We really need to redeem ourselves. if u dont give them weapons and armour how will they perform can u give american soldiers these type of arms our soldiers are carrying to go and fight taliban? they need equipement if weapons is excuse why are they complaining? inside u and them who is the one fighting boko haram? who recieved military training? who is in the war front? |

bareal: Dey there dey complain!
The Nigerian Army have suddenly become so weak, they now talk and weep like toddlers. Common regroup, plan a coup de tact and get back your lost glory. Kill all your generals including the president and that stupid Lai Mohammed. Invade the Aṣọ Rock and make a public announcement to the whole wide world why you are taking these very necessary actions.
I can't believe this is the same Nigerian Army my dad retired from. I and my dad are as angry as helll right now. did you just call iswa common group? they just established them selfs as the deadliest group in west africa that same common group is terrorising nigeria, cameroon, chad and niger and so the soldiers shouldnt complain abi? |

In a country where soldiers are drafted into operation python, and operation cockroach; where soldiers don turn to meguard for politicians, wetin you expect? ocelot2006: I'm afraid you're right. I had a chat with a soldier attached to one of the Task Forces up north, and his stories were truly horrific. Even down to the basic fire arm, a Nigerian soldier is at a disadvantage. 'heard the barrel of the Nigerian made Type 56/OBJ-006 rifles buckles after being fired for some time that the soldiers have to pliers to straighten them. With Mobile Police Units that are usually rotated in and out of the NE, I wonder how the authorities expect our cops to face an enemy armed with RPG thermobaric rounds. There's urgent need to provide our troops with more and better equipment from basic body armour and rifles to armour vehicles (mbts, MRAPs, IFVs) , communication assets, better and transport combat aircrafts, etc. And don't forget the basic welfare of our soldiers and their families. They deserve way better. they need weapons, aviation sqd, taken care of and new commander that boost morals than threathn them with court martial |

Sizzorkay: bless you. That's what i just said, have people on watch and on patrols etc, but some people thought i watched too much movies, unreal, this is basic common sense Not the first time news sources has quoted soldiers saying they were caught unaware, that's lack of discipline, you can't be caught unaware in a war zone, no one said it's easy, i keep stressing that point. hundreds of terrorists just don't appear from thin air. How does this not piss people off didnt u read it? it was a soldier on the watch tower that informed the rest that boko haram was coming and at night when u dnt have night vision can u spot incoming threat? |

bidex111: If you have ever witnessed BHT style of attack: it takes balls to stand it. And it as not changed.
-attack the base in large numbers. -atacking from all directions. -the be based is aware of the inpending attack but the airforce probability of showing up is slim. -once you start taking casualties forget it, you've lost your base. -defending the base with heavy and slow vickers MBT, the MT-LB APC which is not reliable.
We are loosing the initiative, if something is not done in time. that was how they attacked my dad and his team in the bush at night with heavy fire in 2015 my dad got lucky that he was slim and hide beside a tree if not for GOD i would have lost my dad and some idiot on this trend keep call the soldiers incompetent |

Odunayaw: -They surely don't appear from thin air, where is your mortar, why is your fire response not coordinated -Blind spots in all direction including natural afforded cover spots that can aid boko haram supposed to be IEDed or mined -When did we become the Europeans/US that expect Air power all the time, even if we do, we begin to lose air assets due to attrition/over use -Then don't take casualties, this why base defense drills are done. One might say "but it's not a base", its not a holiday resort either. And no, to correct you, all is not lost even if most of your men have gunshot wounds -they had tanks( except if it had no ammo) they could have easily used it to frustrate Boko coming from all sides. Look at the video, it was a plain field
Godforbid I make excuses for them, this is utter incompetence - then why dont you go to the NE nd tell wounded, traumatized, sick, hungry and dead soldiers that they are incompetent and having holiday over there |

numbered: Many on here are rightly blaming the FG for underfunding and under-equiping the NA. At the same time lets tell ourselves the truth this Govt. wont change thier policy towards the Army in the next one month. How many soldiers wont live to see the new year because of the FG. To those at the front improvise adapt you have families waiting for you back home. thats how one nairalander said that the army is funded and they have the equipment and its due to incompetence that the soldiers are showing thats why they are killed |

Henry240: That is why they are trained soldiers.
Are you saying the army bundled civilians from Lagos and Port-Harcourt, gave them guns and left them in the north east?
Is that what you're saying? dont trained soldiers have emotions, dont trained soldiers have families? i have seen a lot of widows who lost their husbands to boko haram,i have been to army division and seen soldiers who have lost their legs, hands and cant even walk well bkus of bullet wounds with majority of them talking about lack of equipment and gear, even their allowance not been paid they suffer yet even without funding they strive to still fight yet people like you bash them I SWEAR YOU CAN NEVER KNOW HOW IT FEELS UNTIL YOU SEE THEIR SITUATION those that joined knew what they were doing they lay down the life to die in a well mannered way not to be wasted like animals |
