The students stormed the Federal Government Secretariat, Ikolaba Rd, Ibadan to protest against the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities in the country. Speaker of the House of Representatives Femi Gbajabiamila has handed over his security operative Abdul M. Hassan to the Department of State Services (DSS) over the shooting of a newspaper vendor Ifeanyi Okereke. This is contained in a statement personally signed by the speaker on Friday. Gbajabiamila said this is to allow for investigation and appropriate administrative and judicial action on the officer who has also been suspended from the convoy. “The unfortunate death of Mr. Ifeanyi Okereke at the hands of one of my security aides has left me deeply shaken. “Mr. Okereke was a citizen going about his business, trying to make a living for himself and his family. There is no reason for his life to have ended the way it did. “This morning, I have handed over the security operative, Abdullahi M. Hassan, to the Department of State Security (DSS) for investigation and appropriate administrative and judicial action. Nigerian Afro Beats singer, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, Popularly known as Burna Boy, has added to his long list of honors, and this time, at the expense of fellow singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido. The African Giant saw off competition from fellow category nominees Davido, Mr. Eazi, Dave, and a host of other artists to clinch the 'Crossing Boundaries' with Music awards at the 2020 AFRIMMA awards which was held virtually due to the pandemic. The 'Anybody' crooner also won the award for best collaboration on the remix of 'Jerusalema' alongside Master KG and Nomcebo Zikode. Buhari restated his earlier call that "only a people's vaccine with equality and solidarity at its core can protect all of humanity and get our societies safely running again.
