PoliticsI’m The Next Governor Of Anambra - Maduka by AmadiAba(op): 4:47pm On Nov 03, 2021
I’m The Next Governor Of Anambra - Accord Party Flagbearer, Maduka Roars

…says credible election is the solution to insecurity in Nigeria.
…urges Ndi Anambra to come out en masse and vote massively for Accord party.

*YOU HAVE BEEN ABLE TO RUN AN IMPRESSIVE CAMPAIGN THIS ELECTIONEERING PERIOD, WHAT IS THE FEEDBACK SO FAR*?

The feedback has been massive. Change is imminent. From the plains of Awka to the hills of Ukpor and the swamps of Ifite Ogwari, the gospel according to Dr Maduka has permeated every household, with volunteers and ambassadors traversing every community and bringing the message of salvation. Ndi Anambra have completely bought into our vision of a new beginning. They know with me, it is a giant leap into the future. They equally know that in our capacity as private individual, we have done it with our own hard earned resources and this has earned us trust capital from the people, that we can do more with public resources. We have gone round the 326 wards in Anambra, there is no platform we haven’t gone to address Ndi Anambra and no major state in Nigeria too. I can confidently say that the feedback has been positive. You can take it to the bank; I am the next Governor of Anambra.

*HOW WORRIED ARE YOU ABOUT THE INSECURITY IN ANAMBRA STATE, DON’T YOU THINK THIS MIGHT AFFECT VOTER TURN-OUT IN THIS ELECTION*?

The security situation in Anambra state is quite worrisome and unfortunate. It has reached a fever pitch. Anambra has never had it this bad in terms of security, even during previous elections. How it degenerated and the needless loss of lives are heart wrenching. Again and again, Anambra appears on the news for bad reasons. The already battered image is crucified every day. This is not who we are. This doesn't form the core of our being. I am certain that Ndi Anambra abhors and condemns criminality anyway it presents itself. This is why all stakeholders in the state have continued to appeal in one voice that all aggrieved people should sheath their swords because this election is critical for the survival of our state and we cannot play into the hands of our enemies by our actions. It is important that Ndi Anambra turns out en masse to vote and I must charge INEC to ensure it conducts a free and fair election because a credible election is the first requisite for security and stability in any society.

*WHAT DO YOU THINK ARE YOUR CHANCES IN THIS ELECTION CONSIDERING THE FACT YOU ARE RUNNING AGAINST THE SUPPOSEDLY BIG PARTIES?*

There is nothing like big parties and I think we at Accord Party have made more impact than the platforms you refer to as “big parties”. What actually makes a party big? Is it not impact? The ones you are referring as 'big' are just big only in name and when you want to judge them on what they have achieved, you will see that they are empty and are still coming with empty promises. For a fact, they are part of the woes of our dear State, subjecting us to what social economists call "arrested development". They just feel they are too big and realistically, their size only reflect in their claims to power but without a corresponding usage of that to better the lives of our people. You can see the scanty regard they have for the people they intend to govern by ignoring debates invitations. How then will ndi Anambra know their manifesto. They are simply big in the drama of election heist, their desperation and their failure over time to entrench the culture of good governance. I believe Ndi Anambra are smart people and want to break free from these platforms that only remember them once every four years. They know how to assess the quality of a serious candidate, they have seen me traverse the whole 326 wards, which none of the candidates have done, including the supposedly big party candidates. Our mission to rescue and deliver quality governance to Ndi Anambra has gone viral and I am happy they acknowledge that.

*WHAT ARE THE QUALITIES NDI ANAMBRA SHOULD LOOK OUT FOR IN A CANDIDATE THEY WILL BE ELECTING IN NOVEMBER 6TH ELECTION?*

Humility should be the first. It allows one to recognize that what he has is like a trust arrangement. The real power lies with the people. It is the sovereign that donates the power to the Leviathan. It makes one conscious of the real source of power and by so doing, exert all his efforts towards service, for that is the sole reason for public office. Secondly, are leaders with the will to make tough decisions. Leadership demands taking decisions for the greater good of the people, regardless of whose ox is gored. Leadership requires someone who will neither falter not flinch even if the heavens totters and the earth reels. Furthermore, elections are expensive and Anambra has had issues concerning godfatherism in the past. Ndi Anambra should look out for a candidate that is self-sponsored, someone who carries no sort of financial burden into the office or commitment from a Godfather of any sort. I for one is self-made and self-sponsored. This implies that I have all the needed free hand to make decisions for the greater good alone without any untoward motivation or undue influence.

Finally, ndi Anambra should study the antecedents of those asking for their votes. You can't learn left handedness in old age. I have transformed an obscure and rustic village with my personal resources. Imagine what I will do with public funds, and backed by state power.

…as Anglican Bishop goes scientific, introduces STEAM

…to build center for robotics and coding

The Diocese of Nnewi, Anglican Communion, will be the first to set up a Diocesan Centre for Coding and Robotics to ensure that the children in the diocese are not left out in the 21st century digital revolution.

