aktolly54: Op next time you are boiling meat ,don't put plenty water at first. Reduce the light and let the meat boil on medium heat till it boils for few minutes and generate water itself then you add water later
You comment is noted but I will also suggest that you try this method of boiling the meat. Maybe the taste will come out just the same, if not better.
The point I am trying to make is that there is always room for learning and improvement in the kitchen. Change is constant
pocohantas: We have a Food Section, just like we have Romance, Travel and Politics. It is good that the Food section is now getting traffic and publicity.
lilvicky68: I used to prefer the frying method but not with tomatoes and neglect the soaking method until I tasted it and found that it's same thing so far as the taste is nice..
But I like frying mine when cooking egusi soup
That's nice, good choice. The bottom line is to have a delicious soup
chibu4u2: Yummy!!!. Once did the tomoto frying method back then in uni and my guys were laughing me for cooking egusi soup with tomoto, sounded funny at the time though. lol. Wish this post had come earlier on then would have been nice. Anyway lovely meal to behold.

Hi Nairalanders! Egusi soup is arguably the most popular soup in Nigeria and I have made it using 2 distinct methods : the tomatoes frying method and the soaking method. Please see below for details of how I prepared each type and let me know which method that you prefer

INGREDIENTS Egusi 3 cups (grinded to powder) Goat meat Stockfish Dried fish Crayfish Kpomo (cow skin) Uziza leaves Vegetable (ugu leaves) Red oil Seasoning Cubes and salt Water
SamJed: looks yummy...sorry from your video you look quite familiar...please did you attend MaryGold Schools in Portharcourt way back in your primary school education?

Lonewolf2010: This meal is not conducive for an ulcer patient.Nice meal but if you are an ulcer patient apart from the grilled fish, the process of frying the yam, will cause acid reflux during digestion, pineapple, cucumber, watermelon are all acid based fruit. I won’t advise an ulcer patient to try this out.Dish look well presented but Its all acid based and not a balance diet.
Thanks for your comments. Please note that the fried yam and fruits are only accompaniments to main food which is the grilled fish and may be substituted accordingly depending on the dietary needs of the person in question.
Can you please clarify what you mean by saying this meal is not a balanced diet? My elementary biology and home economics taught me that a balanced diet contains all six classes of food which I believe are already represented in this meal.
Acidbath: Nice one. Mackerel/Titus is one of my favourites.
Please where can I get white and black pepper at affordable prices?
Thanks very much.
You can get the white and black pepper in the supermarket but if you don't find it, you can substitute with other spices that you have. Note that local peppers with special flavours will also do well for the spicing e.g. yellow scotch bonnet pepper (atarodu), cayenne pepper (shumbo), Cameroon pepper and bell peppers.
Cook complicated new delicacy. What is frying fish and cutting fruits?!
Next news abeg
Thanks for your comment, The fish was grilled not fried. The main technique on display here is the spicing of the fish prior to grilling. If not properly done, the taste won't come out well and I can bet that you like great tasting grilled fish.
