Two things, you might need to get your own security, some areas are like that, they wont want to take security issue serious until it affects them.

My neighbour's mother was killed while trying to seperate her son and step daughter from fighting. The mum just returned from the market that evening and started pleading with them to stop, as she was still pleading, the step daughter angrily threw a big stone towards the brother but the boy bent and escaped it and it went straight to the mother's chest.
