I am seriously confused and worried about what is happening in my family and I will appreciate your candid advice.
There is this guy my sister has been in a relationship with for over seven years now. so he actually asked her hand in marriage and decided to come see my parents for introduction, about some months ago. My family decided to take their time to find out more about the guys family background as is required in Igbo tradition.
After several questions asked, my family came to find out that the guy is an Osu (an outcast). On knowing this, everybody in my family told my sister to cut ties with him and discontinue the relationship because it is a big taboo to get married to an Osu in my place . If you do, no family member or friend will attend your wedding or even have anything to do with you again.
But my sister refused to listen to anybody claiming she really loves the guy, that they have been together for a very long time and that she is not getting younger anymore (mind you, she is in her early thirties). Everybody (my parents and extended family members) tried to talk her out of it but she still didn't listen.
After much pressure and her continues insistence, my dad decided to give them his blessings, although against his wish (my dad is actually not really deep into tradition). Now the guy has done all the traditional rights and paid for her dowry. Their wedding is coming up soon.
But the problem now is, according to tradition and from what I heard, if she was allowed to go with the guy without my dad giving them his blessings, the stigma would have just been on her and she alone would have been considered Osu, since she insisted to continue with the marriage. But now that my dad has given them his blessings, it is considered that all of us (her siblings) will also have that link of Osu too. Except if she decide to put an end to the relationship and discontinue with the wedding, which I don't think my sister is ready to do.
I am really worried and depressed about it, cause I don't want anything that will affect me tomorrow when I want to get married just because of my sister's mistakes.

See the number of Yoruba people in Nnewi alone. Now, Nnewi is not a major city in South Eastern Nigeria. Imagine the number of Yoruba in Aba, Onitsha, Enugu, Owerri, Umuahia, Abakaliki, Awka and other smaller cities and towns comparable to Nnewi. First off, what is the objective of many of these pointless videos I have been seeing circulating online since 2022 of Igbo male interviewers creeping up or snooping up on some of the Yoruba folks living in the East of Nigeria and asking these sorts of questions? Enugu State and Anambra State are both indigenous to the Igala ethnic group and Igbo ethnic group so what's all these creepy videos for by the way? Indeed, I have read of Igbos NOT selling land to outsiders from other ethnicities which can be due to lack of land because of the landmass in the East which has led to multiple storey buildings being built to maximize space or the lands may be family lands which are limited.
Second, Yoruba, Hausas and Edos, etc, have been living and doing business in the Old Eastern region of Nigeria even before the Nigerian Civil War of 1967 to 1970 which lasted for 30 months or exactly 2-and-half years. I read a newspaper article over 10 years ago where a historian in Abakaliki indicated that an Edo businessman owned the biggest mansion in that town before the war, but when Colonel Emeka Ojukwu told non-Eastern Region ethnic groups to leave the Eastern Region immediately in June 1967 shortly before the first shots were fired during the Civil War, many Edos, Yorubas, Hausas, etc, had to leave and it remained so for some years after the war ended in 1970 before people started going back to Igboland. But Rivers State, especially Port Harcourt became the new and more populated place OR headquarters for many Yorubas and other ethnic groups to live and work. If they needed to get somethings from Aba, they would go from PH and return home. It is a FACT that there are even far more Yoruba communities doing big businesses and living in the Northern states of Nigeria for over 150 years and the entire West African especially in Ivory Coast, Ghana, Senegal, etc. There has been a trade link between the Oyo Empire and the Hausa city states for centuries via the Nupe country and horses were regularly imported for the use of the Oyo Empire's horse cavalry because tsetse-fly was a major factor for those regular replacements. Oyo Empire trading caravans traded with Mali, Ashanti, Benin Empires as well as the Igala areas around the Niger River fir centuries. I even read years back a book entitled the "Igbo-Igala Land Border" written by an American scholar who taught at the University of Nigeria in Nsukka in the 1960s to 1970s where he indicated that the Yoruba and their Igala friends hunted for game in the Nsukka area about 300 years ago, so, it's obvious that Yoruba s already have had contacts with the current Enugu and Anambra States many centuries back before European colonialism started. He talked about how the Yorubas taught the Igalas who they had family ties with some of their "incantations" and vice versa. It's not strange that Igala language is classified as Yoruboid and the two groups closely use words of Yoruba origin such as "Egungun" which Igalas call "Egwugwu" for masquerade , "Ogede" for banana and plantain, "Ewa" and "Egwa" for beans, "Omi" for water in both Yoruba and Igala, Ogun and Ogwu meaning medicine, "Akuko" for cock, Ogun and Ogwu meaning war, and much more, etc. So, I think especially in the Igala areas of Anambra and Enugu, they will feel more at home and for me, the indigenous people of Onitsha are very enlightened while Enugu City is quite a metropolitan area where I have never heard of overt discriminations towards other ethnicities, so, Yoruba folks have NO fear except for the violence from the Ipob and their agents who kill those opposed to their warped ideologies under instructions from retarded Igbo Ipob members operating online while living abroad in Finland, UK, Italy, Spain, and the United States.