The Bishop of Nnewi Diocese, Rt. Rev. Ndubuisi Obi, who stated this during the flag-off of Coding and Robotic training workshop in partnership with Edufun Technik STEM Center at the Anglican Girls Secondary School Nnewi, said the programme would be extended to 16 major secondary schools in the Diocese.
He stated that the Nnewi Diocesan School Board will find a way to mainstream coding and robotics studies in its curriculum for it to be well entrenched in the system and maintained that it is only through such a way that children will grow with it and it will become part of them.

“We have started and nobody knows the extent we can go. Our intention is that these students will turn out fine". He noted.

Rt. Rev. Ndubuisi Obi said he first came in contact with coding and robotics as an Archdeacon, so when the founder of Edufun Technik, Uchenna Onwuamaegbu-Ugwu brought the idea to him, it was easy for him to take the opportunity, adding that “when the Uchenna Onwuamaegbu-Ugwu the founder of Edufun Technik came to me, it was not a new thing, so we immediately hit the ground running to make it a reality for the students in the Diocese to benefit without their parents/guardians paying so much because it involves a lot of money, considering the materials, workshop books, the setting up of laboratory among others. The bishop further noted that this is a technology driven era, therefore the students should be prepared to meet up with the challenges of the time.

Lauding the Edufun Technik on their commitment for the programme to succeed, the Lord Bishop said: "I truly commend the Edufun Technik facilitators. I must confess they have been running at a loss, I am certain, but I told them that this is the sacrifice they will make to flag off this. Then with time, various schools within the state will key in, for it is said that the more the merrier. When others key in, they will then begin to recoup their investment".
He said both the diocese and the facilitators had made heavy investment in the programme, but their interest is to empower the average girl and boy in the Diocesan schools.

" I am happy at the impact being made on these girls. That is the joy. We will extend it to other schools like Carol Standard, Bishop Uzodike, Dame Irene Okwuosa, Living Spring, Kings Secondary, in all 16 secondary schools" of the Diocese, said the bishop.

The Archdeacon in charge of education in the Diocese, Ven. Henry Nzubechukwu Nduka (JP), said it was not easy as the financial involvement nearly scared them away, however considering the benefits the Diocese had to reconsider and make the investment, thanks to the partnership with Edufun Technik.
Ven. Nduka who is also the Supervisor, Special Duties, Anambra State in charge of Moral Instructions in Nnewi North, South, and Ekwusigo Local Government Areas said, if there is anything that makes the Bishop not to sleep, it is how to make Nnewi a technology hub in Africa.
He said coding and robotics have come to stay in Nnewi Diocese but decried the discouragement from some people over the initiative and growing interest.

Uchenna Onwuamegbu-Ugwu the Managing Director of Edufun Technik Center who is a multiple award winning educator on STEAM Education and the facilitator of the programme said Coding, Artificial Intelligence and Robotics education were simply to bring technology closer to the children, introduce them to the 21st century digital skills and prepare them for the future of work.
She emphasized that the policy makers need to pay urgent attention to what the future of work looks like and start overhauling the nation’s school curriculum.
She said: “Robotics education right now is what the children should be looking out for”. The future of work describes *changes in how work will get done over the next decade*, influenced by technological, generational, and social shifts, therefore, the right thing to do is to equip the younger generation with the right skills to make informed decision.
The world of internet and technology has come to stay, knowing this we have to think about Jobs that will be available by 2030.
She noted that the top five career choices in learning Robotics, Artificial Intelligence coding, Machine Learning and Coding are: *Data Scientist, Big data Engineer, Machine Learning Engineers, Software Engineers and Automation Engineers*.
At this point our students have the right to know what the future holds for them and start right now to be inspired and be provided with the relevant soft skills like: *Digital literacy and computational thinking, Emotional and social intelligence, Creative and innovative mindset*, with these skills they will be well equipped for STEAM careers opportunities.
She expressed their desire to bring Robotics Education to schools across Africa by helping them set up robotic and coding Labs.
She expressed her passion, commitment and capacity to work with the government, mission and private schools across Nigeria and any other parts of Africa to actualize her vision. She stressed the need for collaboration in conducting train the trainer’s capacity building programmes which will help them to set up coding and robotics centers in communities across Nigeria.
One of the beneficiaries Mmesoma, said “This will be an unforgettable experience in my life, participating in this Robotics workshop has opened my eyes to the possibilities of embracing technology. I want to become a farmer in the future, and I now understand how technology will help me, especially drone technology. I pray that this program will be integrated as part of the school subject”.

“Leadership is not about title or a designation. It is about impact, influence, and inspiration”- Robin S. Sharma.

By Evangelist Ikenna Anakor, (Ikukuoma Nnewi)

A giant tree once stood against the sky, magnificent, strong and reliable. It was an epitome of grace, beauty and power. It provided balance to little plants around it. Birds safely reared their young and made their nests on its vast branches. Passersby enjoyed the cooling shades it provided. The land on which it stood became fertilized whenever it sheds its leaves. Then one day, without any prior warning, it fell. The place it once stood became lonely and void. Birds of the air filled the woods with their songs of lamentation because their strong tower is no more. Little plants around it became suddenly vulnerable. Passersby became exposed to the vagaries of the unforgiving weather. That tree was Osita Emma Ojukwu.

