Education / Re: Covenant Beats UI, FUTA To Retain Nigeria’s Best University Spot (Full List) by Amalekki: 2:14pm On Apr 12
In reality OAU folks have always been papering over cracks. More often than not, the bulk of the noise is always about the structure and architecture of the campus with ever dwindling focus on the real essence of the school. A university is not all about buildings. Several faculties were left at the mercy of half-baked lecturers with little effort to attract top talents as done in the early years in the 60s and 70s. In Ife, you would see a big name department with zero professor or just 1 professor supported by PhD students, not even PhD candidates or full PhDs; contributing to non-accreditation or loss of accreditation. The more adequate faculties that were meeting the desired marks were the likes of Agriculture, Arts, Humanities etc. The big name ones have been left struggling for decades.

Sentiments did not allow many involved to focus on crying out for help towards addressing these issues. Just like UI and UNILAG with their own struggles too, Ife has a huge alumni network. All was hidden under nostalgic screams of Great Ife when gathered together. Some wonderful efforts have been made over the years but certainly not enough. Ife shall be great again but a lot has to be done beyond loud slogan and an arguably embarrassing school anthem that hardly goes beyond mere entertainment. Ife must stop dancing to the gallery and start proper rebuilding.

Josephkabila12:
The Governing Council and The Senate headed by The VC of OAU needs to be changed. OAU is not performing well. OAU is a top school.

Yes we all know there is more to it but there is nothing unfair about the judgment. Applying the option of fine as in the case of Oluwadarasimi Omoseyin is at the discretion of the judge.

The judge did not create anything new beyond what was brought before her and what the law says https://www.channelstv.com/2024/02/01/court-jails-actress-six-months-for-spraying-stepping-on-new-naira-notes/ .

Truvelisback:
l only used the word "murder" to stress or illustrate that the offence he allegedly committed isn't as that serious for fine not to be accepted or be given 6 month sentence. There is more it than Just the spray of money 💰.

Unfortunately that's how law enforcement works everywhere.

You don't have to be the only one driving over speed limit to get caught. Many drivers overspeed daily in Chicago, Dallas, Atlanta etc but few are caught.

"I am/was not the only one" is not a valid form of defence in law. You must prove that you did not commit the crime.

The time you have just wasted typing these lines could have been used to search for the info you badly needed on Omisore, if you are truly interested cheesy

lexy2014:

there are 3 things I asked for:

kindly enlighten us on 1. who omisore is, 2. the family history and 3. what they have done for their state

1. you have told me Omisore's educational background and the fact that he HAD (not have) a consulting company. also, I dont know of any record of Omisore working for the World bank/AfDB as a consultant. or maybe you can state the many projects he did for the World bank/AfDB.

2. you only talked about his father. is that all about his family history?

3. I dont see anywhere in your response that answers number 3 question.

4. how does everything you said about Omisore about enables him to be to afford this car gift he gave to the Ooni?

Make I help small because Omisore family no be moinmoin for Ife but politics mess people up big time. He is a licensed graduate engineer (Electrical) and also has a PhD (though not in Engineering i think).

Omisore is an Ife prince, his dad was a renowned philanthropist and papal knight in the Catholic Church. Omisore was a world bank/ADB consultant involved in several projects before joining politics. He bankrolled Bola Ige's Alliance for Democracy in Osun State towards 1999 election. His most popular consulting company back then was Chrisore Engineering.

One truth from many credible sources that they don't want to hear because they find it uncomfortable and contrary to the grandma tales by moonlight. If not for Gowon, many here on Nairaland won't even exist.

