiaomi had announced during the launch of the device in January that buyers will get 18 months warranty for the model despite the solid build. The tech giant is now planning to make it a standard for its new smartphones. In this regard, the company’s quality assurance committee will pilot an 18-month quality assurance system in the phone industry this year.

The announcement was part of Xiaomi’s “2019 Quality Service Year” which was unveiled during the Redmi launch conference in January. During the conference, Xiaomi Group’s VP and chairman of the quality committee, Yan Kesheng, hinted that the company will not only pay attention to the quality of the product but also to the entire life cycle of the product, and the quality of service provided to users in particular.

He further stated that the improvement of service quality was a never-ending thing aimed at improving the user experience.

Science/Technology / All Tech News | Apple Announce Worldwide Developers Conference Date by AllTechNG: 2:14pm On Mar 16, 2019

On 3 June: Apple will show off iOS 13 and macOS 10.15

Finally apple has open up that this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) will kick off on 3 June.

The event, which will take place at the McEnery Convention Centre in San Jose between 3-7 June, features the tagline “write code, blow minds”, which tells us absolutely nothing – nor does its accompanying image of a, er, robot’s head exploding (above).

Still, as with every WWDC, we can expect Apple to show off the next-generation versions of iOS, macOS, tvOS, watchOS during its keynote on the first day of the conference.

According to early rumours, iOS 13, set to debut on Apple‘s so-called iPhone 11 lineup, will bring with it support for cross-platform apps, a system-wide dark mode, improvements to Apple’s CarPlay service and new iPad-specific features including the ability to tab through multiple versions of a single app like pages in a web browser.

The OS will likely also ship with Apple’s TV and news subscription services baked-in, with both services set to be unveiled on 25 March.

Of course, WWDC will also hold a number of technical sessions and hands-on labs, where developers can work with Apple engineers to build apps for the firm’s next-gen OSes.

“WWDC is Apple’s biggest event of the year. It brings thousands of the most creative and dedicated developers from around the world together with over a thousand Apple engineers to learn about our latest platform innovations and to connect as a community,” said Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.

“Our developers are incredibly passionate about creating the next generation of mind-blowing experiences for the world through apps. We can’t wait to get together with them and share what’s next.”

Developers can register for WWDC now until 20 March, but doing so doesn’t mean you’ll be able to attend; Apple instead offers tickets by “random selection.” If you do get picked, a ticket will set you back for $1,599.

Technology Market / Facebook Starts Roll-out Of Dedicated Gaming Tab On App - All Tech News by AllTechNG: 12:03am On Mar 16, 2019
All Tech News

Social networking giant Facebook has begun the initial roll-out of a dedicated gaming tab as part of the app‘s main navigation.

Facebook claims that over 700 million people play games, watch gaming videos or engage in gaming groups on the platform and the gaming tab will help them connect with each other.

“After clicking on the gaming tab, there will be a feed of content that points to instant games you can play with friends; videos to watch from top streamers, sports organisations and game publishers; and updates from your various gaming groups,” the report said.

The new “Facebook Gaming” tab is built on the company’s experimental gaming hub — Fb. — which was launched last year as a standalone mobile app.

On Fb., gamers were able to attract people with the aid of Facebook‘s personalised recommendations based on users’ activity and then monetise those viewers through a virtual tipping mechanism.

“As a top-level navigation item, Facebook‘s new gaming tab will now further extend the gaming hub’s reach,” the report added.

Facebook is continuing its tests on mobile with a standalone (rebranded) Facebook Gaming app on Android. The company is rolling out the gaming tab and intends to expand it over time to more enthusiasts across the network.

In September last year, Google-owned video sharing platform YouTube placed its gaming hub right on the app home page.

Have it in mind that that smartphones in your hand can help order pizzas, hail cabs, and even detect heartbeats, so you’d think it’d be easy to record a simple phone call. Sadly, that’s not the case.

Meanwhile despite what you may think, recording a call isn’t as easy as merely pressing a button on your iPhone — in order to get it done, you’ll need to install an app.

There are tons of these littered across the Apple App Store and the web that claim to show you how to record calls on an iPhone, and while many of them promise crystal-clear quality for free, very few live up to the claims.

To help you find an appropriate application, we’ve scoured the internet in search of the best call recorders and offered up a quick overview of our favorites in the paragraphs below. Just try not to forget about the whole legality thing.
