Nairaland / General / Re: Let's Pray For Our Leaders And Not Insult Them In 2013 by alosnika: 3:47am On Jan 02, 2013
When I was small, there's this song we used to sing 'Parents, listen to your children,we are the leaders of tomorrow'. Those people in power then and after still coming back to power, they keep recycling themselves and their children. And I wonder if my tomorrow has come at all now that I am old!

One of the problems we have in Nigeria is our modern day youths...they have never known what living a good life or what having a good government really mean. Many of them grew up in places where what they sing everyday is 'Ogun oso gbogbo, ate pa, ogun aje gbogbo, aye pa, ogun emere gbogbo, ate pa'. That's why they think prayer is the key to good governance. Yet, they play American lottery every year, they apply for Canadian federal skill worker immigration program every year. Well, maybe they want to go there to start praying for American or Canadian government.

Now note these, Luke 13 vs 3 'Jesus answered, I tell you, unless you repent, you too will perish'. vs 6,then Jesus told a parable, a man had a fig tree, planted in his vineyard, and he went to look for fruit on it,but did not find any. 7 then he said to the man who cared for the vineyard, for three years now,I have been coming to look for fruit on this fig tree and haven't found any,CUT IT DOWN.WHY SHOULD IT USE UP THE SOIL? 8 Sir,the man replied, leave it alone one more year, and I will dig around it and fertilize it, if it bears fruit next year, fine! if not, then CUT IT DOWN.

vs 32: Jesus replied "Go and tell that Fox(Herod)......"

You see many of our Nigerian youths think they are religious, spiritual or say dem sabi bible well well. if Jesus called King Herod Fox, why shouldnt I call any bad govt or leaders what they are too. If Jonathan is a retardee, let him know he is, simple. If he doesn't bear any fruit, cut it down. simple.

Religion and good governanace are not the same. don't get it twisted. The truth is enough is enough, enough of bad governance, enough of bad roads, enough of corruption, enough of unemployment, enough of Boko Haram, enough of power failure etc Prayer will not change these, it's action that will change it, it's revolution that will change it. Capital punishment is the reward of stealing public funds by any govt official in China. it is a law. Do we have such in Nigeria? Capital punishment is the reward of carrying hard drugs in Malaysia, Singapore etc Do you know how many Nigerians are on death row in these countries.

What has happened to Farouk and Otedola, what has happenend to gbenga Daniel, and those that stole police pension fund, subsidy monies, NPA, all indicted public office holders etc Do you even know that we don't have freedom of information bill signed in Nigeria! Government cannot tell us the reasons behind all the plane crashes we have had in Nigeria. And on National Geography Channel, I watch aircraft crash investigation in many developed countries. Instead of us to come together and fight to stop all these madness in Nigeria, you are brainwashed into praying...no wonder the scripture says some pray and receive not, because they pray amiss!!!

It is high time, we stopped all these corrupt officials. it is high time, we saved Nigeria. Martin Luther King did not sit down in his church to keep praying for the Liberation if the Black people in. America. he was in the street, no violence demonstration.

As for me, my daily prayer is for that time to come when the masses will rise up and save Nigeria. A one time, life time, occupy Nigeria that will change everything is what I keep praying for. And I can see it is near, in a country in which unemployment is greater than 48%, in which govt officials steal public funds with impunity. It is near...and I can see it.

Your leaders insult you when they do not perform their obligations and steal with impunity what belong to every Nigerians. You don't pray for such, you take them out of positions. The problem with Nigerians is that we think we are religious. it's incredible how we deceive ourselves that way. Prayers would not give us good roads, good medical facilities, employment opportunities, etc. If all these are gotten by prayers, then it means the Americans, Canadians, British, Japanese, Chinese, Germans are world class prayer warriors. The bible says do not be deceived, God cannot be mocked, for whatsoever a man sows that shall he also reap. How do you pray to God to fix your roads, create jobs, or good medical facilities when your leaders on a daily basis embezzle monies meant for all these projects. When you sow corruption, you reap the fruits of corruption. Nobody stands before a blackboard and prays the principle of mathematics to solve 2+2, you pick up a chalk and apply the principle of mathematics. I remember someone that started praying after exam that 'God, please let Lome be the capital of Ghana'. I asked why he said because he chose Lome as his answer in his exam. I am sure we all witnessed how the Egyptians changed their government recently and saved their futures. Until that day, when all Nigerians can come together with one voice and fight any government that fails in its obligations towards Nigerians, nothing will change. if you like sleep in cathedrals everyday praying! Nothing will change. Freedom is not actually free, it has a price, until that day when Nigerians are ready to be freed from corrupt government officials, nothing will change.

Any leaders that want our blessings should do their jobs. Do your job if you are in position of power, then I will pray for you everyday and ask God for more wisdom and understanding. Fail to do your job and I will place a curse on you and your unborn generations.

Give me the kind of Nigeria I crave for, and you will have my blessings, else I will curse you on a daily basis. Daniel said unto Belzazar, today your kingdom has been torn apart. Samuel said unto Saul, your kingdom has been taken away from you and given to your neighbour better than you. So I don't know why I should pray for my own corrupt leaders and ask God for more grease to their elbows.

Evil triumphs when the righteous keep quiet.

Career / Re: Job, Graduate Program Or Marriage? by alosnika: 7:50pm On Dec 17, 2012
And who says you cannot get married and go with your wife since you are on scholarship. I have lots and lots of friends that did same. So, it's not a bad idea.

For your job, take leave of absence if your company would approve. If after your program you get a god job over there, then throw in your resignation.

However, bear in mind...don't sacrifice your intending family (wife or husband) because you are going for a postgraduate program abroad....Always remember the biblical saying ''The stone that the builders rejected has now become the chief cornerstone''. He/She might be all that you need after all.

Best wishes in your decision.

Religion / Re: Is It Right For Jonathan To Kneel At Redeemed Camp by alosnika: 9:16am On Dec 17, 2012
Spirituality is not an excuse for mediocrity!!! When voted into power as the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Jona signed an oath of office to perform his duties as the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. If he knows he cannot keep that oath of office, he should resign. The problem with Nigerians is that they believe their reward is in Heaven...I wonder if they will even make heaven. The United States president(s), past and incumbent do their jobs and perform their duties, so is the British government, Japanese, Koreans, Germans, etc.

We all saw what happened in Egypt recently, it shows power belong to the people. But Nigerians are brainwashed by religion...Until that day when people realize their tomorrow is being washed away by all these corrupt leaders, nothing will change. In a country where there is no public holder, governors oh, ministers oh, senators oh, common man oh, that has not been indicted of stealing public funds, and we expect things to change. God is not a magician. It's the same God that created the Americans, that created the British, that created the Japanese, that created the Germans.....that created Nigerians. British PMs go to work on bicycles, trains, public transports, etc...but it will never happen in Nigeria. Our leaders think a man's life consists in the abundance of the things he has!!! Unemployment is on the rise about 48% now, a country where PhD holders and 704 MSc holders applied for drivers' jobs!!! Is this an act of God,that you are now praying God should do something?

Somebody should just tell our leaders to stop chasing vanity, they should do their jobs. Leave prayer alone...do your job...simple as abc

Evil triumphs, when the righteous keep silent.