Danmisra:
Some people don't have sense at all imagine challenging you arch enemy what he did for you after defeating you. The insane people don't know that the fact that he saved them from total annihilation is enough.
The greedy people don't appreciate anything in their life it's ingrained in their DNA.
So infrastructure projects is more important than their lives, that's how they think.
Simply ask what ojukuo or what his name contributed to west and north.
He saved their lives and integrated back into the system but they see him as useless, someone should tell what these greedy people with appreciate.
Politics / Re: Biafra: Show Evidence Of Your Project In Southeast – Omirhobo Challenges Gowon by Amalekki: 12:28am On Feb 27
grin grin grin On another note, the reprisal from that proposed landing in Lagos by surprise would have led to a total wipe out of the dot land and you won't even be in existence to be typing all these here today. The friendly war tempered down by Gowon would have turned into a real war with no mercy. Let's just be grateful to God and move on.

tegrianonigltd:

Biafra almost defeated Nigeria, Una dey read history at all?? The Biafra ambush is the greatest in africa till date, google it. Those students, those men created their own weapons, they almost defeated and landed in Lagos, if not for the Benin meeting of Ojukwu, Awolowo and co, after Awolowo knew the plan, went ahead to snitch, thinking the north will vote him in as President, Shagari won.

Go read the history properly. Awolowo snitched na why, he got the idea of cutting food supply.

Japa is a personal choice and the history of humanity is filled with japa here and there from villages to cities, cities to villages, countries to countries. Live your life, make your personal choices and live with your decisions. You owe no one any explanation and you need no one's validation whether you japa or not and no one owes you any explanation for their choices as well.

That's true. Even my friend Rajiv said Igbos are very patriotic Indians which was the exact statement also made by the deputy governor of Libreville on Igbos in Gabon. Even South Africa acknowledges this. Very very patriotic and law abiding investors and builders everywhere.

We know who we are. Our people only start forming saints when they lose out.

Paramount01:

Nigeria is a very interesting country of hypocrites.

—Obedients claim Wike rigged their candidate in Rivers for Fubara

—Wike rigged candidate Fubara won and Obedient LP went to court.

—Wike fought with Fubara and Obedients switched alliance to their enemy called Fubara and even went ahead to withdraw LP case in court against him.

—Fubara demolished the house of assembly, Obedient cheered the illegality on.

—Fubara presented budget to 4 assembly members, they adore the illegality.

—Fubara signed the budget within 24hrs without any debate, Obedients tantalize in joy.

—Now Tinubu help broker a truce between Wike/Fubara and some people said it’s unconstitutional. Was any of Fubara action constitutional in the first place that made you guys support him?

No one want justice in this country.

Religion / Re: Same-Sex Marriage: Catholic Teaching Doesn’t Change – Bishops by Amalekki: 3:23pm On Dec 21, 2023
Misconception again.
Catholic church did not bless same sex marriage, Catholic church blesses the individuals not the marriage.
With the thief on the right hand, Jesus Christ did not bless or endorse robbery.

IPDGP:
Catholic blessing same sex marriage, well u not different from Cele inviting Portable for praise night.
What is bad is bad
So we can now go to shrine and bless them because it doesn't change our teachings.
Religion / Re: Same-Sex Marriage: Catholic Teaching Doesn’t Change – Bishops by Amalekki: 3:20pm On Dec 21, 2023
No baby steps. It's not happening.
The blessing is no different from Jesus rolling with the tax collectors. It was not an endorsement.
Dismas, the thief on the right at the crucifixion received blessings but not an endorsement of his lifestyle that led to his condemnation.
Until the last breath is drawn, no one is irredeemable. All churches are filled with all sorts of sinners receiving blessings every day and every Sunday. The church on earth is not solely for the saints and the role is not to destroy.

jeff1607:

Baby steps, it first started with having brunch with them, now it's blessings, tomorrow a ceremony.

It's all about the environment. Your situation can change rapidly in Nigeria for no fault of yours.

The most brilliant student in my class back then is from a family with two boys and two girls all in the university at the same time studying huge professional courses. Their parents were teachers and life was very tough for them in the university.

These are definitely first class materials with just one of them on scholarship but they all barely made it through university as they had it truly rough. Where would they find money for engineering, pharmacy and law books or handouts when even feeding on campus was tough? Thank God for japa of the first son who opened doors for the rest. They are all huge abroad today.

Is that healthy? Please face your studies!

The top layer of our skin (the stratum corneum) is our skin's key protective layer. But frequent hand washing with repetitive exposure to water, soap, and skin cleansers will disrupt this layer. Over time, this leads to dry skin, further disruption of the skin barrier, and inflammation.