Until his death, Osita Emmanuel Ojukwu was an Igbo business man from Nnewi, who sojourned in China in search of greener pastures for almost 25 years and there, lived a life of service, and almost transmuted into Nigeria's life ambassador extraordinaire in that country. A very influential fellow, he was a bridge builder who played very important role in bridging communication gap that existed between Nigerians and the Chinese authorities prior to his ascension as the leader of the diaspora community. It is important to note that most of the favourable relationship Nigeria benefits today with China emanated from his intervention and personal diplomacy. A consummate leader, who in a bid to equip himself properly for the duty he did so well, elected to study Chinese language and Chinese law. This action made him super prepared to represent his people, having conquered the language barrier and with an excellent knowledge of the Chinese jurisprudence. He mounted the saddle of leadership of Nigerian Community in China when the image of Nigerians in China was terribly battered. It was so bad that Nigerians were subjected to various forms of dehumanization to the extent of refusing them space to engage in their legitimate businesses. When Ossy took over leadership in 2007 as the interim leader of Nigerian Community in China, he swung into action and it was not long before he turned things around and redeemed the horrible image of Nigerians. Considering his achievements, history will remember him as one of the greatest leaders of Nigeria and African Communities in China. To the time of his death, Mr. Ossy made tremendous effort to see that Nigerians in Guangzhou and beyond were respected. He worked with the authorities to create enabling environment for genuine Nigerian businessmen in China which enabled several of them to thrive. Under his great leadership, Nigerians transcended mere trading to owning industrial concerns in China. It was to his eternal credit that most business missions, chamber of commerce and Chinese investors came into Nigeria. He created a leeway for our industrialists to gain acceptability and play big in the Chinese economy and today it has paid off in the number of Nigerians who have their factories and are employers of labor in China. What a sage. At a time when people were afraid of having any dealings with the Chinese police stations, Ossy was the only person who could go in there to release or plead the cause of any Nigerian arrested for offences bothering mostly on invalid travel documents and he did release them.

For his effective leadership, in 2010, Nigerians in China elected him as the president of Nigerian Community in China at the expiration of his interim regime. Ossy worked tirelessly and made sure that Nigerians who got trapped in China for many years due to expiration of their travel documents found their way back to Nigeria again, reuniting with their various families and by the time his tenure elapsed as the president of Nigeria Community, all the Africans in China came together and made him president of the African Union in China to replicate his feat in the Nigerian Union. His image loomed so large in China but he never abused the enormous power he wielded. There was no high ranking Nigerian who never visited him in China; it was so much that his office was busier than the Nigerian embassy in China. He was so passionate about Nigeria and was always willing to help Nigerian officials or ordinary Nigerian citizens who sought for one help or the other.

Testimonies of his life abounds. According to one of his aides, Zima, “I can recall vividly during one of the visits of president Buhari to China. Six hours after president Buhari has left Beijing for Nigeria, his protocols were still in Beijing because their aircraft was not allowed to fly. When the embassy contacted him, we were in his office in Guangzhou. He made a phone call and magic happened in Beijing. Dignitaries were astonished on how he could influence Beijing from Guangzhou”.

To Hon. Musa, former secretary, Nigerian Community in China, “Emma, as he was popularly called among the Chinese echelons, was a complete honest man to the brim, his heart was made of gold in a very large sized presence. He gave and accommodated without fear of going bankrupt, he impacted lives in an undiluted sincerity and never expected anything in return, he stood tall in the midst of time and matters, he fought for males, females, kids, white people, black people (from any country) Arabs, Indians, Chinese, etc. Ojukwu was with presidents of several countries, governors, senators, Kings and Queens (including the king of Belgium) and several others. He was featured on Chinese TV on several occasions as a special authority, the only African person who ever lived in China with an endless permission to stay, his own visa was unlimited and does not expire, he was revered among the Chinese oligarchs, he was loved and fully accepted among the Chinese top powers, he was regarded by anyone in the pursuit of truth and justice, he fought for justice to the end. If anyone was ill, Emma will be there with that person to the last minutes be it whatsoever, Ojukwu developed several illnesses due to his endless fights for the helpless, he will go hungry, penniless and cheat sleep for days just to make sure a fellow human is fine and alive, he will give his all when a fellow human is in need, and he will do all these as if he wasn't doing anything. When Ojukwu finally handed the Shenzhen mafia kingpin to the Supreme Court of Guangdong, the then Attorney General of Guangdong Province, (who sat in stunned disbelief after his many years of hard-work trying to get hold of the very criminal) declared Emma-Ojukwu as an insuperable prodigy with an unusual strength, wisdom and class. Indeed, words are not enough to describe this great man who came with an unwavering push in life. Emma-Ojukwu was on the fifth ladders of Maslow before his demise; that was a great, extremely wise, God-made ironman, a very powerful being who just departed".

Ikenna Anakor

Ossy’s death might take the black race of China residence another century to achieve his prototype, if it'll ever happen. He is an irreplaceable personality. May his memory forever be a blessing.

Ikenna Anakor is a friend to Ossy ojukwu and writes from Togo