bablojnr: I entered Bénin Republic through the Semé Border from Badagry. You can get to seme in different ways but since I knew the terrain I went in the most affordable way. From Mile 2 in Lagos to Seme is 5000 naira by a straight car but if you break the journey into 2 or 3 you spend only 2 or 3000 naira. You can take a bus from mile 2 to Agbara and Agbara to Badagry roundabout for about 700 and 500. From Badagry to Seme is about 600 naira but if you take pay for two seats in front it's double that money. It's been a while since I went that route so prices may vary by 100 or so. Instead I took a bike from the Red cross office at Yaba to Oyingbo for 600, then took a rickety, nearly packed up bus of the type common in Lagos to Agbara, and from there to Badagry for 500 naira . My journey Began with a Tragedy which I am just talking about for the first time . I looked up to see the moment a tricycle ran into a very young Boy, spilling his brain Nearly unto the pavement. At first one or two people in the bus thought he was still alive but as he was lifted up and the Brains fell out into the pavement, his true fate became known. The air was rent with cries of pain of sadness. If I were superstitious , I'll have ended the journey right there. I didn't though but I continued . In reality I spent two days in Badagry while trying to clear up a few outstanding issues in Nigeria, but at the end I got tired and moved on without rounding up. At badagry, I visited or rather re visited the slave museums and the First story building in Nigeria. At the border I took a car to Cotonou ( 1500 Francs) and bought some lovely street food. It has a vibrant Nigerian community. Yoruba is the second most spoken local language.
Prices are on average twice as much as in Nigeria .
To get a residence permit costs as little as about 5k or so I'm told
In the past Béninoise used to smuggle Fuel and Nigerians smuggle rice . I wonder why it isn't standardized instead of allowing smugglers make money. I said in the past, because the level of smuggling activity varies based on multiple economic factors eg I'm told it became less profitable to smuggle with the rise in naira

Three members of the US family gospel group the Nelons have been killed in a plane crash, their management announced.
Jason Clark, Kelly Nelon Clark and their daughter Amber Kistler died on Friday while taking a flight to perform on a cruise ship.
Seven people died in the crash in north-east Wyoming, including Kistler’s husband, Nathan.
The Campbell county Facebook page said the crash happened at about 1pm north of the town of Gillette and sparked a wildfire.
On Instagram, the Gaither Management Group wrote: “One of the best loved gospel music families in America, the Nelons were involved in a tragic, fatal plane crash on Friday afternoon on their way to join the Gaither Homecoming cruise to Alaska.
“Killed in the crash were Jason and Kelly Nelon Clark, Amber and Nathan Kistler and their assistant, Melodi Hodges, along with the pilot, Larry Haynie and his wife, Melissa.”
In a separate statement, a National Transportation Safety Board spokesperson said preliminary information indicated the plane crashed following an “autopilot issue during flight”. The agency had sent a team of investigators to the site for further examination, the spokesperson said.
The spokesperson added that a preliminary report on the crash was expected in about 30 days. A final report with the probable cause of the crash could take up to two years to complete.
The youngest daughter of the Clarks, Autumn Nelon Streetman, was not on the plane and said: “As many of you have heard by now, my father and mother, Jason and Kelly Nelon Clark, along with my sister, Amber, and brother-in-law, Nathan, as well as our dear friends Melodi Hodges, Larry and Melissa Haynie, were involved in a tragic plane crash on Friday.
“Thank you for the prayers that have been extended already to me, my husband, Jamie, and our soon-to-be-born baby boy, as well as Jason’s parents, Dan and Linda Clark. We appreciate your continued prayers, love and support as we navigate the coming days.”
According to the Gaither Management Group, Streetman was told of the crash in Seattle and “brought to the hotel where artists were gathered with Bill and Gloria Gaither to pray, sing and embrace them in their grief, pledging to support them in whatever needs arise”.
That was horrendous... Wiping off family members like that.
