Kaduna State Governor Mallam Nasir el-Rufai has said his government has traced some violent, aggrieved Fulani to their countries and paid them to stop the killings of Southern Kaduna natives and the destruction of their communities saying that the renewed violence is carried out by bandits.
El-Rufai made this known while fielding questions from some select Journalists in his office in Kaduna.
He said: “For southern Kaduna, we didn’t understand what was going on and we decided to set up a committee under Gen. Martin Luther Agwai (rtd) to find out what was going on there. What was established was that the root of the problem has a history starting from the 2011 post election violence.
“Fulani herdsmen from across Africa bring their cattle down towards Middle Belt and Southern Nigeria. The moment the rains starts around March, April, they start moving them up to go back to their various communities and countries.
“Unfortunately, it was when they were moving up with their cattle across Southern Kaduna that the elections of 2011 took place and the crisis trapped some of them.
“Some of them were from Niger, Cameroon, Chad, Mali and Senegal. Fulanis are in 14 African countries and they traverse this country with the cattle.
“So many of these people were killed, cattle lost and they organised themselves and came back to revenge.
“So a lot of what was happening in Southern Kaduna was actually from outside Nigeria. We got a hint that the late Governor Patrick Yakowa got this information and he sent someone to go round some of these Fulani communities, but of course after he died, the whole thing stopped. That is what we inherited. But the Agwai committee established that.
“We took certain steps. We got a group of people that were going round trying to trace some of these people in Cameroon, Niger republic and so on to tell them that there is a new governor who is Fulani like them and has no problem paying compensations for lives lost and he is begging them to stop killing.
“In most of the communities, once that appeal was made to them, they said they have forgiven. There are one or two that asked for monetary compensation. They said they have forgiven the death of human beings, but want compensation for cattle. We said no problem, and we paid some. As recently as two weeks ago, the team went to Niger republic to attend one Fulani gathering that they hold every year with a message from me.

He also threw an open challenge to the CBN that the Website would stop publishing those parallel market rates just to show the CBN that they will be found innocent of the allegations.
OK, just to be clear, I'm a player in the financial markets and the global business space. A lot of credible financial analysts from sources such as Stears have also emphasized that publishing fx rates on that Website has no effect on the manipulation of the market rates. Except the CBN has unerthed other charges against AbokiFX such as money laundering.
It's a good thing though that AbokiFX has stopped publishing the so-called parallel market rates (black market). The black market is illegal globally and this has persisted in that country (Nigeria) because of official connivance to take advantage of "artificial price differentials" between the official rates and the very annoying black market since the 1980s.

abokifx is not similar to websites that aggregate flight rates or websites that aggregate local or international weather conditions. forex, flight rates and weather are not the same thing. So using weather websites and flight rates websites to compare to abokifx is wrong.
Using moneygram to compare to abokifx is correct, because they are both publishing forex rates.
Now the difference between moneygram and abokifx is that moneygram is "MAYBE" licensed to publish those rates and those rates are gotten from the official rates of the countries for which they are publishing those rates(please note that everything in the bolded is my assumption, I am not sure if moneygram is licensed to publish rates or if they get their rates from official channels) while abokifx is not licensed to publish rates(this one i am very sure i am correct)

All financial markets aggregator Websites are at liberty to publish information based on field research and in-house research.

First of all, CBN official rate is like 410, so converting any FX inflow to naira means you will get it at 410... Now let me ask you, your uncle in USA has $10,000 for you. Will you tell him to wire the $10,000 to nigeria for N4,100,000, or will you find a third party who needs to pay his supplier in China,India, and sell it to him for 550 (N5,500,000) ? This is whats basically happening.
As someone in the manufacturing, let me try and explain whats going on. There is severe shortage of USD. Lets assume you need raw materials worth $500,000 for the month, you may be lucky to get $5,000 in a month from your bank/cbn (through LC OR BILL FOR COLLECTION), so you now have to go to blackmarket for the rest.
Abokifx just publishes prevailing rate.. Abokifx is irrelevant when it comes to demand and supply.. Im too tired to explain more, but the solution is simple.. CBN needs to provide more USD to the big companies who need it, and the black market price (REAL DOLLAR PRICE) will drop..
The reason why goods are going up in prices (TV, PHONE, AC, FOOD, etc), even though officially dollar is 410, is because NOBODY IS GETTING 410, or even when they do its minimal.. Yes you can get PTA (Travel allowance) from your bank, but thats only like $4000.
The real problem is when as a manufacturer you need $1m.. Good luck getting that in 10 years....
There is real demand for USD from local companies here for at least $500M a day, and CBN is barely giving 10% of that.. See the problem
How much do you think NESTLE spends daily on USD, or Nigerian breweries... Quick example, indomie is made with tapioca starch, Potasium & sodium carbonate, sodium tripolyphosphate, riboflavin which are imported.. They must probably use $millions weekly just for import... So they go to black market = price jump in finished product... Hope i made some sense..

You made some valid points here but then you have to also realise that AbokiFX is just a Website that aggregates or publishes exchange rates across all markets, and they collect FX data "anonymously" from the markets... and so CANNOT manipulate the FX rates.
It's similar to the many travel Websites that aggregate flight rate and/or weather Websites that aggregate local and international weather conditions!
Several international Websites such as Moneygram also publish rates across markets.
The REAL culprits in the sabotage of the Nigerian FX markets are the majority foreign illegal black market dealers from Mali, Niger Republic, Guinea, etc, and their local Nigerian collaborators the political space and the very poor CBN regulatory and monetary policies.
The black market is illegal in many countries of the world, and those operating in Nigeria (majorly foreign mallams) have to be arrested by the security agents for manipulating the markets with dubious rates!
The London-based owner of AbokiFX (who is of Yoruba-descent) is just a scape-goat here, while the foreign mallams and their local collaborators who illegally sell FX on the streets are walking free.
More diversification in the Nigerian economy is needed to bring in more FX in-flows from exports, investors, and the Nigeria Diaspora.
Security too matters otherwise people will keep rushing to convert the local currency into hard currencies.
